Once upon a time, there lived a mysterious 17-year-old boy named Jacob at the end of the street. I had passed his house once or twice. His windows were covered with antique stained glass. I would observe him through the windows as I would saunter by but there would never be a change in what I would see.Whenever I would walk past his house we would catch each other looking and he would have the same tough resting face each and every time. He was one of those handsome and charming boys, as though it seems like his wrongdoings had bungled him, making him segregated from his family. This resulted in Jacob being disowned by his family as to why he lived alone at a young age. Jacob was not bothered by this so he continued with the lifestyle of his …show more content…
I rang his doorbell and he answered. I needed answers. He broke down as he put his face into my chest. He explained how his family had disowned him because he got involved with the wrong crowd in high school. He became involved in the drug industry and caused his family to go through many obstacles. His parents’ house had been shot up twice. This is when they realized that it was time for Jacob to leave for the safety of the rest of his 3 siblings. Eventually, I had realized Jacob was extremely caring. He wanted me to stay out of his business since it was the best for me. It meant that he would have a loved one safe and away from the gang …show more content…
I come to a realization that I have been kidnapped and then I see the bald tall man with an iPhone recording a video. He wants me to say something so I do what he says ‘’Jacob, you need to leave now! They will kill either of us please do what they say. Please, Jacob. You have three days.’’ I cry nervously to the camera of the phone. The bald man lets me in on what was going on after hours of me begging and crying for answers. It was the Eagles that wanted Jacob to switch grounds so they could expand their side of selling. This meant Jacob would have to make new connections in a different town, leaving him back to where he once began. I am stunned as I listen to him. This was completely cruel. It’s day three and Jacob hasn’t left yet. What is he thinking? After everything, we have been through why is he leaving me alone to die? I love him but clearly, that is not the case with him. Shortly after, there was heavy banging on the warehouse door. It was Jacob. ‘’No, No! Jacob, you need to leave. Go Jacob go!’’ I yell. ‘’I am not leaving. I will stay here because this is my home and I will not leave my girl behind alone ‘’ Jacob
“Peculiardom is dying, Jacob It’s a lost dream. And even if somehow, by some miracle, we were to take up arms against the corrupted and prevail, we’d be left with a shadow of what we once had; a shattered mess. You have a home-one
The second time Jacob visits the children’s home, he encounters a group of small children that he recognizes from the pictures his grandfather used to show him. One child asks if he is Abraham, but when they see his face, they are disappointed that he is not, and run away. Jacob runs after them and follows them into a tunnel, but gives up and decides to go home. As he walks through the town
Learning that his mom was having an affair with someone else hit him in the heart hard. He wanted to believe that it wasn’t his mother, that it was someone else, but he couldn’t. He found out when he was gathering flowers for his mother, and then he heard something. He went around to see his mother with another person other than his dad. When they parted from each other they kissed, and Jacob was shocked from this. He was hiding behind a bush when he saw this,“Through the leaves, Jacob caught a glimpse of the man’s face. They didn’t speak, only kissed, and parted”(191). One can assume that he's frustrated at his mom, and probably doesn’t want to talk with her for the day.
He had made plenty of friends such as: Braeden Schoenherr, Emma Hannasch, and Katelyn Daily. Those were also the people he grew up with. That’s one of the many perks of growing up in a small town, you knew everyone. The people he went to Preschool with were the people he ended up graduating high school with. He was a good student, always brought home good grades, and he held a job while in high school. He started out at Fareway for about a year, but then decided to move jobs to the local Pizza Hut in Carroll. He was astounding at his job there. In less than a year he went from being a server there, to becoming a manager. As he went through high school, he progressively did great things. He graduated in the top five of his class, and got a scholarship to DMACC for the two years that he was going to attend college. He went to DMACC for business management and graduated at the top of his class. At the age of 25 he got married in the fall of 2025. Three years later on Christmas Eve, he was blessed with his first son, Leroy. Jacob was such a kind and great father. He always wanted the best for his son, even if it did make him upset with him. He made sure his son knew that he was loved, but not
Defending Jacob is a courtroom drama that also examines the family dynamic and how it can shift or crack under pressure. It’s ending stirred up a lot of mixed feelings. The trial concludes with a suicide note written by Patz confessing to the murder of Ben Rifkin, causing Jacob to be acquitted. After the trial, the Barbers decide to go on vacation, so that they can get the feeling back of being a “normal” family. They are having an ideal vacation, until Hope, Jacob’s “girlfriend” that he met on the holiday, goes missing. Her body washes up on the beach several weeks after her disappearance, and while many believe that there were signs that pointed to her windpipe being crushed, her death is ultimately ruled an accident because of the body deterioration in the water.
He realizes that helping his friends will make him a better person. He risks his own life to save his family, Jacob and Oteka run from a lion so the lion can follow Jacob and leave Hannah, Paul, and Norman alone, Oteka yells at Jacob, “RUN!” Oteka said ( McKay 175). During this series of events it can be deemed that Jacob is an unreliable narrator through the unrealistic events, and because Jacob can be declared delusional. Jacob can be declared delusion, because he is currently ninety years old, experiencing memory loss, and taking medicine. For instance, a week earlier Jacob’s family came to visit and he did not know who they were, “I didn’t know them. I faked it, though- when they made their way toward me and I realized it was me they had come to see, I smiled” (Gruen 218). Sara Gruen implies that the reader should be questioning what Jacob is saying when he claims that he is walking out of the nursing home because even Jacob says, “Nobody seems to think it odd that an old man is standing in his slippers
Jacob tiptoes into his mother's bedroom and slides the shoebox under her bed then sneaks back to the doorway.
Growing up listening to his grandpa's crazy stories from the past, Jacob believes that he is someone to be inspired by, but he also questions his validity. Many rumors are made about his grandfather's loyalty toward his family, and Jacob wants everything in the world for them not to be true. "If Grandpa Portman wasn't honorable and good, I wasn't sure anyone could be" (Riggs 92). This is an example of characterization, describing Jacob's extreme loyalty and affection towards his grandfather; he continuously sticks up for him, without knowing the true story behind all of his suspicious actions. Jacob goes to drastic measures in order to clear his grandfather's name; this is just one example. The respect he has toward him prompts Jacob to make the spontaneous decision to investigate the unknown, mysterious island for any clues he might find. When accusations had been made about his grandfather's faithfulness towards his wife, Jacob immediately considers that there must be another explanation, which he is determined to find along his journey. Jacob soon uncovers that the stories he had been told all his life about these strange children with "superpower-like" characteristics are actually real. The pictures his grandpa had shown him were, in fact, not photoshopped or edited, but were completely real and he witnesses it. After uncovering the pictures he finds inside the house, he makes this statement to his father: "'I'm serious. Don't you think this could mean that maybe he wasn't cheating on Grandma, after all?'" (Riggs 101). This is a rising conflict at the beginning of the novel. When he finally comes closer to proving his point, he makes every effort to go out of his way to defend his grandfather to his dad, who did not believe he had the greatest of intentions. The

Father Jacob worked at a dark, empty and creaky church named saint maries church that was frigid and chilled you to the bones just when you stand in it. When you touched the walls it felt like you were touching an iceberg in antarctica when it's winter. It was around twelve o'clock at night when Father Ronny the preacher that was filling in for Father Jacob walked in the main chapel and found Jacob dead in the aisle between the old and decaying wooden seats. Ronny quickly grabbed the old dial phone that was on a table that was barely standing. He dialed 911 with haste then told the operator
