According to the National Children’s Alliance, one in four girls and one in six boys under the age of eighteen are at risk of being sexually abused but only according to what is reported. In the State of Texas, a professional has forty-eight hours to report any cause to believe a child been abused as stated in Sec. 261.101. As a foster parent and principal, Angela Sugarek and Carol Jeffery had a major moral responsibility and legal duty to report what her three year old foster son was displaying: behaving strangely and an anal injury.
Negative, traumatic events during childhood, otherwise known as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), have been shown to increase the risk of early death and disability of children throughout the course of their lifespan in the United States. (CDC, 2014) Increased exposures to major risk factors, such as the neglect, abuse, and the adoption of risky behaviors, account for the majority of ACEs. This project applies geographic information science (GIS) to explain the spatial relationship between ACE populations and proximity to high-risk neighborhoods in the Bronx, New York. It was also serve as a guide to determine if ACE resources are reaching areas with the highest need by studying the relationship between areas with high ACEs and
"I received from Mr. Rachell the newspaper article about other sexual assaults. Since there were very few similarities and connection between the sexual assaults and the sexual assault Mr. Rachell was accused of committing, I did not believe that this information from Mr. Rachell merited much investigation.” Roma Khanna. The ACE Study was designed to answer the question: “If risk factors for disease, disability, and early mortality are not randomly distributed, what early life influences precede the adoption or development of them (preventchildabuse.org)?” Adverse Childhood Experience does not evoke preconceived notions or biases about the perpetrators or victims of child abuse, domestic violence, or persons with mental health or substance abuse issues. The term “adverse” implies stress. However, the biologic stress response is largely responsible for the negative impact of ACEs on brain development. “Experiences” was the term chosen rather than “Environment” because the latter term can imply exposure to environmental toxins. As framed by the study, “Childhood” refers to the first 18 years of life (preventchildabuse.org).
Dr. Perry excellent writer, his attention to detail with all patient, saved lives and prevented future suffering due to the fact most of his patients were misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis causing inaccurate treatment, for some no help at all. This book caused me to take the time really to understand myself, and ask the important question? Do I have what it take to work in the area of child welfare where children have suffered all forms of abuse? Moreover, wanting to be to participate returning the child back to the neglectful caregiver. When inside my heart is overflowing with tears. The case of seven-year-old Tina, her first appointment with Dr. Perry within minutes in his office she crawled into his lap and began to attempt to open the zipper of his pants. She had linked all men to sexual behavior because she did not know any better. While attending school Tina was “aggressive and inappropriate” with her classmates, and later the facts come out Tina, and she had been, raped and sodomized under the supervision of an adult caregiver. Soon Tina mother finds out the caregiver “sick” son was watching the children and performing these terrible acts of violence. The boy was mentally ill, but the mother was aware of her sick child condition and should have never left Tina, and her brother home alone with him. I believe in justice for the innocent put the sixteen-year-old abuser “mother” in

Today, Americans fail to realize the prevalence and severity of child sexual abuse within the United States. Though crimes of adult rape are of equal importance, the sexual victimization of children, ages seventeen and under, accounted for nearly 70% of all reported sexual assault cases in 2015. To further the issue, arrests were made in only 29% of this child sexual abuse cases; this means that for every ten sexual abuse cases involving children, only three of the perpetrators are convicted and jailed. Why are these supposed perpetrators jailed less frequently than the number of reported child sexual abuse cases? The United States Criminal Justice System fails to provide the deserved protection and justice for the victims of child sexual abuse by not giving proper sentences to perpetrators equal to the damage they have inflicted upon the victim and the continued implementation of the statute of limitations in cases of child sexual abuse.
I enjoyed reading your post, Marcy. The example of your dad’s clinical situation of type 2 diabetes and the nurse practitioner’s identification of the need for a deliberate action was an excellent portrayal of applying Dorothea Orem’s nursing theory. I am glad the nurse practitioner saw the need for a new self-care intervention and that your dad was accepting of her education. The nurse practitioner performed a helping service when she recognized your dad’s free-will and how to reach him using practical knowledge. This was an excellent explain of a concrete situation described by Dorothea Orem (Alligood,
