Abstract Oprah Winfrey is one of the most successful women in the American entertainment industry. Hence, she has rightfully and popularly been deemed “The Queen of All Media.” She is known globally as being a successful talk show host, producer, actress, and philanthropist. She is most famously praised for her talk show, entitled “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” However, she also has her own magazine and her own television network. Her popularity as a talk show host and entrepreneur is in her power to inspire individuals to live their life with fervor. Due to this passion and commitment she was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Harvard, and awarded the Presidential Medal Of Freedom by president Obama. According to Drew Hoover (2011), Oprah started her career from a young age; she was only 19 when she became the youngest person to anchor the news at Nashville’s WTVF-TV. Shortly after that, she became a co-host of the local talk show in Baltimore; the show was rated the highest talk show in television history and was renamed as The Oprah Winfrey Show (Dane, 2005). In 1988, she opened a production facility in Chicago called Harpo Studios. At that time, she was the third woman in the American entertainment industry, after Mary Pickford and Lucille Ball, to have her own studio. Her show remained as the number one talk show for 19 consecutive seasons. By estimation, the show was seen in the United States by 49 million viewers a week, and broadcasted internationally in 122 countries (Gerald, 2008). According to the Los Angeles Times, “Oprah Winfrey is more than a talk show host. She advises her audience on what to read, what to listen to, what movies to see and how to live” (Stephen, 1997). As for the production company , there are three different company producing the show for different seasons . WLS-TV was the production company for season 1 and 2 which was in the year 1986 to 1988. From 1988 onward until the year 2010 , Harpo Productions was in-charge for seasons 3-24 . At last , Harpo Studios did the production for season 25 which lasted from the year 2010 to 2011 . “Oprah” was one of the longest running daytime television tabloid talk shows in history , it has even received 47 Daytime Emmy Awards until Winfrey finally chose to stop submitting it for consideration in 2000 . Oprah Winfrey grew up in a world of adversity, despite her early accomplishments as a gifted child. She began her career in 1976, when she moved to Baltimore to join WJZ-TV News. (Oprah Winfrey Biography, 2011) Her empathetic personality made her many friends, and she was invited to Chicago in 1984 to begin hosting a half-hour morning program. Within a year, she had turned the AM Chicago radio show into the most important radio show in town, and was soon expanded to a full one-hour format. During this time, Oprah struggled with the stereotype that as a black woman she would always be an assistant anchor on the news, or simply a well-spoken host of a talk show. This could not have been further from the truth, as Oprah was able to create her own format for excellence in all forms of media, not simply talk or television. Oprah created a monthly segment on her show, similar to a book club, where she would choose a book and viewers could go buy and read it and then have a discussion about it with her. This innovative idea not only got people inspired to read and to watch her show, but also made her the most powerful book marketer and skyrocketed the sales of whichever book they were focusing on for that week. However, after a very long run, this segment was cut from the show during 2002.
