If I were mayor of Sublette I would appoint a tough and reliable person as town fire chief and my assistant fire would be a trustworthy person that is liked throughout the community. I would also appoint a very organized person as my city secretary that I know that every demand will be taken care of and my city will not be in debt or have major problems. Likewise I would appoint a handy and helpful person as my city superintendent, the person who completes the maintenance needs around my town. The people that I assign to these roles will all be organized, some more than others, they will be kind to their peers in the community, as well as reliable and trustworthy.
On 1/16/17 at 0225 hours my partner, Officer Thebeau #8402, and I were working patrol assigned to unit 3A11. We responded to a radio call of “shots fired” in the area of 814 N. Garfield Ave. The comments of the call stated, a 19 year old female was shot in the hand.
The City of Bend, Oregon Government consists of approximately 500 employees across thirteen different divisions. These divisions are Police, Fire, Community Development, Public Works, etc and are all coordinated under the City Manager’s office. Bend’s government style is called a “weak mayor” form of city government, in that the citizens elect a city council, which then elects a mayor from among the council members. The city council and mayor, then hire a City Manager to run the day to day operations of the city. In doing this form of government, the City Manager is not directly accountable to the citizens and can focus on the needs of the city and its employees. At the same time, the City Council can only provide direction to the city manager and is accountable to the citizens. The city employees in this case are led by the city manager as directed by city council. The community leadership environment in this case is established by council to provide direction to the city manager.
The purpose of this paper is to comprehensively compare and contrast the implementation of two types of mayor-council government systems which are that of the weak-mayor type of the mayor council system and the strong-mayor type of the mayor council system. The premise of the analysis which has been conducted in this paper is based upon assessing the local governments of two cities within the United States – Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Minneapolis, Minnesota which follow the adoption of a strong-mayor system and weak-mayor system respectively.
Hello, I am Jeremy Wilczek, the new mayor of Little Egg Harbor New Jersey. I love our little town, and I believe it is almost perfect. There is something I would do to make our town better. To start, I think we should find out who the mayor is and how he affects our town. Usually a mayor will oversee police, firemen, education, housing, and transportation departments. There are four options for a city's government structure, and some cities use several. One power structure is the council-weak mayor. This type of structure gives the majority of the city power to the council, with the mayor acting as a leader of the council. The mayor is also responsible for signing proclamations and making ceremonial appearances.
I have found that by getting the community involved the chances of success are much greater and, so, there must be a course of action by which the constituents are persistently and actively involved with the process of ensuring a better quality of life for us all within District 17. Once the constituents become involved, it would be up to me as council members to enact, fund, oversee and make sure that these innovative solutions are integral to the district. I have also found that another key factor for success are arranging partnerships and having active and consistent relationships with community organizations, government entities, and businesses. I will focus on safeguarding affordable housing for District 17 residents by preventing displacement of our residents and the preserving the district 17 community through the budgetary arm and legislative body of the City Council. We also need to have quality education for our children, who at the present, are not getting their needs met as they are in schools that are mostly underfunded and under-resourced. I will spotlight ground-breaking programs and solutions to lessen this disparity. We need to create jobs within our district. My focus will be, among other things to initiate policies for servicing and training of the unemployed to a greater extent. Seniors are not getting their needs met; especially with regard to health. My focus here will be to make the health care policy makers aware of the disparities, make policy changes, preserve Medicare, and expand health insurance coverage. Finally, a safer community is what we need. I will center my attention on initiatives to reduce crime, implement a proper crime fighting budget, and rebuild a successful police/community
The local city government roles and their functions include that of Mayor who in this
On December third, I got ready to come to United State. My bags were in order and my passport with me. The time did not run that was not a piece of cake to me since I wanted to see my family. I went to the airport and I waited five hours on it. When I arrived to Washington D.C, I was enthusiastic. My family was waited me at the airport. When I saw my family, I ran to them and I hug them. It was amazing feelings. My family and I were happy because we finally were together. My father was registration me on VCU. Now I am studying English Language Program after that I will complete my degree to biomedical engineering. I have the best teachers in the world teach my English. This is the last semester in English that will be difficult for me since
Brevard is about two hours or so north of Miami-Dade. Most people recognize the city of Cocoa Beach or nearby Kennedy Space Center. As a matter of fact, I merely step out into my backyard and watch the rocket launches, if there are enough clouds (notice my inclusion of meteorology wink) for the shock waves to bounce off, pictures sometimes get rattled from the wall.
The city of Chicago has been displayed as a dangerous city in which all residents are affiliated with drugs, gangs, and misconduct of firearms. Whether someone fits into this stereotype or not, is normally based on their surroundings and their interactions with others. Growing up in Gage Park, named one of the worst neighborhoods, falling into this stereotype and becoming affiliated with drugs, guns, and gangs, would not be too hard for someone to do. However, I have lived in Gage Park my whole life and have not fallen into the status quo. I have had family members and friends fall into this realm of unpleasantness and watching them become another wrong kind of statistic is upsetting. I have been faced with the decision of continuing to have
Being from a town where there are no skyscrapers and a growing community, I had never experienced the real feeling of being in an actual crowded city. This city is like none I’ve ever been in, I had been in Miami, Atlanta, and Charlotte but those cities were nothing like the city I was about to visit. In October of 2016 my older brother ran into a medical problem causing us to have to visit a doctor that was located hundreds of miles away. From then on we had to travel to Teaneck, NJ, but minutes away from that town was the largest city in the United States which was New York City. I had seen movies, television shows, and news about New York, but I really did not believe there could be a place so full of life, so I was finally getting the chance
I have written many essays since I was in middle school yet most of my writing was not that important besides for a grade. Yet there is one piece of writing I wrote that change my life and felt that it had an important impact to The City of Chicago. My teacher during that time wanted the class to enter in a citywide competition, which is called “Do The Write Thing”. It is a way for students to voice their opinions on how to stop the violence in Chicago. I wanted to help reduce the violence in Chicago since many youths are being killed in the streets every single day. In my paper, I mainly focused on three body paragraphs. The first one was why the violence in the city was increasing. The second one was some type of violence that I have witness in my own personal life. The final paragraph
I keep running from one to another. The rooms are big with white walls and ceilings. Here and there bright colors decorate the walls. Small groups of people converse over their opinions. Children reach out to touch and their mothers pull them in, smacking their hands and telling them no. I stop and spin around, trying to absorb everything around me. Then I stop and stare.
All I could fit in my only small bag was a few clothes and a toothbrush and all my parents
If I was elected mayor I would do a lot of helpful things. For example, I would help out in schools. Like I would make the bathrooms more cleaner , more nice so people can actually use them, and then make them smell good. Then I would make the classroom twice as bigger than they actually are. So the teachers can make the students do actives with what they are learning with enough space, and it may help the students understand what they are learning better with the actives as well. And the science teachers can do more science experiences with the students without running out of room. So it can more fun for children to learn science and they can actually experience it as well. Then I would try my best
If I were Mayor, I would build a bigger shelter for homeless people and make it to where they weren't limited and could stay as long as they needed. Also, building bigger and better schools might help bring in more people into the community. Another thing is, I would update the whole town and try to bu community. During the winter, when it snows, making clear roads the towns first priority might help schools have less snow days and help businesses not have to shut down for a day. Also, bringing Country
