he book “The Outsiders” was written by S.E. Hinton and was published in April of 1967. This book was written by a young 15 year old female whose book was published by her last year of high school when she was 18. Her book gives a good example of how young adults live through a hard time of appearance vs. reality. Hinton made this book very interesting to the majority of her readers by explaining Ponyboy’s courageous journey. This book became a top reading book by how much it applies to real life culture. “The Outsiders” give a good representation of how life can be hard in times of need for any type of person. The meaning of any type of person comes from the book’s description of two groups called Greasers and Socs. The characters help the
Stereotyping plays a large role in the events of S.E. Hinton’s novel The Outsiders. The two main opposing groups, the Socs and Greasers, constantly face problems because of the stereotypes associated with their social groups. As seen in the novel, stereotypes and prejudice cause extreme and unnecessary conflicts. Both groups have predetermined opinions of the other, but as the story progresses, many of the characters begin to realize how similar the groups can be. The stereotypes observed in the novel can easily be compared to those in real life. Both the Greasers and the Socs share many of their opinions with the other members of their groups, and this leads to many misunderstandings. In fact, most of the conflicts in the novel are caused
Ponyboy’s goal is to return home and face the consequences of his and Johnny’s actions (killing Bob, running away…) “I had thought of turning ourselves in lots of times.” (page 87) “I was glad we were going back.” (page 89)
How can two people that belong in the same gang be the complete opposite of each other ? how do little boys turn into thugs and go to jail at age 10. However, in S.E Hinton’s novel the outsiders , their are two characters that are alike. Johnny and Dally are similar because they both have abusive parents that do not care about them and place very little value on their lives. Yet despite these similarities is that Johnny Follows the rules and Dally breaks the law on purpose and when the church burnt down johnny went to help but dally did not.
Life is short because in the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton there are two groups called the Socs and the greasers that dislike each other. When two of the greasers kill one of the socs out of self defense, the boys go into hiding inside an abandoned church. Somehow the church caught on fire when they were away, and some kids were playing inside. Johnny and Ponyboy went inside to help the kids, and Johnny was badly burned. Ponyboy had a couple cuts, but is ok . Johnny was rushed to the hospital where he later died at the age of 16. One lesson learned in this book is that life is short
The city of Tulsa is the biggest city in Oklahoma today. However, it wasn’t always like that, especially in the 1960’s where Tulsa had barely started to expand its physical limits. The writer, S. E. Hinton wrote the book, The Outsiders in 1967, which was set in Tulsa, Oklahoma and depicted many details about the city. While some of the details are a little far fetched, a fair amount of the are true. One similarity is that of Dairy Queen the restaurant, which used to be a restaurant called Tastee Freez, which many people in Tulsa loved. Another detail of the city that relates to the book is the amount of crime in Tulsa. In the 1960’s, there was a total of forty-four thousand five hundred ninety-four crimes which included burglary, robbery, automobile

How many people do you think get jumped daily? Too many. The novel The outsiders S.E Hinton is about many gang violence situations. A few could have been walked away from, consequences could be death of friends. S.E Hinton’s theme “things all rough all over” is evident in the struggles the greasers and Socs face. Greasers gave the greater struggle because they live in poverty and they have a bad reputation of being hoodlums.
Paragraph 1 The Outsiders was put into the genre fiction because the story is made up. It was however based off S.E Hinton’s high school years, but it is not a complete replica because the story does not include S.E. Hinton herself. The story has a lot of realistic details but since it’s not real or have any real info in it has to be fiction. The story also does not have any other elements that would make it fall into different genres. Paragraph 2
The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton which had its 50th Anniversary, was stated to be one of the most influential young adult books of its time. One of the reasons behind this statement is how well teenagers can connect with this, this is most prompted as in Ms. Hinton's’ interview she states, “I think that’s why it still resonates with teens because they feel like that,” she said. “Your feelings are over the top. You’re feeling and seeing injustice, and you’re standing up against it.” With this, there is also the fact that it has a very strong character development with the relationship between the members in each of the gangs. With this novel, it also contradicts the fact that a man with such masculinity wouldn’t cry, which many teenagers today

One theme in “The Outsiders” is that struggle is just something that brings someone down in life, but is leading them to something great. To explain this theme. He had an opportunity to build his own story in life but ever since his parents died, he had to work two jobs and take a decision that would change his future. One quote to prove this is on page 26 where it states “The only thing that keeps Darry from being a Soc is us.” If Darry took the scholarship the he would have been very popular, had a good amount of money and not have to
