Tennessee, an entire country in itself even though it’s politically considered a state in America. Humid, Redneck, and an extremely southern area, my church went on a mission’s trip down to Mountain City, Tennessee over the summer of 2015. We ventured down due to previous contact with the community and with whom we’d be housed by. Along this missions trip I would not only be exploring the lives of the residents at where they called home, but I would also be developing and growing in my own spiritual faith with God. The campsite that we stayed at was Christian owned and the owner took great diligence in sharing his testimony and leading devotion time every night by a crackling fireplace. Tennessee not only expanded my conception of the world
When you parents tell you not to do something do you just do it anyways. Well I do and this time I think I learnt my lesson. It all started on a normal Saturday and we were gonna go on a hike, but none of us wanted to go somewhere so we just did it at home. We got our bags and water ready and busted for the trail. I thought it was gonna be a normal day and we would all have fun, but I got proved wrong. The trail itself is about three miles and a couple of extra steps, but with the surprise we only walked a mile of it.
One thing that does not interest me anymore is going outside. I used to always love going outside but not anymore that is like the top uninterested thing i'm into rite now. When i was a kid i loved going outside, after i got older i only go outside on the daily-bases now that i'm more mature. When i get in trouble my parents make me go outside for my punishment. Outside is just not interested to me
Humans are animals. Even as developed, personalized, and intelligent as we are, we share a deep connection with every living thing. However, many of the problems in the world result from the human belief that technology is more powerful and can replace the serene, perfect essence of nature. I believe that a connection with nature can heal wounds and help humans find balance in their lives.
I never thought I would be labeled an outsider, a misfit even. As I trudged my way through the halls of my small town high school, I would endure the gazing pairs of eyes, that belonged to my peers, followed by whispering and often times some laughter. I always used zone out during those repetitive speeches and commercials about the effects of gossiping and rumors; never did I imagine that one day I would be on the receiving end of of the everyday potshot. Growing up I was always the center of attention, the one everyone yearned to be friends with, never was I the antisocial child in the corner with nowhere to turn… not until high school. They say high school changes you. They say high school accounts for some of the greatest years of
Ever heard of the Appalachian trail, it’s 2,000 miles of wildness stretched of all you see.
this, this was just the means to an end, nothing more. The dark grey clouds hung
We greeted each other with kind respect. We met on the trail when his wagon broke. I offer to help Curtis Mick Colloni with his wagon. We exchange each other name and we left. I knew he was a skilled doctor and he he would I left the place and I ask Curtis if he would like travel together. As I was walking, I saw Hunter. I ran up to him and greeted him. I met Hunter Norm Cline during the trail when it block by a log. There was a lot of people and together, Hunter organized the group to pull the log. I ask if he would like to join me on the way to Oregon. He said he had 2 other family going on the trail and ask if I would join. He also mentioned that he was the leader of the group. I merge with the group and together we form a wagon
What if you were destined to save your town, would you be heroic enough? What is a hero? Campbell’s Heroic Journey, The Hobbit, and story/ film explains. My idea of a hero is being a person who sacrifices themselves for others, and doesn't think people are less worthy than themselves. The Heroic Journey describes that anyone can be a hero, examples of that would be The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, which is a story about a group of men go on a death defying journey to save the town. The other story is How to Train Your Dragon is similar with other supernatural events. Such as dragons and bugs. Despite having similar heroes, The Hobbit had a stronger Heroic Journey because there were more obstacles.
As we continued along the trail, we were stopped by a very steep hill. Hunter announced that we should dump some stuff from our wagon in order to get on top of the hill. I dump my a tired that I bought recently and a barrel with nothing in it. The trip up the hill was a pain. It took so long to get up the hill I almost fell asleep. My leg was sore and I thinking about giving up. Finally we made it to the top of the hill and we realized that we had to go down the hill. We decided to use our own ropes and slowly descend our wagon one by one. When we descend Curtis’s wagon, Curtis almost fell. He was able to caught himself before he fell down the hill. Well all went down the hill and as we were going down the hill, we saw a divine blue spring
Around two or three years ago my family and I had to move houses. Moving was sudden and we didn't know it was going to happen. This made moving out and into the other house a lot harder. Since we were moving so fast somethings we just decided to leave behind with the person that was still living there. We got most things with us but one thing that we did leave back in the old place was our living room tv. Since we had just moved and my family isn't rich my mom said we couldn't go get a new one for some time. This sucked because I used the tv a lot for watching show, movies, and playing games just like the rest of my family did. Having a tv wasn't something we needed at all but it was always something to do when you were bored and there was no other things to do. Another big thing was my grandma had just gotten us a new playstation 3 and now we weren't able to used it at all because there was no television. Not having a tv was bummer for me and I thought it was a huge problem when it really wasn’t.
About a year ago My church went to Knoxville Tennessee to put on a vacation
Today was the last day of school before spring break and already knew what i was going to do. It was a long day today because i was so anxious to leave. The bell rang for the buses and i was the first to leave. I got on the bus and was headed home. Mom and dad were already packing my bags and i couldn't wait to leave. All the bags were packed and that's when we got in the car and headed for the airport to go to Mt. Everest,
My heart was thumping heavily, as the bus took a turn towards the mountains. I didn’t know why I had agreed, but it was too late to turn back.
“Hey Pete wanna go on a walk through the woods?” my little brother Joey asked, peering through the doorway into my room. “Not today little guy I’ve got a lot of work I still have to do”. Drooping his shoulders, Joey left the room and headed for the woods. ‘What? it’s not my fault I have so much homework. I’d go out with him if I had the time’ I thought to myself. It seemed like I had been using that excuse a lot more lately. ‘I really should be spending more time with the guy… well too late now, I’ll tag along next time’ I decided. For the next few hours I blared my music and flew through all my work. I didn't look up from my work until my mom called down for us to come to dinner. I walked down and sat at the table with my mom and dad; however,
The forecast today was as cold as Antarctica, and the snow plummeted down onto terrain that was as slippery as an ice rink. My heart pumping blood to comfort my frostbitten ears, I rushed through the rigid winter wonderland. If I made one wrong turn my snowboard would make me pay for it. The area I needed to go to was inconspicuous because the pine trees that fluttered in the breeze, blocked the view. I started to falter when there was a huge blast of wind that nearly pushed me back up the mountain. I finally saw an opening and dashed for it like arrow heading towards its target. Once I made it through, I maneuvered my way down the slope. Now at the bottom of the mountain, I looked up at what I had accomplished and thought of how thrilling
