Paranormal Effects on People with Power The topic of paranormal phenomenon is an interesting one. People from all over the world who share their experiences are sometimes similar, but other times different. Anyone can have paranormal experiences, even people of authority. Such as, police officers, who work late night shifts former Presidents of the United States; like George Washington, who was shown visions of America’s future, Abraham Lincoln, who was saw visions of his own death, And George W. Bush, who claimed to have seen a ghost coming out of the Lincoln Bedroom in the White house. Many researchers of the paranormal believe that people who have these poltergeist experiences are mostly under some type of stress whether it may be physical, emotional, or psychological. Police officers are skeptical people, and they have a right to be. They spend sleepless and stressful nights on the job, and are sent to investigate emergency situations that always put them in the line of fire; so they never know what they will run into. There are many cases in which police officers encounter unexplainable phenomena such as, alien and UFO sightings, religious happenings like possessions, and seeing angles and demons. Some paranormal researchers believe that the people who have poltergeist experiences are most likely under some physical, emotional, or psychological stress. According to Stephen Wagner, there are different types of ghost. Some are known as, “intellectual hauntings”,
This shows that people thought it was super entertaining to hear some of these stories of people communicating with the dead. In the article "The Haunted House" by Valerie Worth it talks about some people go in and explore a old, earey haunted house, but they are not scared. I the article it says “Its echoes, Its aching stairs, Its doors gone stiff at the hinges, Remind us of its Owners, who Grew old, who Died, but Who are still Here: learning In the closet like That curtain rod, Sleeping on the cellar Shelf like this empty jelly jar.” (Worth 9). This shows that people there going out of there way to in some way get to interact with ghost, because it entantering to people to be scared. In conclusion, people are addicted to being scared, and hearing these stories of people talking to the dead which simply can not be understudied, or even scientifically
Singer and Benassi (1981) described a positive correlation between environmental uncertainty in western countries and occult beliefs. Although it could be argued that they may be overreaching with this generalization which is not supported with data, there is truth to this correlation. Humans try to be rational, and logical, and think critically, but in uncertain situations, we look to our environment, the physical and social environment, to provide us with information. Therefore, superstitions and supernatural phenomenon seem possible if no logical explanation can be given, and if the feedback from the environment reinforces what could be occult beliefs. French, Haque, Bunton-Stasyshyn, & Davis (2009) conducted an experiment attempting to investigate whether they could try to create a “haunted” room, and if participants would experience more abnormal sensations. Participants were informed they may feel some abnormal sensations prior to entering the room. Majority of participants reported having three or more abnormal sensations in the 50-minute period they were in the room. These sensations can be a result of susceptibility, but the uncertainty of that environment, and the lack of information may create these sensations and can validate occult
A child’s ghost haunts several rooms on the second floor of one of the buildings. It tugs on peoples’ clothing and its spectral laughter is heard. A woman’s ghost has tapped people on the shoulder and touched them. Books fall from shelves by themselves. Crystals hanging from a set of candlesticks move back and forth when there is no breeze to account for this.
The physiological explanation attributes the impression of paranormal activity to physical causes such as tilted floors, unsquared rooms, blood sugar imbalances and eye floaters (McCue, 2002, p. 6). Lastly, the parapsychological theory includes phenomena that cannot be explained through physical or psychological factors.

Many individuals ponder whether paranormal activity in fact does exist, or whether it is just a hallucination of the mind. Although, this may be a controversial topic, countless individuals can swear that they have witnessed a spirit with their own eyes, as others couldn’t disagree more. In the book, The Hauntings of Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown, the author uses personal encounters of witnesses to justify the presence of a spirit in a historical location. Over many years, people have been inquisitive about abnormal behaviours within their societies and beyond. A typical question pertaining to these behaviours is, “why is he behaving this way.” According to DSM-IV-TR, abnormal behaviour is defined as a person who experiences behavioural, cognitive or emotional dysfunction, associated with distress and atypical in his cultural context (Barlow, Durand, 2009). However, the quest for answers and remedies has drifted people from scientific models to traditional ones. One of such models is supernatural.

Then there's the White House in the United States. Considered to be perhaps the most haunted house in America, there has been several reported phenomenons, many of them believed to be sightings of past presidents of the United States. Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of Abraham Lincoln, believed strongly in the occult and often held seances in order to communicate with her sons. “Wait, what?” My jaw dropped open. Did she just say that ghosts actually existed? “No, not real ghosts. Or at least not what we think of as ghosts”, my aunt chuckled lightly as it dawned on me that I had accidentally spoken out loud. I sunk down deeper into the couch, trying to make logic of what had been said. Looking out the window, I squinted into the Saudi Arabian night sky, shaking my head slowly.
