His father wanted him to be a lawyer but her wanted to explore the West Indies. He was noble but lived in a poor family. When he was just 14 he left his family to explore the Indies in 1514. His education was funded by Pedro Arias Davila. He returned to Spain as a wealthy man coming from Peru with no less of 18,000 ounces of gold. After that he settled down with the daughter of Davilia a year after returning. On May 21, 1542 he died of fever, and his crew sunk it in the Mississippi after they wrapped it up so the Indians would not follow them.
