I am JaneDasha Robinson, a senior at City of Medicine Academy. I was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina to my parents, Queenie and Milton Robinson. My aspirations include, being a pediatric nurse practitioner and start my own pediatric outpatient practice.
My interest in pediatric nursing dates back to when I started volunteering at church in Sunday care at the age of 14. I volunteered every 1st, 3rd and 4th Sunday in the 1-5 age group. Volunteering here guided me to my passion and it showed me that caring for younger kids is my gift and that’s what I’m meant to do. Whether I was taking the kids to the bathroom, interacting with them during play time or organizing them for snack time someone whether an adult or one of my peers would

One day she asked me what I wanted to be and at the time I was undecided, I knew I wanted to be in the medical field and I knew I didn’t want to go to school for so long after high school. She then introduced me to the career of a nurse practitioner. She told me that their salary was pretty good and that they are just as important as a doctor. That night I researched further information on a nurse practitioner and as I was looking at the different tasks and daily activities I began to gain interest and I knew I could see myself doing that in the long …show more content…
They consistently ensure that I have the necessities I need to survive and more, along with being financially responsible for the every day bills they receive. It is my belief that college should not be another burden and responsibility placed upon them. My parents also cannot fully pay for the tuition of my dream school. Therefore, winning this scholarship will not only lighten the burden and stress of making sure the financial aspect of my education is met but it will also allow me to gain knowledge from an accredited university, one that I have always aspired to
Personal Statement for Nursing Major I want to become a Registered Nurse because I have a lot of passion for working with people. Since I was a child, it has been a dream of mine to be a Registered Nurse. Though many obstacles cameo on the way to pursuing my dream early on in life, today I am in a good place to proceed with my dream. I am friendly, patient, compassionate and trustworthy.
Based on my transcript and my personal assessment on my academic performance in the classroom, I am capable of successfully passing through the undergraduate study with good grades. Also, based on the acquired basic knowledge I need in order to understand and pass in the nursing career, I have a stronghold of this knowledge which makes me a potential candidate for nursing. UCLA School of Nursing program focuses on managing both individuals and population-based cohorts within an acute care hospital or medical center. The curriculum also provides principles of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention; moving from a systems, population-based approach, to a cohort-based or unit-based perspective, and culminating with an intense focus on the individual-level of care in which it would be essential and necessary to become a Registered Nurse. With this being said, UCLA School of Nursing offers the adequate education, in my perspective, in order to provide the best health care service a patient would need.
I have currently been teaching clinicals for two different colleges. This requires a lot of leadership. I am also a resource for new nurses. I am extremely approachable and easy to communicate with. I find that even with nurses who have experience often come to me with questions.
I grew up in Mobile, Alabama in an area where higher education was neither valued nor desired. Upon graduating from high school, my father (who worked as a janitor) was offered a dependent-stipend for dependents of employees who attend a Historically Black University (HBU). My father felt that I had the potential to be a nurse. He drove me to Tuskegee Institute and dropped me off at the designated orientation site. Thus my orientation to college life.
To work in health care means that you are willing to do everything you can to help people who are in need. I do not think that health care professionals make miracles happen, I think they will do everything in their power to get someone back on their feet. I want to be a nurse so I can be a part of the healing process of the individual who sought out or is in need of help. A nurse does not diagnose a patient and then move on to the next; a nurse comforts the patient and makes sure that they will fully recover. I have a passion for comforting people and making sure they are unperturbed.
I always had an idea about what I wanted to do when I was older. During the middle of my sophomore year I finally picked a career path I would continue after high school. Throughout middle school I was always torn between being an elementary school teacher and a registered nurse. They both require you to have patience and to work with others to improve their daily lives. I loved the fact of being a teacher because I love working with children and wanted to help them develop skills they could use later in life.
Ever since i was little i have always dreamt that i wanted to be a nurse. Why? Because i have always been very helpful with the people around me. Being a nurse was an accomplishment for me. Of Course we had to start somewhere.
My father was in and out of the hospital for various forms of cancer throughout my young adult life. During his final battle, he had a nurse who demonstrated excellent compassion and advocacy, which I will never forget. My father kept telling us that he didn’t want to die in the hospital, but he wasn’t stable enough to transfer home due to various drips and needing bipap. Every breath was a struggle, and it was difficult for everyone in the room to listen to his agonal breathing and to see the fear on his face. His IV morphine was ordered as every four hours as needed.
I am highly interested in the New Grad RN opportunity at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I will be graduating in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina, and will be taking my NCLEX _____. I am seeking a challenging work environment where I can utilize my skills to the fullest extent, and I believe that Vanderbilt University Medical Center is that place. Throughout my clinical rotations, I have had the opportunity to work in several settings, including medical-surgical, critical care, psychiatric, pediatric, and maternal/newborn nursing.
There are several reasons why I decided to major in nursing. When I was younger I would watch the shows on television about the emergency room. I loved it and I decided that that was what I wanted to do. Over time I began to see nursing for what it really was.
I am very proud to say that I have been working in caring profession for the last 10 years. I am very passionate about this profession and enjoy each and every moment and giving a high standard of care by lifting the spirit of the patients. I have experienced many different care roles in a variety of situation in this country and abroad and which inspired me a lot to take the nursing training. Recently I have finished the assistant Practitioner (AP) Degree in Bedfordshire University with excellent grades.
After working under this umbrella for approximately 12 years in a private pediatric practice, and considering that I was the first college graduate in my family, I wanted to set a new standard for my children and family to follow. Hence, after many years of this hands-on approach, I decided to rekindle my academic goals. With the guidance of many fine people, such as my instructors and mentors, I accomplished my Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) in May of 2014. Soon after this accomplishment, my employer granted me the opportunity of starting and managing a satellite clinic in an adjacent community.
Contrary to popular belief, we as humans serve few purposes in life. Among said purposes are giving back, learning, and loving. In my opinion, all of these things should be practised in everyday life as often possible. In most circumstances, this is much easier said than done. However, with certain career paths, all of the previously listed “keys to life” can be obtained nearly every day by simply going to work.
A scarred kidney was what triggered my mind and thoughts into Paediatric nursing. Not only did I have one to one care from a nurse, I also experienced the affect that my illness had to them. The love, the care and the help I received was the initial reason to how I escaped fatality at the age of 12. I was truly inspired by the nurses whom I believe were the reason to why the whole experience was bearable for myself and my family. It is very essential whilst working with children, your mind, body and soul is dedicated to them 100% of being in their presence.
When I asked her why she wanted to be a nurse she told me me proudly, “my dad had told me when I was in high school that I should be a nurse because I was so caring for everyone and that would be the perfect job for me.” Her dad passing away motivated her to be a nurse because that what he wanted her to be and she also wanted to become a nurse.
