Everyone wants to lose weight, whether they need to or not. Since November 2015, I have lost almost 30 pounds, using nutritional therapy. I have not consumed any products to achieve my goal. What are the 5 ways I did it?

Needy children may or may not eat breakfast, which is considered the most important meal of the day. Sometimes, these children have eaten more nutritiously with oatmeal, milk, and fruit, whereas others have eaten white-flour pancakes with syrup or sugar-laden cereal with milk, water, or nothing else. Even though egg whites, whole grain breads, fruits, and low-fat milk are better choices, they may not be available to them. Many families need education about nutrition and its effects on their children and families. By lunchtime, most poor children’s bodies are depleted and in need of another energy provider, even if they had a breakfast in the first place.

Two-hundred overweight/obese individuals will be subjected to my evaluation plan. Upon completion of the nutrition 2-hour workshops and questionnaire about current eating habits, participants will be randomly placed into either the breakfast eating group or the non-breakfast eating group. This randomization will occur via computer programing. Participants will then be measured for weight and height via balance beam and scale stadiometer. Body mass index will be measured via XA model Lunar DPX-IQ. A plastic- flexible tape measure will be used to measure hip circumference.

Women, Infant and Children program, WIC is a Federally-funded program designed to improve nutrition and health of low-income women and their children under the age of five. This program has decreased the premature births, and elongated the pregnancy of mothers by providing a rich diet full of vitamins and minerals such as iron, vitamin c, vitamin B6, thiamin, and niacin (USDA, ). WIC provides nutrition education in order to improve health and decrease the infant deaths. Patient care is a priority for health care providers due to the increasing demand for quality care. In order to increase the capacity to nourish low -income families and to enhance food purchasing and preparation skills, a six-week cooking program, Cooking for a Cause, will be implemented in the local food pantry, Christ the King Food Pantry, in Concord, NH. Studies have shown that community nutrition intervention leads to a significant increases in self-reported knowledge of food preparation, positive food purchasing practices, and confidence in following a recipe and carrying out basic cooking skills. The Concord community is largely composed of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) beneficiaries and low-income individuals who are faced with the challenge of inadequate health, education, and resources. The goal of Cooking for a Cause is to increase capacity to nourish low-income families on a budget and to enhance food purchasing and preparation skills. Short term objectives for the program are that during the first year of this program, at least four, six-week programs will be conducted.

In order to make our program more appealing and accepted by the daycare, parents, and community we will invest some funds into marketing. Our marketing approach will be targeted to the daycare, parents, and children and will help reinforce the materials that we are providing to the daycare staff. Our objective is for the day care staff to be educated about healthy meal and snack choices for the children, coupled with our program providing meal options. Each week after the day care staff receives a new nutrition lesson, the children will be provided this information from the daycare staff. We will have posters in the daycare to create interest in the program for both parents and children, along with bi-weekly pamphlets with nutritional lessons and tips, supported by our website (NFHealthyStart.com).
