One of my key goals after graduation is to get into a nurse practitioner (NP) program, and eventually to practice successfully as an NP. The teamwork skills listed will likely be most applicable after school, and the writing skills would help me more generally as I take later classes for my bachelors and later graduate level courses. Of the teamwork skills listed, motivation, communication/collaboration, and continuous improvement are especially relevant to practicing as an NP. Under the motivation category, it specifically states that the team member is consistently focused on producing high quality work. Nursing is known to be one of the most challenging careers, owing to the tough responsibilities that nurse practitioners are charged with and the immense sensitivity of their role (Li, 2013). Both Registered nurses and nurse practitioners work together monitoring a range of patients’ health and providing them with adapt care needed within their scope of practice. However, the roles and the responsibilities they bestowed are different. Target population was pregnant women less than fourteen weeks gestation that had a sedentary lifestyle. The researcher used two data collection instruments to complete this study. The first is The Cornell Protocol Fitness Tool that measured cardiovascular fitness level and peak oxygen consumption. The second data collection instrument used was The Minnesota Leisure Time Physical Activity Questionnaire assessed energy expenditure and daily physical activity. Candidates were excluded if they had chronic hypertension, gestational diabetes, and any medical condition that will prohibit daily exercise, communication problems, or recommendation of primary care provider not to participate (Yeo 2009).
This class was very challenging, interesting, and informative. First, students must push themselves to expand their knowledge and help themselves become more inquisitive, critical, reflective, and problem solve.
