Myers said in an interview, "War appeals to boys and men. It's exciting and adventuresome." After the war, it’s not so appealing anymore, "I asked if his stomach was bothering him, he said no, that he just couldn't believe he was out of Nam" (Myers 308). This quote is important because it shows that war becomes a part of you. After spending months at war in a foreign country, you being to think that there is nothing else out there. No other thing but war. When Peewee, a character in the book finally left war, he couldn't believe he was out of an area where everything was hostile.
