I was born in the Caribbean not until I was nine years old that I move to the USA. Growing up in the US was not easy for me, because having to learn English was so hard that at time make me regret my mom did that to e but i found a way to make it easy for me when I surrounded myself with friend that did not speak my language for me learn it faster way to learn because for me to communicate back to them i have to try my best,I felt left out being unable to understand what the teacher was saying I and the fun the kids was having was not the type of game I’m used to was hard but I learned faster that way because I motivate myself to be able to learn fast enough to be able to participate with my class in their activities. As my high school years were coming to an end, all anyone could talk about was college. Where they were going, what state they would be a resident in, and what they would major in, what campus they would be visiting that weekend. I, however, thought I had it all under control. I thought that when my Senior year came by it would all fall in to place. That's crazy, right? The shows that I grew up watching did not have to deal with this. That is when expectation went out the window and reality kicked me in the butt. I had five months left to start applying to colleges and looking in to different campuses that offered my dental hygiene program. Lucky for me, my community college had a two year program.
I find myself reading this short paragraph over and over(above). My topic sentence makes me happy and proud. Going back to school was the best thing I have done. I chose to talk about going back to school to the “future employer” because it shows I am motivated as well as dedicated. This class has brought a lot to my attention. The mannerism that is expected in the “business world” is to speak and write well. It is extremely important to know how to write (type) a meaning full and proper paper whether it is for school or work. I have noticed a great impact in my vocabulary and writing skills. My boss told me on Monday he is impressed with the new docs I typed up for our new clients (with no help from him). I was not excited about this class
In this class, I have learned many new skills to improve my writing, and I have also learned new grammar rules. In regards to my writing, I have learned the importance of freewriting when beginning to write a paper. Additionally, I now know to allow ample time for revising and editing because I can look at my work critically for mistakes and make necessary changes. Furthermore, I have learned about grammar rules such as pronoun-antecedent agreement. This rule is something that I know subconsciously, but being made aware of it has allowed me to find mistakes I make more often.

As technology evolves, the traditional style writing classrooms should do so as well. Students are used to the typical routine, in which an instructor lecture and hands out assignments. However, is that really the most effective way of teaching for all students? Teachers neglect the fact that not all students learn the same way. In learning this, I propose some changes that could be made in order to increase learning effectively such as; the choice of physical work verses online work, communications and feedback to students, and essays.
I was sitting at my desk my in the second grade class. It was a regular day just like any other day. With the regular teacher, the regular lessons, the regular student, and the regular words the students said. They would never talk about what the teacher wanted us to talk about but what second grader does? They would talk about movies they watched recently and music they were into that day. But what happened when they learned that I watched a different movie? What happened when I didn't like the music they did? What happened when I had my own ideas and didn't blindly follow whatever they thought was cool like a trained puppy? I was stupid. I was dumb. I couldn't function like a normal person. Tuesday, September 12, 2017, I eagerly interviewed a fellow co-worker, Patricia Britt, a kindergarten assistant teacher at my school, New Hope Elementary. She has been a paraprofessional for almost twenty years. When asked to define the term 'paraprofessional', Britt replied, "An underpaid teacher who does just as much, if not more, in the classroom as the certified teacher but doesn't get recognized for it." In a sense, Britt is undoubtedly correct. Most of the time, assistant teachers are considered not as important or not as valuable as certified teachers. Assistant teachers can perform the same duties as certified teachers, but do not get compensated for it nor recognized for all the hard work put into the task.
Imagine falling of a chair. Not that bad right? Now, imagine falling of a chair in front of the whole cafeteria. Funny? Yes. Painful? Definitely. So embarrassing that you hid in your teacher’s classroom for the remaining time of the school day? Sounds like me! After many years of mental preparation, physiological therapy, and complete avoidance of using chairs in front of others, I was finally able to overcome my tragedy. Like every other day, I ardently waited for lunch time to arrive. As soon as the bell rang, I ran to the cafeteria. I sat, I ate, and just when I was about to throw my food away…
I have been attending the Key for three years now, and these past three years have been the highlight of my life. In addition, if I didn’t attend this school, my whole life would have unraveled in a negative way. The Key School is a sanctuary for dyslexics; the faculty here teach strategies so you can comprehend practically anything. The Key is a great place for making new friends and discovering unseen talents. My first year attending the Key was in fifth grade; it was extremely difficult to adjust to the Key School environment. My second year in sixth grade was a great year for transitioning to middle school with its complex environment. Finally, this year, seventh grade, is without doubt the best year of them all. In conclusion, the Key School is an amazing place to learn new material, and the Key is the determinator how successful I’m in life.
The class I am tutoring is a 3rd grade classroom at Palmers Elementary. Mrs Keri Shivle is the teacher of the classroom. I tutor Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30pm. The times i'm in the classroom the students are always reading or doing an language art activity. The times i have been in the classroom i been working with three students. One is Jakiey and Lavonta and sometimes i work with Angeli. I do different things with them such as helping them with homework or reading to them and then having them read it back to me. We also play games such as vocabulary ones, phonics.
My guided lesson 3 went really well this week. This week the lesson had been implemented exactly the way it had been planned. The lesson began with students looking at the title page and making predictions about the book. Everyone had interesting points to share about the predictions they made. I could tell the students were really excited to read this book as it was very colorful and it got their attention. Before we started reading, I asked the students to look for main events that took place in the book as it will help them retell the story at the end. All the students were able to retell the story to me at the end. What went well the most was the fact that my students brought the main events to my attention on their own before retelling
As a teacher, I’ve had the opportunity to work and interact with many professionals and families from different cultures. Personally, and considering the fact that I also come from another country, I’ve seen myself facing several cross cultural barriers.
Starting in fifth grade when I first picked up a viola, orchestra has been a fundamental part of my identity in school. My first year in high school I was in the entry level orchestra, which I greatly enjoyed despite the easier music because of the community of people in the class. At the end of my freshman year, orchestra got the news that the number of orchestra classes would be cut down to two, making an entry level class, symphonic, and an audition only higher level class, chamber. Wanting a challenge, I auditioned for chamber, but I did not get in. At the beginning of 2016, I didn't think I’d be coming out so soon. My AP Language Arts teacher assigned a performance piece that quickly crept up on me. We were told to stand in front of the class and share a piece of our identity; it was nothing like any other assignment I had done before.
Growing up, I’ve been told the same line over and over again, “Make sure whatever you grow up to be, you will love.” With this advice, I began my life journey of finding out what I wanted to be. This advice haunted my life for multiple year as I struggle to find what my life would become. This constant struggle had myself worrying that I wouldn’t find anything I would love. Eventually, my final decision was made. This is to become a special Elementary Elementary Teacher. Entering the field of education, not only seems what's right, it also seems like I could change the generation of children.
