Many animals are just like family members. I am happy to hear that you still have your dogs with you though I am sorry to hear about your cat. The potty training days “ugh” remember them all too well “lol”. My son just gave up his dog “Gambit – Great Dane” he had him since he has been a puppy, but adopted him out to a great family, plus they gave 2 acres of land for him to run around in. His reason was due to being in the service, and where I am living I can’t have any pets. The family that has him, said that we could come and visit anytime.

As an animal lover, it pains me immensely to see an animal in distress. Animals subjected to abuse have no one to defend them, therefore humans need to speak out as their voices. Unfortunately, in our world, many people have a lack self-restraint and control; their defenceless animals become punching bags. I devote my life to helping animals in any way I can. Often times the abused horses and dogs sent to my barn require immense care and attention. I consistently provide the support these underprivileged animals crave. Generally speaking, it is quite morose when people do not properly look after their pets. I believe it is significant to stand up for pets who are mistreated because they, unlike humans, cannot stand up for themselves.

There could be many ways that people may try and ‘milk’ the system which could be a reason why this is a topic of debate but, if the animals are ‘family members,’ then there is reason to believe that owners should have just as much right to use their sick leave for their ailing pet, and bereavement leave for their deceased. Their decision came out of a hope it would be easier for me to deal with. I was holding her in my arms as the doctor placed the liquid into her IV. As a person, who has difficulty demonstrating or talking about my own emotions, I tend to become a more compassionate and understanding person when a friend or a family member is going through an emotional situation. Before, I thought to myself that people would consider me as the last person to get comforting advice from because at times I can be cynical. However, some situations have shown otherwise. Have you ever wondered why so many families have pets? There’s no bond quite like a pet and its family. Pets love unconditionally, they know your feelings, and when you own a pet, they’re always there for you. They make you feel better when you’re down, they bring joy to your life, and they add companionship. When an animal is brought into a family, they become a part of the family, and when they get sick, they deserve the same care and love that a human does. Treating a pet is priceless, because you’re not only making the pet better, but you’re also making the family smile and be happy. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy and relief wash over families’ faces when you heal their family members. This is why I want to be a veterinarian.

Most young children have at least a vague idea what death is—they might know its name, how it affects the adults in their life, that some of their favorite movie or book characters have experienced it—but when a child loses a pet they are confronted by mortality for what is often the first time.

Often times, pets are considered a member of the family. Losing a beloved pet is difficult for anyone to endure. It’s especially traumatic for children who may not understand what is happening.

Not only that but this book taught me a lot of things. It showed me that there is a countless number of people out there who feel a deep connection and affection for their dogs. I’ve loved animals since I was little but no more than a handful of times have I’ve seen other people with such a deep passion for animals and specifically dogs. It taught me that you can grieve for the death of a dog the same way you grieve for the death of a loved one, because essentially, they are the same being.
