Patriotism In America

What does patriotism mean to you? For me, it means having freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and all the rights listed in the constitution. Patriotism means having the ability to express your ideas, opinions, and emotions freely without being looked down. A patriot isn’t just anyone who is or was part of the military, a patriot isn’t a white man who believes he has more power than others, a patriot is one who wants to make a change. A patriot isn’t white nor black, a patriot is a free man regardless sex, religion, creed, or sexual orientation. A patriot is willing to support his country regardless any cause.

“What is an American?”- This question has been asked for centuries and for many more years to come. It has been around since colonists sailed to America in the 1600s and throughout the Industrial revolution when many immigrants came in search of work. The numerous different cultures and backgrounds causes this to be difficult question to answer. Being an American means countless things to different people depending on their background, culture, and many other aspects of life. To me an American can be a female, that a caucasian, male, farmer. As long as they both have belief in miracles; that, and a determination to prosper.

American is a word that has a highly debated definition. It is a topic that has been talked about since the beginning of America and it has been argued by both presidents and citizens alike. Americans are people who, no matter their background, goes through life in an almost fearless fashion, conquering challenges as they come to them. An American shows who they are by having certain mental aspects like having an innovative mind, living by the ideals of the country, and being passionate about what they do.

Patriotism in the United States is simply part of the experience, and a great addition to the life of the american person. There’s Memorial Day, Independence Day (one can’t forget this holiday), Veteran’s Day, and so many others. This goes to say that patriotism definitely has its place; it creates a love for your country and the people that reside in it. However, there is a fine line between patriotism and nationalism. Patriotism becomes toxic when it becomes nationalism, at which time it can directly interfere with international relationships, progress, or world peace.

What is an American?- This question goes beyond the dictionary meaning. Being an American is more than being a legalized citizen of the country, but recognizing the vision of the American dream. Despite the diversity between ethnicities and languages that prospers in America. A true American believes in three things Freedom, Equality, and to prosperity . America provides the environment to thrive no matter the person's gender, ethnicity, and economic status.

What is patriotism? Patriotism is- the love that people feel for their country. A few examples of patriotism are: 1. When we stand up for the” pledge” in the mornings. 2. When we stand up for the “National Anthem”. Those are both examples of patriotism. “America is a free country, so people should be able to practice patriotism if they want to, but if they don't want to they shouldn't have to.”

If you were to walk down Main Street America and ask one citizen after another what patriotism means and with few exceptions, you’ll get a passel of some of the most self-righteous but unexplainable and mostly some just out right dead-wrong answers. America’s Founders, the men and women who gave us reason to be patriotic in the first place, would think we’ve lost our minds. Since the September 11th, 2001 attacks, Americans have had the “Feeling” of patriotism. For a great number of people that disappointingly surpasses to make one a solid patriot. I have come to believe that it is time for a refresher for the common American.

Patriotism is an expression of appreciation of one’s country. As Americans, we know a lot about it! Surveys in 1998, 2003, and 2004 found that Americans were the most patriotic people of the world. Driving through a neighborhood in the 1950s, American flags could be seen flying on almost every front porch.

First of all, the definition of patriotism is a love for ones country. In my context that means, saying the pledge, singing the national anthem, supporting troops, and speaking out. As of now, the country is continually modifying itself due to the upcoming generations and the changes around the world. In fact, it is shaping its attention to the needs of the people and for this reason, patriotism is shown due to the approach the leaders of this country have taken towards the circumstances that arise from time to time. Patriotism. When one hears the word, images of a right wing southern American come to mind, or maybe their colourful star spangled banner, rippling in the wind, surface one’s memory. However, the word itself was not intended to be used to describe overenthusiastic Americans alone. Instead, it is a term used to put a name to the feeling of pride, the knowledge that one is part of something bigger than themselves, their country. Everyone shares that nationalistic feeling, no matter how conservative or leftist someone is. You don't often think about this nationalism until the very place you have pride in turns awry.

I believe Patriotism is a meaning with amassed than one define a word. Where you don’t know the capacity if it's something you know, or have the greatest feeling for its significance. For a few people, it may be seen as a love for or a devotion to one’s country. Patriotism is to have respect for humankind who cares for their country that have done numerous effects to have the opportunity to be in this place. In society, a bit doesn’t appreciate the freedom of patriotism that others don’t have, but wish to have.

Oftentimes, we residents of the United States ask what defines us as Americans. These questions evidently are without one answer and vary among citizens. The variety of responses is explicitly due to our histories and experiences within the United States. Correspondingly, presidents Andrew Jackson and Franklin Roosevelt along with John McCain, Upton Sinclair, John Gast, and Elizabeth Blair, display varying identities of what it means to be an American. Manifestly, affiliating as an American embodies both positive and negative attributes like gluttony, patriotism, and ethnocentrism.
