Have you ever travelled to US state like Texas? If you have then you must have witnessed many glittering towns and cities of Texas that has lightened the dark sky and sometimes travellers have the feeling that they are still witnessing a day time due to the extensive use of lights in the cities like Nevada & Houston. Thus, today we are going to study how outdoor lighting Houston affects its citizens. Since it is very well known that outdoor lighting is a striking and attractive way to add security to a home, business and rental property as well as the public area such as parks and waterways that are basic night time attractions for couples, children and for the elderly people. As it is a common knowledge to each and every one of us that outdoor
Natural lighting shone through the many windows surrounding the perimeter. The view from the windows
Stores, bars, cafés and restaurants are necessary to attract people at night. The mixture of workplaces and residences generally assures that there are always people around keeping the streets safe with their presence. The “eyes on the street” is one of the several phrases that Jacobs coined and entered into the terminology of urban
The gulf coastal plains are located on the east side of the state of Texas. They have some hills that cover it but mostly it is flat land. It has some forest most particularly it has the Piney Woods. The interior lowlands are plains that run through the northern central part of the state. It does not have many trees except among waterways. There is a lot of limestone based structures in this area of the state. The great plains of Texas are to the west of the gulf coastal plains. This region has rivers that run through it. It is on the east of the Rocky Mountains. It has plains that extend throughout the region. The great plains also have some change in elevations as there are some plateaus present in this area. For
A world without the excessive use of vapid lighting will allow people to enjoy the magnificent stars as captured in Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”. Bogard then moves on to establishing the beauty of Paris as the “City of Light”. In stark contrast to its status as a city illuminated by beautiful artificial lighting, the city has taken steps to limit the use of these excessive lighting, in turn turning Paris from “a city of light” to “a city of light … before 2AM.” This dichotomy allows Bogard’s audience to appreciates the importance of preserving the night sky via limiting the presence of artificial light. If a city which is famed for its use of artificial lighting is able to preserve the natural darkness while concurrently preserving its natural beauty, it is a given that society will be able to mimic this
In my opinion we have to have environmental regulations to sustain the environment we have today. Many people claim that these regulations restrict business which I think is true and so does Melanie J. Martin in one of her articles she states “Businesses may see certain environmental laws in a negative light if they must adapt their practices and increase spending to comply with regulations.” And if a company is struggling to make it by as it is I don’t think they will survive after paying out of pocket to comply with new regulations. The laws we have in place today in Texas I think get the job done and their not to extreme.

“Much of our background is actually in rock music prior to doing electronic music,” said Freddy. The once rock now experimental electronic the duo of brothers, Charlie and Freddy Avis, has produced an amazing array of progressive music over the past years.
From the cities infancy Aurora has been a front-runner in innovation, in fact; Aurora was the first town in Illinois to light its streets with electric lights, and with this improvement, the small town began to expand. In addition to the light system,
Is there some kind of landscape feature you want to be able to view without being inhibited by your lighting?
I explored on shadowing and drawing in one point perspective for buildings, as well as shadows for the street lights. The risk taking I did was shadowing everything and adding value to it, as I wasn’t very sure I would do a good job on adding value to buildings. I used my creativity and expressed my artistic voice by adding street lights onto the sidewalks instead of leaving them bare and made the sky at night time instead at sunset or the afternoon, as I usually prefer night time over day time. I used a reference for drawing the street lights as I wasn’t sure if I should use a normal looking one or one that looked fancy, so I mixed the two and made the street light that I currently have. I noticed that not many people made their artwork set during night time, so I feel that doing that, as well as adding smaller details on my drawing made it stand out.
Paul Bogard efficiently persuades his audience that natural darkness should be preserved through his use of historical, artistic, and geographical allusions along with a mass of syntax, and personal anecdotes. Bogard commences his argument conjuring a personal story- an encounter with the outdoors in a night setting. The author speaks of his experience in the Minnesota lake “woods so dark that [his] hands disappeared before [his] eyes.” Through this brief personal anecdote a sense of connection is developed between the writer and the reader. Bogard welcomes the reader to recall a joyful night in their lifetime and to conjure past sweet, palatable memories.
In this part of the essay, Bogard provides a comparison of photos of earth from the 1950s to today, citing that light pollution increases by “6% every year.” One can deduce that population increases, technological increases, and growing urban centers are the cause of more lights on earth. With the advancement of human knowledge comes consequences, even consequences that we may not even take into consideration until someone like Bogard calls our attention to them. Many people have had the experience of viewing the awesome photos of earth taken from one of the missions to space or one of the space stations.
This world will never see sunlight, bringing to that spooky characteristic. The Blair Witch Project (Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, 1999) is a great example of how setting will be, with the constant fear of night or darkness, or the constant fear of helplessness, that this film portrays. My film will use similar effects, lighting,
Paris as the City of Light, or the “modern” Paris, emerged in the mid 19th century as the demolition of “Old Paris” by Prefect Haussmann paved the way for the urban renewal program set out by the Emperor Napoleon III. New streets, sewers, and parks, and new town halls, hospitals, and schools were all created at this time. Not all were admired though. In fact, some Parisians grew angry that the historic core of Paris was lost in these bold projects. Lights throughout Paris evolved over the 19th century as well. Candle-lit lanterns that once lit the city became oil-burning lamps. It wasn’t until the year 1900 that Paris was illuminated by electric lighting, and formally became known as “Ville Lumière.” Main monumental spaces such as the Palais de l’Électricité, the Eiffel Tower, and even the new central wide boulevards were illuminated with these lights. Paris displayed the pleasures of the city to visitors who came to experience it, however, it also divided Parisians on the basis that the city’s traditions and memories were destroyed. Despite being called the most cosmopolitan city in the world by Baedeker, its history left out the dark side of it all. Paris was desolated of its historic memories and its traditional morals. However, renovations did bring sunlight and air into the historically beloved unhealthy, cramped streets. Ultimately, this image of Paris is all about its visually appealing aesthetics and does not mention what a true Parisian, in the center-periphery or banlieues, for example, would vision.
