Oprah Gail Winfrey is known for her famous TV network. She was born to her unmarried parents Vernita Lee and Vernon Winfrey. Oprah was born on January 29th, 1954 on an isolated farm in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Her career started when she was 22 years old. In 1976, she became a co-host for the tv show ¨People are talking¨. Oprah lived with her maternal grandmother until she was 6 years old. She is also a spokesperson for Weight Watchers.
As a young child Oprah entertained herself by ¨playacting¨ in front of an ¨audience¨ of farm animals. When Oprah was 2 ½ years old she began to read. She addressed her church when ¨Jesus rose on Easter Day¨. Oprah skipped Kindergarten after writing a note to her teacher saying she should be in 1st grade. She was then moved up to 3rd grade after that year. At 6 years old Winfrey was sent north to live with her mother and two half-brothers in a Milwaukee ghetto, a very poor and dangerous neighborhood. In Oprah's final year of her talk show, she announced she had a half sister named Patricia. Oprah's mother gave birth to Patricia when Oprah was only 9 years old while she lived with her dad. Vernita gave patricia up for adoption in hopes she would get the media off her back. Oprah only learned about her sister a few months before she announced it on her tv show. She said ¨It was the greatest surprises of my life¨.

However, after a very long run, this segment was cut from the show during 2002. Since then, Oprah has become an Emmy nominated actress, a film producer, and the founder and subject of O, The Oprah Magazine.
