It was a beautiful night in Chicago. The moon was showering the city with its magnificent light, and the city was booming with noise due to the special event the local movie theaters were holding. The movie theaters were holding a free movie night for some of the top movies of the year 2006. Along with that, they claimed for every person who came, they would donate 50 cents to a local business. Me and my best friend, Zee, slash partner in the detective agency squirmed through the crowd trying to reach the door to our favorite movie of the year “ Monster House”. Even though we both knew that it wasn’t meant for adults we still enjoyed the plot and some of the thrills. As we neared towards the door, we noticed that the crowd had stopped moving and a high pitched scream cut through the air. Me and Zee instantly fought our way through the crowd trying to reach the distressed cry. When we arrived my eyes took a serious tone as I told everyone to evacuate …show more content…
Searching through the wallet, I found a driver's license, a key to an office and an unusual white, laminated card with a three digit code and a name after it. “Lori Trembath, age 40” I read aloud as I put the laminated card in my pocket. Taking the key I brought it closer to the ceiling light. I scanned along the front and back of the key looking for any sign what it is used for. Grinning, I looked at Zee and waved the key in front of him as if I was taunting him with a candy bar. “It looks like we got a possible lead Zee...it's an office key to Lori Trembath’s Family Dentistry,” I said with a smile. Before we arrived to the dentistry we stopped at our place to grab our uniforms and some snacks. Along with that, we made sure to give the chief a call and tell him that we had a possible lead. It was still the middle of the night when we arrived to the victim's workplace. Shutting the car door, we stared ahead at the building in front of
It was a nice summer morning we I was all of a suden shoke like turbulence on a plane to wake up. It turns out I slept threw my alarm to wake up for the day. It was about 11:00 am and today we were heading to Florida and our flight takes off at 1:00 pm. You may think that we had time to make the airport in Milwaukee but, we had to drive all the way to Chicago, Illinois because there was no flight for Florida in Milwaukee. Luckily I had packed the day before with the rest of my family so all we had to do was wait for our aunt Lisa to take us to the aiport in Chicago. She showed up five minutes later with a mini van and there was about seven of us jammed in there. It was alright for me because in our family if you called “shot-gun” or “I
grew up in Chicago, Illinois, a beautiful city surrounded by violence and controversy by the media. I found things more simple when I was kid growing up here, there wasn't much to worry about but as I got older things became more complex here. The sounds of the " L "' or as you know it as, The Train, and the roaring sounds of cars passing by my house made me feel alive while growing up and as a matter of fact still does. You could wake up in the morning and see the vibrant blue skies being pierced by the skyscrapers and see other kids playing ball or riding their bikes. When it was summer time I would play ins sprinklers or go downtown and play in the fountains with my family. Of course, like most big cities I had to watch my back while growing up because you never knew what somebody was up to. It's weird really growing up here because you never know what's going to happen next , wether it's a good thing or a bad thing. All I can really say about growing up in Chicago is that if I had the chance to redo it, I'd do if a million times.
One morning, i was in 6th grade, my sister and I wake up, and we are home alone. We heard large noises on the porch. We went to go peek through the curtain, and there was a man lying on our porch. I called the neighbors, and we both hopped the fence and they let us in. The cops had then been called, while the stranger was still on our porch. The cops arrive and get the stranger and his information. The following day, we found out the man was on probation. The significance of this day, was the neighbors, that we are good friends with, helped us out in the moment of panic, and my sister and I not knowing what to do. Transformation that created fear of this day, was when we were home alone getting ready for school around 10:30, and then having a stranger at my doorstep. Also, not knowing what to do at that one moment of panic at time.
Growing up in the Chicago area was a great experience for me, I was always a good kid but I had always struggled in school. The reason that I had a hard time in school was that I had A.D.D which was the cause of my distraction. Entering Pritzker College Prep was a different experience for me because I was overwhelmed, the reason as to why I felt overwhelmed was because of the amount of homework we got. I ended up spending nights where I would do my homework and wouldn’t get a sufficient amount of sleep and would also cause me to fall asleep in class. My grades started to drop which caused me to stop caring in school, so I also decided to just stop doing my homework and it caused a decrease in my grades.
New York is a state where there are big lights and lots of people and busy streets. I live in Brooklyn, New York and I was born here and I have lived here all my life. Personally, where I live I can walk to go get groceries that I need and everything is in walking distance. I take the public subway or the bus to get to school and there are many public schools here in Brooklyn, New York. There are delis and corner stores almost around every block. Here in Brooklyn, it is very noisy and busy. I am so used to the noise that I can sleep soundly even with all the noise that surrounds my house. Personally, I think that if I were not born here or was not a New Yorker, I would plan to move here when I get older.
I have written many essays since I was in middle school yet most of my writing was not that important besides for a grade. Yet there is one piece of writing I wrote that change my life and felt that it had an important impact to The City of Chicago. My teacher during that time wanted the class to enter in a citywide competition, which is called “Do The Write Thing”. It is a way for students to voice their opinions on how to stop the violence in Chicago. I wanted to help reduce the violence in Chicago since many youths are being killed in the streets every single day. In my paper, I mainly focused on three body paragraphs. The first one was why the violence in the city was increasing. The second one was some type of violence that I have witness in my own personal life. The final paragraph
I didn't always live in California. Before California I lived in Denver, Colorado. Before Denver I lived in Aurora, Colorado. When we moved to california we had a family of five. We moved to California, when I was six, Then we lived at my grandma’s house in Riverside for a year. We found a place on Ferree Street and that became our home.
I witnessed my cousins boyfriend corpse lying on my neighbors lawn. It was a humid summer night around 3:30 when I peeked through my window and saw my devastated cousin sobbing uncontrollably on my decaying porch. Being from East chicago, Indiana has transformed me into the person I am today.
The city of Chicago has been displayed as a dangerous city in which all residents are affiliated with drugs, gangs, and misconduct of firearms. Whether someone fits into this stereotype or not, is normally based on their surroundings and their interactions with others. Growing up in Gage Park, named one of the worst neighborhoods, falling into this stereotype and becoming affiliated with drugs, guns, and gangs, would not be too hard for someone to do. However, I have lived in Gage Park my whole life and have not fallen into the status quo. I have had family members and friends fall into this realm of unpleasantness and watching them become another wrong kind of statistic is upsetting. I have been faced with the decision of continuing to have
You, a “Chicago kid” as a good friend keeps telling me, are going to have a big change in your life. That sounded like I was some cheesy fortune cookie but it is true. You have decided to go to the suburban area and go to that school full of white people. Oh and do you remember that lady who thought you came from another country when you went with your mom? Yep, that’s the high school you are going to. Anyway, check out this sacred wizardry that I have discovered to get good, or at least, decent grades in a middle school that took steroids.
Growing up in this city of Chicago was very nice. I lived on the Westside of Chicago, Hamlin and Augusta. Our community was not a community it was block. The block is the street that I lived one. My sisters and I was able to go to the park until the sunset. We would walk almost a mile just to have fun. We was able to walk everywhere, candy store, school, parties, and mall. All the houses on the blocks where kept up so nice. Every house had a flower bed. There were no boarded up houses. The grass was cut so well, and the brushes were trimmed nicely. You could smell the food that the neighbors were cooking. All the children on the block were able to play with each other. The neighbor would feed the other neighbors children. The trust for the people on Hamlin was very strong because everyone knew each other for years. The early 2000’s is a year that I will never forget. In 1973 my mom was born in Chicago. She lived in the same house that I lived in on Hamlin. As I was talking to my mother she was telling me that her life living in Chicago was lovely. Her dad
First, the city I live in is Decatur, Illinois. Decatur’s population is estimated around 74,000 people. It is one of the largest cities in Macon County. Founded in 1829, it is located along the Sangamon River in central Illinois. The motto of the town currently is, “We like it here”. The unofficial motto is “The Pride of the Prairie”. Decatur is home to agriculture giants such as Archer Daniels Midland, and Staley’s currently renamed Tate and Lyle. The geography of Decatur includes two mini subdivisions, Mt. Zion and Forsyth.
Family Dentistry-Walk-ins Welcome. That’s what I am. I’m a walk-in. A walking man with insurance, a fat checkbook and a toothache that needs to go away. It is a quick decision to pull into the parking lot. The sign on the door says they open at nine. The clock on the radio says I have nearly an hour to wait. That’s fine, maybe I can get in first before it backs up too much. Sitting in the car with my eyes closed and listening to the radio kills a good ten minutes. I open my eyes and look around. Two people are standing by the door of the office, marking their territory. So this is how it is going to be. Those in line get in first. I guess I should expect that since I don’t have an appointment. I hit the button and close the top, step out, lock the car, meekly walk up to the other
Dear Dr. Kimberly Nguyen and Family Dentistry associates; I am the niece of one of your patients, Lois Wolfe, who is 85 years old. Today she, and my family that was with her, had a concerning experience at your office that makes one question the professionalism of your office.
At first, I wanted to do something creative- something that no group has done before. I suggested that we do a Pokémon, but then my group said that would be pretty difficult to create. Therefore, we all thought about something else that would meaningful and not challenging at the same time, so Tim came up with the idea of creating a house. To be honest, I thought that was boring. I didn't want to say that, so instead, I suggested if we could do a candy house. My group thought that was a fun idea. Overall, deciding upon a design was not that hard. It probably took us a mod to decide on it and I'm glad that we did a candy house, because it was fun and different. For the mathematical content, we did not look over our work for the first formative
