Hera is the Greek goddess of marriage, childbirth, empire, and kings. Her parents are god and goddess Cronus and Rhea. Hera has five other siblings: Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, and Demeter. When Hera was born her siblings were swallowed by her father Cronus. She is the sister and wife of Zeus, who is the main god. The Greeks thought it was okay for the gods to marry their sisters or brothers. Hera herself has five children; Ares, who is the god of war, Hephaistos the god of metalworking, Hebe, goddess of youth and brides, Eileithyia, goddess of childbirth, and Eris, the goddess of strife. Hera was born with great beauty. She is a brunette with big blue eyes. Her powers are immortality, the ability not to get hurt, super strength and she can bless and curse marriages. Zeus is known for his promiscuous action. Often times he fell in love with one woman after the other and attempted to disguise his infidelity from his wife. Zeus left no woman behind in his crazy love-life, the god married and had children with his sister, Hera and. Hera was not Zeus’ only siblings. He also had two brothers, Poseidon and Hades and another sister named Hestia. His parents are known as Cronus and Rhea. Zeus was not just handed the title “god of the sky,” instead him and his two brothers drew lots. The sea was given to Poseidon, the underworld to Hades, and Zeus was named lord of the sky, rain god, and cloud gatherer. The eagle is considered sacred to this god. Zeus also treasures the oak tree. There were many stories that clearly display Hera’s jealousy, but one of the most well known stories was the tale of Zeus and Leto resulting in the birth of two important gods. Zeus decided to pursue Leto, but when he realized that Hera was watching, he transformed himself and Leto in quails. Even though Zeus had taken measures to protect himself and Leto, Hera saw them together.
