There is never a time when John needs reminded to get his work done. In fact, he pushes others to do more with their time. He is a self-starter who serves as a good example for his peers. My family makes a sufficient amount of money to take care of home necessities, but we only make so much money that we consider higher education a luxury. In addition, growing up without my father I have had to overcome many challenges including a lack of confidence and self love. Over time I have overcome these obstacles and I am proud of the young man I am today. I still find that I am my biggest critic, but instead of getting down on myself, I push myself harder to grow. Making mistakes is something I have accepted and have come to understand in order to get closer to my objectives both onstage and off. Everyday is an opportunity to learn, I make the choice challenging myself and grow as a student and as an artist. My background of growing
Reflecting on all the times in my life that I have had to overcome obstacles there is a long list of mishaps, lessons learned and many other adventures. The top one of the list is going through US Navy boot camp, which consisted of basically being torn down and built back up. In short you are told that the way you have always learned things from as early age is the wrong way and there is only one way the Navy way.
The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
Have you ever been scared to accomplish a challenge? I'm going to be talking about the time when I accomplished one of the challenges that I have always wanted to learn how to do. Some people that were involved or a whiteness of my accomplishment was my sister named Malina and my little cousin named Mazzy .

As a child, I dreamed of becoming a nurse. However, my strong repugnance of blood and needles made a nursing career highly implausible. I had never set any logical career goals. Even if I had, the pursuit of any goal would have had to be put on hold, as I became pregnant at the age of seventeen. When my children were still very young, I thought about pursuing a teaching career and decided to enroll in college; however, my college days were short lived, as I was a single mother of three sons. My middle son faced learning challenges and I felt the need (and desire) to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom and focus on the needs of my children. When they got a little bit older and started
August 27th, Sometimes you just to need to know the facts, and at other times, you will need to put on your best act.
Prompt #2: Describe an obstacle that you’ve experienced. What does your experience show about your character?
Something in my life that I think goes unnoticed is my ability to overcome obstacles that get in my way. I learned at a very young age how to deal with serious events and problems. My life hasn’t been easy and the fact that I am alive is a miracle. On March 15, 1998, my parents were on their way home from a business trip when they were hit by a drunk driver just miles from home. My mother was also 32 weeks pregnant with me at that time and we were not expected to make it. My dad broke his arm, while my mom suffered a horrific traumatic brain injury and other major physical injuries. She had to learn everything all over again. Growing up with a mentally and physically disabled mom was extremely difficult. She would do weird things and get angry
My goals are to pass all my classes of at least a 3.5 GPA, study at least 2 hours a day, and to show up to class everyday as possible. I think the biggest barrier is time and the reasoning for that is because you have to make a schedule of when you’re going to study and when to go to bed, so you’ll wake up on time to class. My biggest challenge is procrastination. This is true because I say I’m going to work on it the next day, but I usually don’t and I wait to the last-minute. I assume that I always have the time to work on it later, but end up doing it the day before the assignment is due. My biggest strength is paying attention and writing notes. I say this because I was always taught by my parents, if you pay attention and write notes,
In my life I have faced many obstacles. There has been times when I was unsure about how I was going to handle a situation and how I was going to move on from it. Although some obstacles may be abominable, I am a firm believer of "everything happens for a reason". If God brings you to it, he will help you get through it.
Going through your life without an obstacle or setback is unrealistic. You are bound to have them no matter what you do. Some obstacles are harder to get over than others and some are minor and easy to deal with. All of them though, are very important to your life and shape you into the person you are now or will become. Everyone deals and manages with them differently, but it’s how it affects you after that is important. Did you come away from it stronger or weaker? Did you learn a lesson or not? Each obstacle you overcome should hopefully make you a better person in some way, shape, or form. I have had many personally, but one that has impacted me the most had just recently taken place in my life.
Benjamin Disraeli once said, “There is no education like adversity,” a quote that resonates well with me. Through twelve years of schooling, countless advanced classes, and learning opportunities, I would consider myself well-educated; in reality nothing has prepared me for life as much as my biggest obstacle. Two weeks, vital time for a developing fetus. However, what happens without those last two weeks? In my case I was still developing my final touches, the consequence being bilateral hearing loss.
As Voltaire once said “ No problem can stand the assault of sustained thinking” and with the help of Google, I am pretty positive I have at least a little understanding of what this quote’s purpose is. As we live our lives, we are faced with obstacles to overcome to accomplish certain goals we are after. When these obstacles or problems arise we have to stop and think about how to solve the issue to be able to move past the issue, and continue to work towards our goals.
All the challenges and obstacles we face in life have a meaning behind it. We all fear the fact of failing or even being looked down on and labeled as a failure. In school we all are measured with results, you either fail or pass, no in between. At first, people are afraid of failure, instead of embracing and learning from it, they run away from it and try their best to ignore it. We all fall under this subjective viewpoint; it’s just that it is the initiative of getting right back up and learning from your miscues leads to success. We all detest the matter of failing and not coping with the expectations, but in terms of reality, I believe that we should embrace failure and use that as a building block to success.
