In the story We Beat The Streets, the three people, who are now successful in jobs, once had to overcome some major obstacles. Some of these obstacles had some type of positive outcome. These obstacles probably shaped them into the people and doctors they are now. Sampson Davis, who was more of a follower rather than a leader, had an obstacle where he stole. Both times he stole, he wasn't paying attention to his actions and what the outcome would have been like. Sampson didn't really think before he acted. His actions taught him that stealing will get you in trouble and you can be put in jail. He also had to overcome his foot being inquired by concrete. This is one of the more minor obstacles, but being so young and having your foot broken
In the book We Beat The Streets by Drs. Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt with Sharon M. Draper, the tree doctors had to overcome the ghetto projects in Plainfield and Newark while growing up. First, They had to overcome money problems; money problems where a problem all the time for example in the chapter “ How much do you need?” His grandma gives Rameck, one of the three doctors money for a portfolio to be in a play. It was $150 that his grandma gave him to become an actor, but when he got to his house his grandma told him not to give the money to his mom. Ramecks mom did drug, she spent all of the money on drug and their power was out and his little sister needed food. His mom asked for the money to turn the power on but Rameck
Throughout everyone's lifetime, one will confront an obstacle. Obstacles can obstruct or hinder one’s process. Most of the time obstacles have a negative a affect on people because of how difficult they can be. Not making a team, loss of a loved one, loss of a job are some examples of common obstacles that occur to many people. Obstacles are barriers that block people from pursuing what they want to do. They are present in every journey of our life, no matter how big or small. The importance of overcoming obstacles is learning new skills, determination and creating new opportunities.
Some obstacles I had to overcome were mentally challenging situations. I always had people saying I couldn’t do it because it’s too hard to get into, especially for younger people, as me being 25. Another mental challenge is that it’s all on me, if I mess up I can’t blame no one else but myself. Odysseus had a challenge of this because he led his men on this journey as said in book. They trusted him, like my horse trusts me. We both had a lot of mental pressure from this and neither of us could mess up.
The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
People are faced with many hindrances throughout their lives. They happen on a daily basis. Personally, I've been faced with more obstacles than I can count. I overcame them, though. Through my integrity and willpower, I solved these problems.
Three men grew up in what some called the ghetto, what others called disgusting and dangerous, and what they called the toughest neighborhoods of Newark, New Jersey. They had to combat drugs, poverty and lack of money. They had to live through tough circumstances, but stuck together and achieved their dreams. I can relate at certain experiences, but my life is certainly much easier at this point. Now they are three doctors, and they have a New York Bestselling Book.
An obstacle I have overcome in my life is school. In school I have to work a little bit harder than others so i don’t fall behind. My choice to try harder helped me to keep going. If I didnt choose to work harder and keep going i would never get anywhere in life. I think having to work harder than others pushes me to be my best and makes me a stronger person.
Have you ever been scared to accomplish a challenge? I'm going to be talking about the time when I accomplished one of the challenges that I have always wanted to learn how to do. Some people that were involved or a whiteness of my accomplishment was my sister named Malina and my little cousin named Mazzy .
Starting my second semester in Modern I, I was really excited to see what new things I would learn and what new goals I needed to set for myself. I was definitely ready to push myself and work even harder than the semester before. During my second semester I set only two new goals and kept one from first semester. The two goals that I set included, getting stronger in my inversions and watching the alignment of my hip. The goal that I kept from last semester was making sure that I was coming to class alert and ready to work. After second semester mid-term, I started to work a lot on building strength in my arms. During class, Professor Hapke would always come over to me and fix my arms while I was in downward dog. To make sure I was gliding
Phillip stated his best part about college is being able to learn, having professors who actually care and being in organizations that are made to help minorities succeed.
I think the person who overcame the most major obstacles is Nick Vujicic.I think that Nick overcame the most obstacles is because he was born without limbs and when he was born his mother couldn’t come to terms with the fact that he doesn’t have limbs so it took her a little while to get used to this change.Nick’s mom had a premonition that something is going wrong with her pregnancy so as soon as Nick was born without arms and legs it was a shock to everyone.Nick was bullied at a young age because he wasn’t like other kids and he was the first disabled person in the Australian school system. At one point in Nick’s life he tried to commit sucide”When I was 10 years old I wanted to commit suicide.”pg. 1. because he felt like he couldn’t do
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a nurse. However, my strong repugnance of blood and needles made a nursing career highly implausible. I had never set any logical career goals. Even if I had, the pursuit of any goal would have had to be put on hold, as I became pregnant at the age of seventeen. When my children were still very young, I thought about pursuing a teaching career and decided to enroll in college; however, my college days were short lived, as I was a single mother of three sons. My middle son faced learning challenges and I felt the need (and desire) to be a full-time, stay-at-home mom and focus on the needs of my children. When they got a little bit older and started
When i come upon an obstacle i learn from it and turn it into something good. For example, in the book the “The inner castle” lori, the main character, would have to move from school to school due to her father's work. However, rather than her seeing it as a bad thing she looked to the bright side and made moving from schools every 4 months an opportunity
The poet Rainer Maria Rilke says that "a work of art is good if it has sprung from necessity” (Farley). Hip Hop was born on the poor and dangerous streets of the USA. Minorities such as African-Americans and Hispanics dominated these streets, and they felt the need to address their long-standing common issues. Therefore, a new form of art, hip hop was born, and became the method of self-expression for these minorities. Lyrics have presented what they have been through. While rap has turned from a tool of self-expression to a multi-billion dollar industry, it has continued to constructively affect the social and economic structure of the society. While serving as a good alternative to the streets, hip hop positively uplifts the cultural barriers within the society and educates the youth.
“The smile on my face doesn't mean my life is perfect, it just means I appreciate what I have and what God has blessed me with” The unknown person once said. That quote really ties into the character named Quarta from the book named “The Girl Born Who Was Born With Only 2 Arms And 2 legs,” because Quarta has only two arms and two legs which is different. People need to give her another chance and stop underestimating her.
