One day Mr. Walter Mitty, during a hot summer afternoon, was swimming in just about the biggest pool, well, ever! He was with his wife, Mrs. Mitty, and they were eating snacks, splashing each other, having the time of their life…. He looks around as he is floating in a tube he sees birds in the sky, he can smell salt. He sits up, and sees that there is no land to be found for at least a mile, all he can see is the ocean, bluer than ever. He starts paddling in his tube toward what looks like land. As he gets closer he notices how vibrant all of the colors are, the flowers and pinker than bubble gum, the trees look like they have had rain on them once a day for years and years. He gets out of his tube and starts walking around into the forest. …show more content…
The ladies greet him with lei’s and he starts dancing and having so much fun. As the party dies down he walks back out to the sand, and shore and watches the sunset. He is walking around, and then he hears something. He walks over to wear the strange noise came from, he turns the corner, and his eyes open up bigger than the earth. He cannot believe his eyes, it was a mermaid! “Oh my goodness, hello!” the mermaid says with the most beautiful smile, “are you lost?” “No, well I do not think so, what is your name?” Mitty responds. “Ashley, and you?” blushing Mitty answers, “Walter. Walter Mitty. It is very nice to meet….” , and at that moment a man, wearing the same attire as the people at the party, throws a net! He pulls Ashley away, she is screaming, Mitty is in shock! “Mitty help me!” Ashley screams. All of a sudden Mitty grows angry, he starts sprinting towards the
Sweeney Todd is composed by the spectacular Stephen Sondheim, and this production was directed by John Doyle in 2005. This Musical is about a barber Benjamin Barker/Sweeney Todd who’s sent away by Judge Turpin because he wanted Todd’s wife. Todd is told by his friend Mrs. Lovett that his wife died and his daughter Johanna is being kept by Turpin who is planning to marry her. Todd vows that he will take revenge on The Judge. As Sweeney awaits his revenge, he works as a barber and kills his clients while Mrs. Lovett runs a meat pie shop and uses the people Todd kills for the pies. I will be discussing the performances and the way the pieces are written. Therefore, I will not be able to talk about each track.
Basically, people always seem to be either yelling or laughing at him for one mistake or another. This makes him create his own life and have daydreams in which he is the opposite of what he is in reality. On their way to town, he had his first daydream as is a brave military commander piloting a hydroplane, but his wife interrupts by yelling at him, saying: “You’re driving too fast!”. (Thurber,1939) When she insists on him to make an appointment with his physician, he becomes a famous surgeon at work, until a parking-lot attendant calls his attention to come back to reality. Mitty was pissed and thought: “they think they know everything”. (Thurber,1939) Mitty’s third daydream is of being the defendant in a trial, and he is woken by a mental association with dog biscuits, which his wife asked him to buy. At that moment he gets bothered because, “A woman who was passing laughed. "He said 'Puppy biscuit,'" she said to her companion. "That man said 'Puppy biscuit' to himself."” (Thurber,1939) As he waits for his wife to finish at the hairdresser, he daydreams of being a British pilot willing to sacrifice his life for his country, and he is again woken by his wife, who was looking for him. In a moment Walter asked his wife “Does it ever occur to you that I am sometimes thinking?”

With the family having to secure their home, the family's only son died from the things that were suppose to protect them. As you well know the child ends up dead at the end because of over security. In the short story “Once Upon a Time” Nadine Gordimer has a weird transition with point of view at the end of the first page. This transition helped out develope the mood. The point of view of this story is unique because of the transition. If the story had a different perspective it would change most of the story.
When the three friends looked up they were shocked to what they were seeing. The air is sweet and crisp and a gorgeous flower meadow covered the top of the mountain. The three of them were surprised, it is actually real. In the middle of the meadow was a shack, big enough for one person.

Sunday, December 7, 1941, was, as President Roosevelt said, "a date which will live in infamy." Day of Infamy is a fascinating account of that unforgettable day's events. In brilliant detail Walter Lord traces the human drama of the great attack: the spies behind it; the Japanese pilots; the crews on the stricken warships; the men at the airfields and the bases; the Japanese pilot who captured an island single-handedly when he could not get back to his carrier; the generals, the sailors, the housewives, and the children who responded to the attack with anger, numbness, and magnificent courage.
In his book, “One Day Too Long,” Timothy N. Castle talks about one of the Vietnam War's most closely guarded secrets. Castle writes about a highly classified U.S. radar base in the mountains of neutral Laos. Within this base, 11 military personnel disappeared with the government never fully mentioning how or why they did. Timothy N. Castle had many experiences with the Vietnam War. He had served two tours in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. Also Castle has traveled to Laos ever since the 1900’s to work as a researcher for the Department of Defense. Castle is a senior in that department and he also works as a consultant for NBC News. Castle is a senior researcher at the CIA Center. Castle has another job worth mentioning as he teaches
The ocean was so calm and stretched as far as the eye could see. It changed color with the light and the depth, from green to blue to dark blue. At twilight, you can't tell the ocean from the sky. The sky was so blue and not a cloud could be seen for miles. It made me feel at peace and so harmonious. There was the scent of saltwater in the air, a scent like no other. There around we could see sharks swimming calmly in the waters of the Caribbean Sea. They were so beautiful even though they are predators of the sea. On the boat everyone was very quiet, in fear, with the only hope of getting to our destination safely. The boat was overcrowded and no one could move or they would have risked tipping it over and sinking. There were 150 people in a small boat, mostly family with children. Time went by and after a few hours of sailing we heard the magic words when the captain yelled, “Everybody relax we are out of Cuban territory, you are free! We are now on international waters”. That’s when everybody started crying and cheering with excitement. Time once again began to pass by slowly, and I remember at one point the sky started painting in an array of pink, orange and yellow, and before long the pale glow of the moon was beginning to show. Soon enough the sky started to turn black and all the stars starting to shine up in the
Walter Lords’ Day of Infamy traces the drama of the massive aerial attack of Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7, 1941. In this book, Lord painstakingly reconstructed not just the “why” and the “way” of the attack, but also how it happened, how people could have been so unaware of what might happen, and the slowness to regroup when it did. He begins with the innocence (and evils) of the night before the tragedy. He ends with the famous national radio address of President Franklin D. Roosevelts’ speech before Congress the following day. Lord is also known for his bestselling book A Night to Remember, which was written in the same style as this book, with minute-to-minute accounts of the sinking of the Titanic. “Events alone rarely provide much guide to the future”, stated Walter ford. Walter Lord's "Day of Infamy" retells the small details and planning leading up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, which was where one of the U.S.'s most important fleets resided. The book is set in Japan to Hawaii on December 7, 1941, a day
Day of Infamy was written by Walter Lord in 1957. In this book he attempts to recreate Pearl Harbor for the reader by giving an extremely detailed and unbiased account from both the American and Japanese perspectives. The book was written in 1957 so the reader might have to reread a page here and there to make sure that they fully understand what the writer was trying to get across. Even though it might be a little hard to read it is still a very enjoyable book if you are interested in what actually happened at Pearl Harbor and not just what your 7th grade history teacher told you.
I chose the text I did because it seemed like a fun way to demonstrate understanding and continue the story into the daily lives of the Mitty family. The speaker in this text is Mrs. Mitty through notes left for Walter or things he’s written down to not forget what she said. This demonstrates my knowledge of the text by my writing following the character of Mrs. Mitty. It displays my overall knowledge because of it’s similarity to Mrs. Mitty’s character. I first felt that I wanted to create a text for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty because out of all the texts this one was the one I found most interesting. I chose to write further because I thought it would be interesting to write more about their personal lives. This format allows me to write in a slightly comedic fashion about Mrs. Mitty and

The scholarly article “Sympathy For The Devil” by Lin Haire Sargeant was a very informative and persuasive article. This article focused on the evaluation of the movies of Wuthering Heights, and the differences between the characters, more specifically Heathcliff. It talked about how most of the movies made the viewer have “sympathy for the devil,” or sympathy for Heathcliff. In the first movie that was spoken about, the 1939 adaption, they portray Heathcliff not as the one who is sinning, but the one who has been sinned upon. She states that this movie almost makes it seem that Heathcliff is really a good guy, but he has just had a streak of bad luck. Her evaluation of Heathcliff in this matter is very persuasive, and since I have not seen any of the movies,
