In my opinion, freedom needs to be repeatedly earned, generation after generation. I believe this because years upon years have been dedicated to winning freedom in certain categories, and within our country itself, but after those years, some of the freedoms are taken away. Some people completely devoted their lives to develop free countries, or gain freedom in other ways, and succeeded, but then, the freedom was taken back. I do not see that as being fair. To begin, I believe freedom needs to be repeatedly won, or obtained, in many homes, among many families. Sometimes, the freedom you have in your home is dependent on certain things. For instance, your age or your gender. Age overrules gender in most cases, but gender can still affect this. Age affects things like, when you have to go to sleep, when you have to come home, and the things you may do. When you grow older, your freedoms begin to change a little bit, but still, parents are still protective over what you do. This is because you will start to make your own decisions, at parties or other places, and most the time, your decisions may not be the greatest ones. …show more content…
For instance, people in jail or prison, otherwise referred to as inmates, have basic human rights, the chance to receive medical care, and provided safety. Although, their privacy is mostly always taken away when they are sent to jail or prison, especially if they do something while in the jail. If they break one of the rules of the jail or prison, they are punished. And to punish them, security guards take away more of their freedoms. Also, they can still be searched by security officers without warrants. Finally, one of their main freedoms, is the right to still work, on work release that
Having freedom is what makes the people who they are as humans, and what they are meant to be. Freedom is simple as saying small and easy things, "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows" (Orwell 84). Before anything else, freedom is the most important thing they can all have, because without it,
As Philip Randolph said, “Freedom is never given, it is won.” Philip was a leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement and the American labor movement. We have historically had to learn from our mistakes, such as the Spanish-American War. In the Spanish-American War we were trying to protect people, so we thought, so they fought against us and they fought back. We deserved to right to do what we want after what happened here, we proved ourselves. To me, freedom is learning from you mistakes.
Freedom is an innate right, humans are born with. Nothing should threaten our freedom, deprive us from our rights. Though we must respect freedom of everyone in the society. For me, Freedom is about surrounding yourself by people who motivate and inspire you to be better than you were yesterday, so that you can pursue a meaningful cause, in a manner that leverages your unique strengths.
Throughout the past year I went through a great deal of undertakings that caused me to become more experienced with my skills and how to overcome various challenges. These really built up my character and the way I am today. In all aspects, this past year consisted of going to Killington, Vermont, my brother going into the Air Force, meeting him in Texas for his graduation of basic training, completing a double backflip on a trampoline, landing a front flip on flat ground, accomplishment of a 2 ½ front flip on a diving board, getting 2nd at leagues, and competing in districts. All of these activities have advanced me in a skill or challenged me to an extent.
What does freedom mean to you? Whether it’s being able to speak your mind, being given space for aberrations or even the opportunity to determine your individual decisions, without freedom there is no allowance for mistakes, mess up and one is ancient history. True freedom, whether extensive or miniscule, is neglected in modern society. Take freedom away and you’ll discover the true extent of how forgotten freedom in contemporary society truly is.
Freedom demands peace, justice and unity. Freedom steps in when the going gets rough. It is more than enjoying adulthood as you turn 18, it's the definition of a child taking its first steps towards life.
Jerry wakes up in a dissociative state still hungover from the previous night’s drug binge, nullifying the pain with a fluffy, symmetrical line of Peruvian cocaine and a tightly packed bowl of luminescent green, trichome plastered cannabis nug sourced from California out of his Illadelph bong; naturally, Jerry was quite the aficionado in recreational drug use and progressive dependency. As dopamine floods his prefrontal cortex he’s invigorated with a renewed sense of grandiosity; he looks in the mirror, his eyes are sunken in, the pallor of his complexion is ghostly, an apparition of a once revered public figure. He averts his eyes to his many awards and commendations for a brief moment, before the cannabis takes effect. He brushes
I am getting excited just thinking about being finished with fieldwork next week. It has been another great week and I still continue to learn something new each and every day. This week brought new challenges for me with seeing more kids on my own, but I know Duane is there to catch me when I fall.
For many, their formative years have a large influence on who they become as adults. This can happen in many different ways including new experiences, discovering a new sport or hobby, and uncovering what they are passionate about. For me, this was falling in love with a new language from a very young age and becoming very interested in the culture that was associated with it.
In 2011, I walked through the big red doors of Metamora Township High School at a whopping 92 pounds. I was five foot as a freshman, causing me to be very nervous for the first day of the next four years of my life. High school had its ups and downs, but overall was a very fun experience. What I remember most from high school is the wrestling season, student sections from different sports, participating in football, and making new friends along the way. High school was a very good experience for me to realize my goals in life and left me with great memories.
Admittedly, I've done a lot of things that others would consider abhorrent. I've also been subject to things that others would consider abhorrent but after 12,000 deaths you start to know what's a 'good' way to die and what isn't. I've had my head removed by plasma coated blades, I've been hit by 80GJ Compressed Railguns (you don't feel it), and I've felt what it is like to hold a Locus Grenade in the hand for too long.
As a collective society, it is necessary. The loss of freedom opens up the doors for unthinkable actions. Regardless of external consequences, the freedom must be brought back. This duty may feel like a burden, but in reality it is a right. It is empowering, for it allows every characteristic to turn toward regaining the ultimate positive consequence.“...the orphan who wept with a stranger for a stranger…”(13)
Many things have been done for freedom. We have fought wars in order to get freedom.
People fight for freedom every day. Some people are born into that way of life, but some people work for it and earn it. That is why everyone's definition of freedom is different. What might be freedom to someone who has had it all their life would be different to someone who has never experienced it before. For example, one person’s freedom may be getting to hang out with their friends without a curfew. But, to someone else, it could be having the ability to choose who they want to marry and when, seeing that they do not automatically have that freedom. Freedom is a personal idea being that everyone experiences it in a different way. It’s just like the saying of Yotam Ottolenghi, “one man’s trash is
Throughout the course of history freedom has been a controversial topic in society. There has always been the question of who deserves freedom, what rights fall under freedom and what freedom is in the first place. As a construct, freedom has been well ingrained into modern society and most people that
