My graduation from medical school was a milestone - I became the first physician in my family. After an extended and arduous journey of medical licensing exams, in 2005, I was awarded Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduate (ECFMG) certificate. Like many foreign physicians, my attempt to secure a medical residency program in the U.S. was not successful. I began a postdoctoral fellowship at University of South Florida (USF). Since 2012, I have worked as a junior faculty within the Department of Neurosurgery. I am so grateful to be a part of Accelerated Combined BSN/MSN for Foreign Educated Physicians (FEPs) Nursing Program at Florida International University (FIU) last semester. The following is a brief description of my personal work history and future career goals.

As a child, I felt my passion for serving not just to my family but to others as well. As time passed I felt enormous joy and excitement while studying medicine. In my postdoctoral training, my medical training was useful for correlating research findings with the associated clinical disease. I have devoted the vast majority of my time to expanding my knowledge in learning translational research and mostly evaluated the usefulness and safety of stem cell-based therapy to advance cell therapy for aging, neurodegenerative disease and brain/spinal cord injury. Even while I have enjoyed the research, I want to do more with my professional career and want to help someone in their time of need.
