The romantic period was a time that was in the 18th-19th century in Germany then on to England & France then went on to America. The romantic period was more about art and being individualism, feelings, nature & emotions which then influenced the enlightenment period & also the industrialization movement. They were saying how women are the ones who like the romantic period because they are emotional girls but today it's still popular like people say the “chick flick” movie because it's sappy or romantic. Also, some of the top people who influenced this would be William Blake,Samuel Taylor Coleridge, John Keats, William Wordsworth.
Romanticism first came about in the 18th century and it was mostly used for art and literature. The actual word “romanticism” was created in Britain in the 1840s. People like Victor Hugo, William Wordsworth, and Percy Bysshe Shelley had big impacts on this style of art. Romanticism is
The period of Romanticism, occurring between the years 1800 and 1860, left a significant impact on not only the literature of that time, but the literature of today as well. Prior to romantic writings, the world focused on society and logic. Romanticism allowed people to start valuing individualism and to appeal to emotional responses. This new way of thinking brought new literary styles, themes, and genres that were never explored before and are still found today. The literature of Romanticism allowed people to escape the harshness of reality and enter a different world.
Enlightenment thinkers had a huge impact on how we view, and run our government today. They contributed greatly to the influences we have in our world and even the laws we abide by in our world today. These thinkers were extremely influential to our government and how they shaped the country. The reason being, they had amazing ideas that went for the better of the people, and that was exactly the dream that they had for the U.S. We follow what they said, and thought, and put our own twist on it to make sure that it fit exactly what we wanted for our country and what we want for our country now.
The Enlightenment thinkers had many of the ideas in our government that is in use today. The Enlightenment thinkers had a huge impact on both the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Both these documents impact America and me greatly.
Romanticism was a philosophical, artistic and literary movement that originated in the 18th century. This was characterized chiefly by a reaction against neoclassicism and the period of Enlightenment, which was more scientific and rational in nature. However, romanticism stressed an emphasis on the imagination and emotions. For example, the Enlightenment thinkers condemned the Middle Ages as “Dark Ages”, a period of ignorance and irrationality. The romantics, conversely, idealized
Imagine a candle-lit dinner on a starry night in Paris, the Eiffel Tower just in view with dazzling lights shining into the night. This image is probably what you think of when you hear the word “romantic,” correct. However, this image is a stumbling block when people think of the “Romanticism Period” in literature. Where “romantic” means having a lovely time with the person you love the most, “Romanticism” is a piece of literature written with key themes in mind. Those themes tend to be a strong emotion, imagery or worship of nature, and individuality and subjectivity. The peak of inspiration for these pieces was in the years 1800-1850, and there are famous poems that are well loved today from this period. Many of the poets that you enjoy reading and know are, in actuality, Romanticism writers, and instill the themes above in our minds.
The Enlightenment established many new ideas and created different views of the government and the world which didn't exist before. New ideas of society and government were made with inspiration of the Enlightenment ideas of human rights, equality, and democracy by Philosophers like Voltaire, Locke, and Paine. These ideas changed people’s ideals and views of the government's policies. Enlightenment ideas were the reason why people wanted to change, change their government and the way they were treated and how they lived, because they heard of peoples ideas, such as John Locke's belief of equality, Voltaire’s idea of freedom of speech and religion, and Tom Paine’s concept of the right to rebel. People fueled the American Revolution of
While all the Enlightenment thinkers may have played a part in the formation of america, Montesquieu’s ideals and beliefs seemed to be the most influential
The Enlightenment was a crucial period in modern history for the simple fact that it engendered some of the thoughts that are directly responsible for contemporary social, political, and religious institutions. This epoch, along with the Renaissance, helped to spur Western Civilization out of the Dark Ages and into contemporary conceptions of modernization. Not surprisingly, this time period is characterized by a number of different seditions and the revolutionary tenets that fueled them which were markedly at variance with social, political, and religious notions that preceded them. As these three spheres of life often intersect with one another, there is some degree of difficulty in isolating their specific causes in terms of respective Enlightenment principles. However, history has revealed that some of the most distinguishable characteristics of this historical era are its different ideas regarding the nature of politics and the role of government in ruling over the people, its new regard for and conception of traditional viewpoints of religion, and a philosophical divergence with the past in terms of ethics and psychology; a review of the Enlightenment's most notable thinkers (such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin) readily confirms this thesis.
Writers in The romantic Period wrote their pieces with emotion, compared to the Colonial Period when it was about information, and politics. Writers like Nathaniel Hawthorne, Washington Irving, Ralph Emerson, and Henry Longfellow are some of the writers of this time. They all help shape and, make a path for the Romantic Period. The Romantic Period took place in the 1800’s, and was at its peak around 1850 or so. It originated in the area of Europe and was all about the spread of art, music, and writing.
The Romantic Movement, or period, was from the year 1828 to about 1865. The main feature of the American Romantic period was the celebration and praise of individualism. This time is also considered to be the first period of genuine American creativity. Emotion, instead of reason, became the largest source of inspiration and creativity during this period. All of this was a reaction to all of the constraints that were forced on people during the era of Realism. At this time in history, America was in a great period of expansion, the writers of the American Romantic period were discovering that could create a new and vastly different voice for this new era in
Most of the Enlightenment thinkers such as Sir Isaac Newton, turned to science and did not believe that God was the cause for all of the events happening in the world. This new way of thinking had more people focus on themselves and others instead of turning to God for help. At this time “the mind of the nation was on politics...a forum for the expression of ideas” (The Story of the Times 123). The concept that a need for new ideas had emerged had caused people to self-reflect before coming up with new insight. An Enlightenment thinker named Benjamin Franklin had once tried to make himself a better person by writing an agenda with different moral behaviors. After he had conducted this he had written a piece called The Autobiography explaining
My definition of romanticism is when nature played a huge part to all the great artists and writers of the time. The Period of romanticism took place during the 1800s when individuals put emotion into their work and cared about education, literature, and natural history. The true romantics wanted to escape the industrial age and move away from urbanization and population in general. The romantic revolution paved the way for many writers and artists because people felt free and it gave inspiration for original ideas. Some of the great novelists surfaced during the Romanic age, one of which was marry shelly who wrote Frankenstein a masterpiece during its time.
The romantic period was a time for change and independence. There were so many things going on from the French revolution to women finally taking a stand against the injustice that was sexism. For example, due to the events in France the ruling class in England was feeling threatened. They went as far as to killing the peaceful demonstrators in the process. Tendencies of the 18th Century and rationalism were redefined or changed dramatically. However, the changes during this period were not just political, urbanization was also changing fast. The discovery of waterpower and coal power was causing more machines to be built and for many people this meant great things while for others it meant poverty. Money was relying on people’s work ethic and no longer on how much land they owned.
Romanticism came to be in the 18th and 19th centuries which emphasized the imagination and emotions of romanticism. Many people viewed this type of literature as the quality or state of being impractical or unrealistic meaning romantic feelings or ideas. During this time many poets were encouraged to express their true colors and individual uniqueness. The Romantic Era expanded all throughout the world, and reached poets such as Keats, Byron, Shelley, and Wordsworth.
