Coming to college is hard. You have to keep your grades up through 13 years of public education. You also should obtain a car to get from point A to point B. This also requires having a job to keep the car fueled and money in your pocket to live off of. Motivation is also a tricky thing to pin down. It seems to appear when you don’t need it, and then just vanish when you need it the most. And organizational skills, what are those? These are some of the challenges I faced when deciding to go to college. One of the first things I needed before starting college was a car. If you can’t get to school, not much learning is going to happen. I got lucky my grandparents had an older car they didn’t use. So, this became my trusty steed. But what is a steed without fuel? To keep it gassed and ready to go, I had to have employment. But with my employment, came the need to balance my schedule with school. My employer agreed with me that my education was more important, and we made it work. The challenge then was to stay as motivated in my learning as I was at my job. …show more content…

I have never failed any classes, but have never been a good student. Most of this was due to my lack of motivation when it mattered. If I was interested in the subject, I generally did well in it, because I was motivated. If I wasn’t, I skimmed by in the class. One thing I have realized is that you can’t do that in college. You either get your work done or you don’t, it’s that simple. Keeping myself motivated to do assignments is probably the single most challenging thing about coming to college. But when I get work done, I also have to make sure not to lose
