Perseverance Theme

Man is fed up with receiving the scraps from the gods. They fight back and it angers the gods, however, the gods need the humans prays to remain strong. A demigod, Perseus, steps up to fight for humanity, even though Zeus, his father, offered him a spot among the gods. Perseus led the journey to get Medusa’s head, and eventually defeated Hades and the kraken. Two significant, well-developed themes of this of this film are humility and perseverance. The definition of perseverance is: continuing in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success. Perseus shows perseverance many times throughout the film. This theme first develops when he shows an interest in ending Hades. Even when most of his army dies and is hesitant to keep fighting, he encourages them to keep going. He defeats Medusa despite his army dying, and even when his dear friend Io dies, he keeps fighting to achieve his goal. Against all odds, he defeats the kraken and banishes Hades from his world. A repetitive theme in this film in humility. It begins when Perseus discovers that he is a demigod. He does everything he can to show that he is a man, and that he despises gods. Zeus gives him a gift from the gods, but Perseus refuses to use it. People tell him to use his gifts to his advantage, but he just responds saying that he must achieve his goal as a man. Although he slightly uses the gifts he proved that he could fight the gods, as a man, and win. At end of the movie Zeus offers him a place with the gods, he declines the offer and explains that he has everything he need on Earth.
