Background Information: Paper towel is a common household cleaning item in almost every house. They clean up spills and messes. It is important that you have a good quality paper towel so you can clean up messy spills easily without a hassle. They should stay together and not fall apart into shreds. Paper towels were invented by a man by the name of Arthur Scott. He lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the time he was inventing it. He invented paper towels in 1931. Arthur Scott invented it because he wanted to prevent the spread of illnesses and germs since back in the days they use to have 1 cloth in public restroom which everyone would use. While I was researching on the internet looking at commercials I have found that in other people’s tests is that bounty is the most absorbent paper towel. The fibers in paper towel make them to be absorbent. The thicker and more woven the paper towel is the more liquid it will absorb and trap. All paper towels have air pockets and that is where the liquid will go in order to be absorbed. Air pockets get formed when factories stamp shapes in the paper towel to give it a quilted look. …show more content…
When paper towel gets wet the liquid sticks to the cellulose fibers and the paper towel will absorb the liquid. That is why some paper towel is more absorbent than others because they have more cellulose. In the experiment we will be using four different types of different paper towels which are all listed in the variables. We are using four different types to see if you really need to spend a lot of money on paper towel. Paper towel is made out of which is taken out of wood or fiber crops. It usually has multiple sheets on top of each other for better
Bounty seems to be more absorbent because it has tight stitching, which creates a larger surface area than other paper towel brands. This means that there is a larger amount of cellulose fibers in Bounty paper towels. Bounty is also thicker and softer than both the Sparkle and Dutch Fork High School paper towels, which are major factors that play into the absorbency of a paper towel. Based on this research the hypothesis was if Bounty, Sparkle, and Dutch Fork High School paper towels are tested for water absorbency, then Bounty will absorb the most water since it has the greatest absorbency factors out of the three brands. There is constantly new paper towels being created and promising that they are more absorbent than others, but the only way people will know is by testing them out, which is why this experiment was conducted. In this experiment, the independent variable is the different brands of paper towel. The dependent variable is the amount of water each brand of paper towel absorbs in thirty seconds. The constant variables are the amount of water the paper towels are in, the amount of time the paper towels are in the water, the amount of time the paper towels are allowed to drip after being taken out of the water, and the tool used to measure the amount of water
Bounty Paper Towels, known as the “The quicker picker upper” started in 1957 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They are known as the quicker picker upper because they are so absorbent because of the pattern they have and also because they are 2-ply which makes them thicker and more absorbent. At the time, other brands were promoting how strong they were and how soft they were but did not really ever say much about how absorbent they were. After research they discovered that really all customers cared about was how much they absorbed, so that is what they started promoting. In 1965, they came out with a two-ply paper towel that was thicker and softer than any other paper towel on the market at that time. Bounty Paper Towels are made
These steps would be repeated for all three paper towel brands. At the end of the experiment, the paper towel that held the most quarters would be the strongest. Data for experiment still needed to give a conclusion to project.
Three paper towels A, B, and C where tested on absorbency. This experiment was tested twice. Paper towel A was 26.5 by 28 centimeters. Paper towel B was 26.5 by 28 centimeters. Paper towel C was 15 by 28 centimeters. Scissors were obtained and each paper towel was cut to 13.5 by 15 centimeters. The weight of the three paper towels at this size was 0.9 grams dry for paper towel A, paper towel B weighed 0.8 grams dry, and paper towel C weighed 1.2 grams. Three beakers weighing 12.2 grams each were obtained. Each beaker was filled with 100ml of water with the outcome of them weighing 128.1 grams each. The weight of each paper towel dry was deducted from the weight of each paper towel. Paper towel A was left to soak for seven seconds.
Paper towels are made from softwood trees which contain long fibers. The tree goes thru several processes before it is actually turned into a paper towel. The paper towel is made from pulp in which the water is removed and the fibers then bond into sheets. Also, resin is added to the process to give the paper towel strength (Union). Several layers are then put together with adhesive and then formed into a paper towel (Choudhury). Some paper towels are embossed to form air pockets which help to absorb more liquid and help to add more strength (Union).
For example, a cotton bag from salt, would be washed, bleached, and cut into wash rags. The wash rags would eventually become one of the following; a dish cloth, a wash cloth, shoe-shining cloth, window-washing cloth, to scrub or wax floors, to make bandages, make kite tails, or to tie boxes and papers together. A lot of the time, a cloths would be used for all of those.
Through my life I have usually been on the receiving end of racist comments, such as wetback fieldworker etc. In seventh grade I had to go to a public school because of moving reasons and that is where the comments started. I can honestly say that it was the worst experience of my life. There were only two Mexican in my class; I was one of them. The other student was also Mexican, but the catch was that he was a well know soccer player. I also played soccer, but I was not the all-pro player. Since he was so good and so well know no one ever said a word to him. The first day at school everyone was nice to me. The first couple days were great, Everyone was friendly and willing to accept me. Going into my second week of school I

“First, the linen rags, were broken down into fibers. Second, the fibers were formed into a durable sheet of paper. The suspended fibers were created by pounding the rags in water. After the pounding, the fibers were then ground into pulp on stones and processed into a pasty liquid in a vat of water. The paper maker, then lowered a sheet of metal mesh into the slurry covering the mesh with the linen cellulose paste. The mold was lifted above the slurry as it was gently shaken, allowing the excess moisture to drain. The delicate, damp sheet was then carefully removed from the mold and placed between two pieces of felt on the flat table of a screw press. Then, the process was repeated and another wet sheet was added to the stack and topped by felt, and so on until a suitable stack of paper and felt separators was achieved. The stack was then squeezed with the press to purge as much water as possible from the sheets of paper. The sheets were then hung up to dry on a line

In the 1790s members of the industry in both Paris and London were working on inventions to try to mechanise paper-making. In England John Dickenson produced the cylinder machine that was operational by 1809. Although useful for smaller enterprises, this lacked the large scale potential of the machine resulting from the invention of Nicholas-Louis Robert in Paris, which had a more complicated incubation period. The last of the early improvements to this machine were financed by the Fourdrinier brothers in London, and it was after these brothers that the machine was named. The Fourdrinier could produce paper of virtually any size for the very first time, limited only by the width of the continuous wire mesh upon which the paper was made.
The state having to repay Medicaid may mean a cut in billable services for Nebraska DD providers. In a staff meeting at Nebraska-DHHS, DD Director Courtney Miller, “the proposed plan is to allow 35 billable hours of Day Habilitation per week instead of 40. This should save money and pay what is owed to Medicaid-CMS” (Miller, personal communication July, 2nd, 2017). However on problematic billing issue with Medicaid, the Omaha World Herald article mentions, “it’s more instability to a system that’s struggling to begin with,” said State Sen. Colby Coash of Lincoln, chairman of the Legislature’s developmental disabilities oversight committee. We really can’t afford to lose any providers” (Omaha World Herald, 2014).
The nurses receive brief report from the paramedics and sign the report. Because the patients normally have multiple signs and symptoms, the ER nurses need to perform a focused assessment and head to toe assessment. They find out the causes of the chief complains and conduct several tests. The nurses ask pertinent questions in regard to additional signs and symptoms. In trauma, they perform immediate treatment and to prevent respiratory distress by following ABC’s rule.
As an advance practice nurse, I would integrate evidence-based principles by keeping myself up to date on current nursing research. For instance, hand washing is a simple practice based on evidence that has shown to decrease spread of infections from one person to another. In my daily practice, I wash my hands before and after seeing each patient. Many research studies have shown handing washing is simplest and most effective way to prevent spread of infections in any environment such as home or in a clinical setting. I always stop and remind staff when I see them going in patient room without disinfecting their hands. Also, when I discharge patients I educate them on importance of hand washing to prevent spread of germs. I have joined emergency
