Please allow me to introduce myself as Crystal Jordan. I started with Poudre Valley Health System in January 2007 in the Patient Access Department. In late 2009, I transferred to the Medical/Neurology Unit at Medical Center of the Rockies to provide patient care as a Nursing Aide. I have deliberately but steadily pursued my passion for nursing working as a single mom. I graduated from Denver School of Nursing this past March, 2016. I sat for the NCLEX at the earliest date offered and received my license May 6, 2016. I have enjoyed growing and learning from every educational opportunity presented. I have met a number of outstanding nurse role models in my time on the Medical Unit and I'm grateful for it. As an Associate Degree New Grad nurse, immediately pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, I find myself with no employment options within UCHealth North. I can provide references from co-workers that I have completely devoted myself to being an optimistic, efficient team member. I am regularly thanked by my patients and feel like I am able to connect and comfort them in their difficult times. For 6 years, I have been one of the front line staff members helping care for the most intimate needs of patients. I am a caregiver who truly loves my job. I thrive in the always changing, fast paced environment I have been …show more content…
I have also met Associate Degree nurses who are compassionate, knowledgeable, competent nurses who have yet to begin a BSN program here at MCR. I listen to argument after argument among our staff declaring that a BSN doesn't help them take any better care of their patients and that it's unfortunate that it's being misconstrued as something that will make them any safer to practice. I accept that times have changed and that for Magnet Status, hospitals need 80% of their nursing staff to hold BSN or higher
My inspiration to pursue a lifelong career in nursing derived from witnessing a close individual succumb to a painful and chronic disease when I was the tender age of 6. I pondered and researched endlessly on the symptoms and damage caused by that disease until I comprehended its origin and everlasting effects. The memory of witnessing that individual die will continue to plague my memories and serve as a reminder of why I continue to strive for my goals today. From that point on, I knew exactly the person I aspired to be in the future—a nurse. I was fascinated with acquiring knowledge about the human body and diseases. In high school, I applied to a local hospital to become a candystriper to gain more insight about the medical field and nursing. I was placed into the endoscopy department and it was there where I truly established my determination to take on the challenge of becoming a nurse. I witnessed and experienced a myriad of things during my time there. I grasped how to become more compassionate and to prioritize one’s life and safety above everything. The hospital became my personified version of Utopia.
I completed my adult nursing degree. I began my nursing career in 2014 in primary care as a community nurse. I have continuously undertaken courses to improve my skill and knowledge in caring for patients. This has empowered me to deliver holistic evidence based care to patients in the community. I have continued to professionally update my practice and have developed comprehensive portfolio.
I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in May 2017, successful passed the necessary national certification and obtained my Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license from the state of Florida. My education has provided me with the skills and knowledge to assess, diagnose and treat patients in a dedicated, compassionate and caring manner. My background includes providing care in an acute care setting as a registered nurse and interning within the Martin Health Care System as a family nurse practitioner student. During my internship, I practiced teamwork, clinical excellence, and became proficient in
Given the goals of WRITE, please state why you should participate in the next class of students. Growing up in rural Wyoming instilled within me a desire to work toward improving access to medical care in rural areas, and I feel my participation in WRITE would equip me with the skills and tools necessary to pursue this goal. I possess a unique perspective into rural communities and will be able to share this with physicians and patients while deepening my understanding of health care challenges in rural areas. I enjoy immersing myself in novel situations in order to learn about cultures, practices, people, and worldviews which differ from my own. I strongly believe in a holistic view of medicine: empowering patients to become partners in
Vivian Onyechi Statement of Purpose Health care has been at the forefront of my life. Growing up I always knew that I wanted to be in the Health field, but I did not know what direction I would go. You see I come from a country where we didn't take healthcare seriously until you had to go to a hospital. One would think that going to a hospital would reassure you that everything would be alright but that is not the case. The system is designed to make health professionals think of themselves and how they can profit off your misery while incompetence is the order of the day.
My goal is to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Trinity Washington University. After working in government and as a massage therapist, I realized that I have a calling in health care. In order to become a great nurse that provides optimal care, I need to be educated by the best institution. I am dedicated to putting in the time and effort to gain all of the knowledge Trinity Washington University can provide me, as I start my journey to the health care field.
Since July of 2015, I have been in school working towards obtaining my baccalaureate of science in nursing (BSN) degree. In October of 2016 I will have completed the BSN degree program at Grand Canyon University (GCU). Although I obtained my associates degree in nursing (ADN) in 2005, which has been well over five years ago, I will be one of the nurses who will help achieve the IOM’s recommendation of having eighty percent of the nursing workforce have their BSN.
In May of 2015, I completed my nursing degree from the accredited nursing program at Carteret Community College with an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing. My dedication and hard work to my studies can be seen through my three year membership in the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. As a new graduate in the nursing field, my objective is to grow and engage in the knowledge and expertise of my chosen profession. I am very flexible and eager to begin utilizing my newly acquired degree. Therefore, please considered my resume for the Transition to the Practice New Nursing Resident Program at Carteret Health Care.
Having stood beside my husband for nine months as he struggled through a massive brain injury gave me a firsthand perspective of the power of nurses. Although I had been a new nurse at the time, this experience completely changed my viewpoint. Their compassion, empathy, knowledge, and trust was unprecedented and helped me through many painful days. Devastatingly, after a courageous fight, my husband passed away. This was undoubtedly the most heartbreaking experience in my life.
I have a Master’s Degree in nursing and am a proud graduate of Mount St. Mary’s University. My two years of volunteer experience in the past as an Assistant Nurse at White Memorial Medical Center helped me realize and implement clinal duties I learned during my course of education. In addition, I currently work as a registered nurse at Glendale Memorial Hospital and I am determined to venture out into other hospitals to gain more experience.
Since graduating from Clemson University in the Fall of 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, I have further developed my clinical skills for the past three years at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center on PCCU5. Over the last three years at SRMC, my foundation in nursing, which began at Clemson University, was advanced through vigorous clinical hours spent with critical cardiac patients and intense clinical education to promote better care for this patient population. By working on a post coronary care unit, I have had the opportunity to care for a patient population of differing ages and cultures with not only cardiac issues
My interest in nursing started unexpectedly when I became the main caregiver for my family. I had the responsibilities of helping my father who was diagnosed with cancer and raising my daughter as a single-teenaged parent. After pursuing my dreams and working several years as a nurse, I have been introduced to different aspects of nursing. I fell in love with the field of orthopedics because I was amazed at how orthopedic surgeons could remodel bones and help patients with serious injuries regain their strength and mobility. This inspired me to become an advanced practiced nurse in the field of orthopedics.
