In the 6th grade, my whole class was playing a game of soccer. As I was playing defense near the mini goal, a kid in my class went to shoot the ball however at the same time I went to kick the ball. As both our feet collided, I instantly stopped and hopped over to the stage where the teacher was. As I hobbled to the nurse's office, I knew something was wrong but didn't say much. As I sat with my purple and swollen ankle in the nurses office, I started to cry. Days later, I felt as if it was getting better but it still hurt. My basketball team had a game that I felt as if it was really important that I showed up to and played. As I was playing defense I tried to block a shot by jumping up, and as I landed, my ankle instantly was in more pain
Soccer is a game where nothing is predictable. Soccer is a game that’s been around since the eighteenth century and has a different effect on many athletes’ lives, including mine. My sophomore year of high school is over and I was finally over with a long season of high school soccer. Returning to my team of five years I was excited to go back and am comfortable with. Right as I approached my team I saw an unfamiliar face and instantly got intimidated. Trying my hardest to avoid him it seemed as if every time I looked over he was examining my every move. Of course that day of practice was a series of conditioning test to see if we were really doing our fitness assignments over the break. The drills consisted of a pattern of sprint got dragged out all along to eighty yard
Christian like's to play soccer but he isn't that good . He want's to make to the soccer team, but the soccer coach doesn't think that he is good enough to make it, The other soccer players and his parents don't believe in him either.
It was a cold day in November: an icy breeze blowing across a green soccer pitch in Jackson, Mississippi. Fans along the sideline cheering on the Jackson Elite FC. I took the field feeling the pressure of gameday bearing down like i had weights on my shoulders. This was the first time I had every started as a forward in a soccer game. The referee brings the ball to midfield and sets it down. I hear my parents cheering from the sidelines. The opposing team kicks off and the game is on.
When I was eight years old, I played my first season of soccer. The real reason I played soccer was because my dad forced me to play. I loved to play all kinds of sports such as basketball, baseball and football but I was never interested in soccer. After my first practice I already realized soccer was not for me. I told my dad that I did not want to play anymore but he would not listen and made me keep going to practice. At my 3rd practice, the whole team was running laps and I tripped over a stick and fell down. My ankle was hurting pretty bad but I knew I was going to be fine. While I was lying on the ground, I thought to myself If I tell the coach and my dad that my ankle is hurt really bad than I won’t have to play anymore. I thought it was a genius idea at the time. I told them just that and it worked! I have no idea how my dad knew this but once I got home he knew that I was milking my injury. He told me something that night that I won’t ever forget. He told me “you didn’t just give up on yourself, you gave up on your team”. He called the coach the next day and told him that
When I first started playing basketball my seventh grade year, I was playing power forward for the entire year. The team had a tournament one weekend against multiple different schools. In one of the games the team played Ottawa. Our point guard tried shooting a three-pointer and she missed. I jumped to get the rebound, and a girl from the opposing team hit me out of the air and I ended up having my ankle stepped on, causing it to break. This took me out for the rest of the tournament and the rest of the season. I was on crutches for two weeks and then I was put in a boot for a couple more weeks.
From one week to another I started feeling so much pain in my back I honestly did not know what it was I tended not to pay attention to it that whole week. Until at the end of the week it got to a point where I couldn't move nor stretch that was when I realized my high school soccer career would end. I played soccer as a freshman and as a sophomore I always tried my best I was ready for soccer this time and I had just gotten back from a Europe trip which made me learn new things about soccer. My goal for high school was to be able to play all four years since I had already made the team freshman year.
I pulled my red socks up over my right shin guard, then my left. I slipped on my shoes, making sure they were knotted extra tight so they would not come undone. After I brushed my hair back into a ponytail and fixed my headband, I was ready. On the bus, everyone chattered about the upcoming game, music blaring, loud with excitement. The game featured my soccer team, Oak Hills, and one of our rivals, Ursula. Ursula, known for their great passing and winning record, was very well going to be one of the hardest teams we had to play. But, we were prepared and nothing could stop us.
The feeling of defeat is one like no other. It was my freshman year, and I had just made varsity soccer for Vestavia Hills. The goal for the team: 7A state champions.
No, I do not speak Spanish. I didn’t “hop over a fence” to get into the United States, and it may come as a shock, but I have no intention of becoming a professional soccer player. The majority of my life, I have been subjected to preconceived assumptions of what a woman of my race should be like. Having the last name Gonzalez, and bearing the complexion of someone of Latin decent has influenced others to believe that they know exactly what type of person I am. It is for this reason, that I do not only identify myself as a proud Latina, but more importantly as an advocate for multiculturalism and diversity.
Right now as a freshman, my favorite sport to play is soccer. I love soccer because I have some good friends that play with me, Dom, Brody, and Ethan. I don’t want my senior self to forget about the German foreign exchange student, Henry. The practices for soccer might suck, but I like them because I get better at soccer. To become a good soccer player, I will try to get touches at home to get better. Hopefully when I’m a senior I will be great at soccer, don’t let me down senior self. The best freshman soccer player, Rj, will most likely get a scholarship as a senior because he is so good. Despite that people think the Rj is the best soccer player on the team I think that we have two better players on our team, Noah Irwin and Brennon Songer.
One year ago, a friend and I entered to a soccer team, but the team was not the best team. I decided to enter because I play very well with my friend, and we demonstrated it. When we entered the team we started to score many goals. We got to the final, and both my friend and I scored a goal, sadly, we lost. But thanks to us, the team got to the final, and the coach recognized it and he gave us the second place trophy, which was my first trophy.
I once heard a story of a kid who started playing soccer at the young age of thirteen and lived an hour away from anything. He wanted to become a big time soccer player. The first team he played from being HFC, when he went to his first practice it was cold and muddy. He was the worst on the team, but he tried hard and practiced six hours a day. The boy continuously trained and competed for the next year and a half. Until he became one of the most progressed players on his team. Then,he moved to Gulf Coast United where the competition was immensely more challenging. The boy is me and this is where my story begins. I became so infatuated that practicing more and more until it eventually became my life 11-13 hours every day. My team won a lot
I was at Gymstars Gymnastics (my gymnastics gym), and I was about 11 years old, and we were doing vault drills on the floor. I jumped on the springboard, and landed on the side of my foot, it didn't hurt which was weird. I just kept doing everything like normal.
My soccer player is better than all the other professional soccer players in the world. My soccer player is the best because he has wonthe Balon’d Oro three times already and winning that trophy means you were the best player throughout the year.Cristiano has been a person I look up to since he started playing in Manchester United which was in 2003 (source). Cristiano, in my opinion, is the best player because he has broken more records than Messi, his rival, and also because he possesses more skills than his rival. Maybe one of the reasons I respect him is because he has saved many kid’s lives that have cancer by donating blood each year (source).I also respect him because he’s just the best player in the world and I enjoy watching him do unbelievable
