Obesity is the state of imbalance between the calories consumed versus the calories expended leading to an excessive fat accumulation in adipose tissue resulting in physical and psychological problems. The excess fat is distributed in the body either around the waist (abdominal fat), trunk (android store fat) or gynoid store fat in hips/thighs. The primary causes of obesity are inactivity, unhealthy diet and eating habits, genetics, unhealthy diet and lifestyle, certain medications like antidepressants, and diabetes medications, age, lack of sleep, and sometimes the result of quitting smoking. Gender wise men aged 40-59 had 38.3% obesity rate compared to men aged 20-39 with the a rate of 30.3% and women aged 40-59 had 42.1% obesity rate compared to women aged 20-39 with a rate of 34.4%. Therefore concluding that obesity is most common in men and women aged 40-59. Gender wise it is also seen that obesity is more common among Hispanic women with an obesity rate of 45.7% compared to Hispanic men with a rate of 39%. 16.9% of children in U.S are obese and 20.2% of black, 22.4% Latino and 14.3% white. Among the youth populations, adolescents aged 12-19 have the highest obesity rate among children with 20.5% followed by children aged 6-11 and 2-5 with 17.5% and 8.9% obesity rates in United States. Obesity was lower among non-Hispanic Asian youth (8.6%) as compared to non-Hispanic white, non-Hispanic black, and Hispanics with obesity rates of 14.7%, 19.5% and 21.9%. When it comes to gender non-Hispanic Asian males (11.8%) had a higher rate of obesity compared to non-Hispanic Asian females with an obesity rate of 5.3%.
