Your educational, research, and/or employment experience as it relates to your continued training in research.
I graduated from ASMSA, an institution under the University of Arkansas system, and received several hours of dual credit from classes taught by PhD professors. Thus, I am entering my first year of college as a junior, but with no gpa as it did not transfer. For my senior thesis at ASMSA, I worked at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) under Dr. Roy Morello during the summer after my junior year on the expression of Osteogenesis Imperfecta-associated CRTAP/P3H1 complex in E. coli DH5alpha. I conducted research on a severe form of Osteogenesis Imperfecta, created a paper and poster explaining my research, and

I am interested in obtaining a deeper understanding in the chemical process of diseases associated with genetic mutation. After conducting research on rare bone diseases at UAMS, I became enthralled with how chemical and protein deficiencies can be altered via chemical and bacterial manipulation. This interest carried over to protein deficiency diseases dealing with blood. This preceding summer, I spent portions of my free time researching genetic mutations and that cause problems with blood processes. I am interested in Dr. Robert Hammer’s work on liver homeostasis mechanisms because it fits my interest on the biological manipulation of pathways to counteract protein deficiencies. Dr. Lily Huang’s work on the molecular mechanisms governing cytokine receptor signal transduction in hematopoietic cells is another research area I am attracted to due to its focus on hematological diseases caused by deregulation. I am also interested in the work of Dr. Marie-Alda Gilles-Gonzalez due to its focus on the understanding of the mechanisms of living organisms and their interactions with gases central to the regulation of physiological processes. Another research area I am attracted to is Dr. Helen H. Hobbs’ work on outlining the genetic determinants of plasma lipoprotein levels and cardiovascular risk.
Your plans for the future professional or graduate education, such as, PhD, MD, or MD/PhD.
After my undergraduate studies, I plan to enroll in an
Planning to become a doctor since the age of ten has allowed plenty of time to plan my pathway to achieve such. My professional goals are reflective
Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a rare genetic disorder caused by a gene mutation in which bones break easily, often with no particular cause. OI can cause extreme pain and discomfort. There are several types of this disorder ranging in severity. The population affected by this disease ranges by type from one in every sixty thousand to one in every thirty-thousand.
Going off to college, I hope to pursue a major in biology and gain more experience in research labs. I want to explore different genes within various organisms and learn about their intersectional functions. I hope to understand how to enhance or reduce a gene’s expression in order to repress diseases within the human body. After college I will go to medical school and obtain my Doctor of Medicine degree and later pursue a PhD. In the future, I hope to open a research clinic that allows scientists from diverse fields to work together and develop cures for different diseases.
I envision the next ten years to be a time of intense personal growth. I will be building upon my strengths and improving my weaknesses. I hope to be fulfilling my goals and crossing things off of my bucket list. I hope to have the financial security to be able to help my mother retire, and help my younger brother to finish graduate school. I hope to be involved within my community, whether through volunteer work or a community-based organization. As for my career, I see myself working as a primary care physician. I am drawn to the long-term comprehensive care aspect of Internal Medicine and the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population in a variety of settings. This role aligns with my personal values in regards to health maintenance.
In five years I intend to be happily married, and continuing to live a happy life as I am now. I intend to be planning a family and fostering the relationships with my family and my husband’s family. I will be involved in the community, helping to ensure safe environment for my future children. Regarding my career, I hope to possess a supervisory or specialist role at
This patient is most likely presented with osteogenesis imperfecta. This disease is characterized by a group of genetic disorders that mainly affect the bones, in which the patients have their bones break easily resulting either from mild trauma or no apparent cause. Multiple fractures are commonly seen, and in severe cases, can occur even before birth. In milder cases only a few fractures may be seen. There are several types of OI, at least eight recognized forms of osteogenesis imperfecta, from type I through type VIII. They can be distinguished by their signs and symptoms, although their characteristic features may overlap (Greeley, et al., 2013). This patient apparently has the severe forms of osteogenesis imperfecta, including type I, which are characterized by bone fractures during childhood that often result frequent bone fractures from little or minor trauma. This child presented with a blue or grey tint to the part of the eye that is usually white,
During residency, I learned so many things about myself. As I matriculate through school, I have been thinking about my goals. My goal is to ultimately own my own practice. I would also like to have a non-profit organization that caters to teenagers. My short-term goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor for the state of Georgia.
When it comes to my education and career goals I have very many. The first one is to finish high school and in Fall 2017 I will be attending National Park College for the RN to BSN program. After I gain field experience I plan on furthering my education and becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Currently taking a Medical Professions and Terminology class at National Park to help further my knowledge for this career. Through this class I have also become a Certified Medical Billing Specialist (CMBS) and a Certified Medical Records Technician (CMRT).
We do not know for certain about when OI started. Perhaps when sin entered the world but we do know that it has been around for a long time as you can see in these pictures.
My larger vision is becoming a biomedical engineer. What interests me most about the field is the intricate combination of two seemingly opposite characteristics. Engineers are sometimes seen as people who are on an elevated level of intelligence, but a below average sense of interpersonality. As a Biomedical Engineer, you are required to interact closely with patient. It’s impossible to complete a job without getting to know a patient. You have to identify their ailment or whatever else may be troubling them, and incorporate different levels of math, science, and technology to resolve the issue at
The world after high school is the real world. Something I can only imagine, but I’ve done my best to plan out the future. The opportunity to do anything I want is a great one, so I planned out the outline of a future I plan on make my reality. I have no idea what lies ahead, but I plan on succeeding. After graduating from high school I plan to return to my high school to be Certified Medical Assistant (CMA certification).
My hope is to finish my career in private practice. My background in education gives me a deep-seeded passion for learning. I am looking forward to embracing all that there is to learn throughout my journey to becoming and serving others as a
I hope to possibly work for a sports team and or be employed at Kaiser as a sports or shoulder and ankle specialist. I have seen so many sports specialist, but every time I pay a visit I am fascinated with all the certain types of specialty doctors have. I want to be different from some doctors though. Instead of calling me Dr. Thai I would want people to address me as just Jason, for the reason I believe that titles create barriers. Ultimately, my biggest goal would to one day travel the world to third world countries to provide help to those in need. With the knowledge obtained from college, I could work with others to make the lives of other abroad a life worth living. I am not pursuing this career for the money, but for the reason that I may help those who may not even be able to afford doctors. My aspirations now were shaped by my favorite aunt. My aunt was a dentist who sacrificed time with her family to take care of mine. She would give everything to see my family happy. I remember she sang the song "My Heart Will Go On" as I played the song on my trumpet. She passed away a couple years ago, and I was unable to thank her for all she has done. When it is finally my turn to join her, I can finally tell her thank you. Her heart truly did go on, and I am ready to work hard to achieve my goals. For now I make progress day by
becoming a faculty member in the Prosthetic Dental Department at my alma mater, King Saud
I want to do many things in my future. As well as being a doctor who helps people, I want to live life and just be there. The future is
