I was a patient of yours at South County Pediatrics for many years and am interested in shadowing you for a few weeks this summer. This past year, I completed my freshman year at the University of Arizona as a Physiology Major with a minor in Public Health. In the future, I aspire to go to medical school to become a physician or surgeon.
At this point in my education, I have yet to decide which field of medicine I want to study however, pediatrics has always sparked an interest within me. By shadowing you, I would be able experience the daily life of a Pediatrician in a real-life setting, allowing me to determine whether pediatrics is something that truly interests me as a potential field of study.
I would like to thank you for taking the
A Pediatrician is a child’s physician, dealing with the physical, mental, and emotional well being of the child. You undoubtedly have to have a strong love for children and have patience to be a Pediatrician. If you don’t like children then it is apparent being a Pediatrician is not the job for you. I have dreamed of being a Pediatrician since I was 7 years old, ever since I was rushed to the emergency room for an accident I had. I remember how the doctor interacted with me; he introduced himself, and he explained what a Pediatrician did. He told me step by step what he was doing, as he was doing it, and how he was going to do it. From then is when I realized that doctors were not scary, and since that day I have dreamed of becoming a
As the coming years approach, I want my future to hold both the passion to explore new opportunities and the strength to overcome new challenges. With the experiences of my high school career, I aspire to take all the things I learned to transition into a college environment where my ideas can be challenged and shared. Where I can learn from others; where I can seek the opportunity to make a direct impact towards saving lives. I believe I can do great things. Through tenacity I will not only be gratified in becoming a doctor, but also be able to share my compassion for others through
My true passion for helping others begins with my mother. My mother, Carla worked for Gallipolis Developmental Center for many years as a nursing assistant. Unfortunately, she sustained a severe back injury that ended her career. In 2006, she was rushed into emergency back surgery after several herniated discs ruptured. This left her with severe back pain that she will suffer with for the rest of her life. As a result, I learned to care and to have compassion for those in need. My passion to work in pediatrics stems from my experience of being an aunt. I became an aunt at the age of four and I am now an aunt to six beautiful,
Shadowing a Pediatrician was a fantastic way for me to gain some exposure to the world of medicine. The Pediatrician taught me many things integral to providing quality care to patients. In order to provide proper care for a patient, a medical provider must work hard to form good rapport, understand the symptoms, and come up with a diagnosis despite difficulties or complications.
After graduating high school, I was accepted to Alabama State University and decided to study Biology. I figured that this area would help me study living organisms, life processes and understanding the basic life processes that required different medical provisions. I believed that I would eventually find out if I wanted to studying medicine or counsel people. On May 7, 2011, I graduated from Alabama State University with my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Then I volunteered at Jamaica Hospital emergency room alongside the medical providers and interact with the families of those who are medically
I have always believed that education is an endless process of learning from people who inspire you and I feel privileged to have met several inspirations throughout my journey so far. As a resident, I shall continue to strive for excellence and provide the best medical care possible to my patients. Pediatric Neurology has been my driving force and a dream to pursue. Not only I feel obligated to help children live a healthier life, but I also feel the need to be able to reach out to as many people as possible. My ultimate dream is to foster painless solutions to the children suffering from epilepsy and work on finding a better approach towards the management of this disorder. I am confident that my commitment, passion and experience will help me achieve my dream, and at the same time prove myself to be an asset to your
I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.
The goals that I hope to achieve through this shadowing is to fulfill a portion of the hours of shadowing required by t Virginia Commonwealth University for a student on the Pre-Medicine track. In addition to that, I believe this experience will allow me to understand if a healthcare related career would be a proper choice for me, it has been my lifelong dream to become a doctor and to be of service to the world from a very young age.
For this assignment I chose to job shadow a pediatrician. Her name is Dr. Samantha Witt and she works at Maple Kidz Clinic. In the clinic the receptionists calls kids for check ups, if the parents have any concerns, and they do assessments for the kids like blood pressure, reflexes, and more. The age groups that the clinic works with are ages newborn to 18 and they see about 100 patients per day. The job of a pediatrician is on very high demand and we need more pediatricians to be working in this job, there will always be a high demand for this job because people are always having kids and as a kid you have to go and visit a pediatrician for annual checkups.

I hope to one day alter the lives of people around the world by pursuing an MD/MPH. However, that path was not always clear. My first exposure started in high school where I was a part of the Littleton Health Science Program which would equip me with
If I was granted the opportunity to spend one hour shadowing an ophthalmologist I would prepare by learning the meaning of many composite words and phrases that are used in the medical field. I would familiarize myself with diseases that occur in the eye such as macular degeneration glaucoma amblyopia and strabismus. To make my internship with an ophthalmologist most insightful I would also explore new technology’s being used in the eye surgery industry. To gain insight into their educational career I would research where he/she achieved there undergraduate and medical school degrees. While I am with the ophthalmologist I will take notes on the difference in approach in both children and adult eye care. If this particular ophthalmologist
Shadowing has been an incredibly satisfying experience for me. During the months of June- July 2016, I assisted in many medical areas including pediatrics, family medicine, pediatric emergency, obstetrics and gynecology. I have seen many different patients from an infant born with HIV to a teenage girl with severe bed sores who doesn’t want to leave her bed because she feels disabled in her wheelchair. Over the course of 17 hours, I shadowed five doctors, who gave me a personal glance into the day in the life of a physician. During this time, I assisted in taking patients to their rooms, ordering tests, and interacting with patients on a medical basis. Throughout the entire experience, one patient stood out to me. This patient was a regular

The career I choice is a Pediatrician. I choice to be Pediatrician because I love kids and baby’s and I want to help them any change I can get. The best part I love about this job is I get to see children’s every day. Also I love that I get 90 dollar’s per hours. If I have kids this type of money will help me a lot.
