- Committing to a new 20-25 hour per week for school along with balancing my personal and professional schedule will be very challenging, but with much dedication and prayer, it can be done. Like some of my fellow classmates, I am a busy single parent. I currently work 40 hours a week and I have a job that can be somewhat stressful at times. I also have a six-year-old son that is in kindergarten that keeps me very busy every day. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from Bethel University in 2012. During that time I faced many challenges with trying to study and submit homework and have a personal life. During that time my son was also very young so it was difficult trying to tend to a young child and concentrate on homework. My biggest issue
My 20time is on running. In sixth grade I tried out for track, hoping I will be fast enough and would make it. But it didn't turn out that way. It was at lunch with all my friends when I checked the track website and didn't see the name, Carly Jakob, on the list. I was so shocked i started bawling my eyes out. After this traumatizing day I made a goal that I will make the track team when i'm in eighth grade. To do this I knew I had to make many drastic changes. I changed my diet to proper eating habits, and learned facts about form and technique that would help me get through the horrifying try outs and right onto the team.
While the application was throughouh in most of its different sections, I would like to take the time to write more about me as a person, and my personal work ethic. While it could be assumed that I am a good student from my high honors and my advanced classes, those are all just numbers. Numbers cannot justify someone as a good or a bad student. It is my belief that the personal ethic and strageis to schooling along with drive for success is what sets apart the great students from the good students.
I AM WRITING A LETTER REGARDING PART TIME WORK, WHICH ADVERTISED BY YOU IN TODAY'S NEWSPAPER.
I worked on assignments a little bit at time, and attempted to start them as soon as the module was unblocked.
My second job was a cashier at a local drug store. My daily duties included organizing and stocking shelves, providing excellent customer service, and checking out customers. The environment was incredibly nonchalant and the stress level was extremely low. Although many of my peers enjoy effortless employment, the lack of duties disturbed me. I worked the last shift almost every weekend night and was plagued with boredom. There were numerous occasions when I would pick a magazine off the shelf and read it because of the shortage of customer traffic. The job became a waste of time and ability.
I have nothing right now in my life that is holding me back from receiving my degree. Now I can focus on what need to be. I can get all my assignments in on time, and do all my homework in a timely manner. Also the fact that at CCU it’s different as to where at the last school you had to login three times a week, but now I don’t have to login three times I can just do everything that needs to be done in one day. That really works well with my work and at home schedule. With my new job I know my work schedule three weeks in advance, so I’ll be able to map out the day I can do my work with school, and I’ll be able to manage my work load. I will know what days and times I will set aside to get my school done, and homework, and when to study. By looking back in the past and knowing some of the things that held me back from receiving my degree I know what works for me and what don’t work for me. Now I will be more focus on what I have been trying to do which is my goal and that is to be one of the first one’s in my family to receive a
I have been working like a machine for the past seven days. I have been getting up at the crack of dawn every morning and getting our oxen ready to go. I try as best I can to help with breakfast so that Mrs. right doesn't have to take care of us that much. After that I wake the children up, we all eat breakfast, and head on our way. When the sun is high in the sky we stop for lunch. Lunch is most likely a sandwich and a small drink of water, then once again, we pack up, and then continue going. A few hours before the sun is about to set, we set up camp. All of the women start making a big dinner, all of the men round up the animals and put them in the circle of wagons, and the children play for a little while. Once that is done we all
As I worked there longer I met someone who suddenly assumed we were best buds. He would constantly want to hang out at work, but he was one of those take it too far people. In this job we worked with box cutters and would play around with his like a real knife thinking it was funny. One day I had enough and this guy and he said something that just made me want to knock him out. That little cricket on my shoulder always told me don’t do it man. You need this job more than his face needs your fist and thank goodness I was able to walk away.
In order to make school a priority, there is a huge personal obstacle that I have to overcome. My obstacle is time: time for the kids, time for my husband, and time for me. I am a stay home mom, but to supplement our family income I was caring for two infants each weekday for ten hours each day. Also, I feel it is important to be involved in my children’s activities and be present whenever possible. I attend every home track meet, home volleyball game, band concert, Boy Scout meeting, home basketball game, home football game, and all my preschooler’s play-dates. We also attend church every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. I help out with youth trips, teach in a rotation for children’s church and teach in a rotation for fourth through sixth grade bible study. I am busier now that I stay home than I ever was working a forty hour a week job. To work around this obstacle, or rather to work with it, I have down sized my involvement in Boy Scouts, I only watch one infant now, and I use a weekly schedule that helps me give everyone and everything the time it needs.
So, imagine a stocky six foot black man who had a shiny bold head. Alright, now make that same man a veteran and a drill sergeant. Now give that man a raspy voice and an almost permanently
The best thing about reading this year was the strict scheduling. I loved that we were supposed to read everyday and we had a concrete foundation where we were able to choose our own book to read and were able to elaborate on it. With the concrete foundation I was able to always know that I had something to do and I always looked forward to reading the book that I chose.
Sometimes juggling work, school, and family can be quite a hastle. Thirty five hours a week of work, four classes, and and big family can be a lot for me to juggle sometimes. I try to prioritize my time the best I can but sometimes everything doesn’t go as planned.
Last year, in my summer vacation I used to work in a candy factory. It is very big candy factory. I used to work with Canadian and Portuguese people. I was enjoying my work because there people were very nice and helpful. The thing was they had provided me 12 hours shift. It was such a long shift. There I had to carry heavy candy trays and arrange in an order. Also, in packaging line, I had to package all the boxes very quickly and fill the candies in boxes. It was very hard work. In my 12 hours sift, I used to stand for minimum 11 hours excluding break time. In my vacation time, I used to work every day over there. I was getting very tired. I was feeling pain in my back and sometimes in my heel also. That time I was
Attending college full-time and being a part-time employee is a difficult challenge I have faced while pursuing my education. I have had to make extremely difficult decision in previous semesters such as attending school part-time and working longer hours. Initially, I thought finding a school-work life balance would be very difficult, but found out it’s not impossible. I am committed to finishing my education goal, earning my Bachelors in Criminal Justice and my masters in social work, and I will not let my challenges discourage me.
I work well under time constraints. If time is running short, I complete my duties as best as I can without rushing through them. However, I find it difficult to work effectively under pressure. For instance, I currently work at the Papa Johns on campus. I've found that on game days, many people tend to come in after the game is over. It is difficult for me to keep up with that kind of
