1. What experience do you like talking about the most? What has been the most interesting, intriguing, and exciting part of your life- why, and what did you learn from it?
The most interesting experience for me was being involved in clubs and SLCs (small learning communities). I had a great opportunity in high school to chose Communication Technology SLC. I always enjoyed making videos, graphic art, etc. The SLC program really helped me explore different majors opportunities. For my SLC pathway courses, I took various video production, graphic art, and journalism courses which helped me improved my skills. Also, I received a Career Technical Education certificate for completing all the required for CT SLC.

Also, when I started the college, I had to experience health issues which really affected my education. It was the difficult moment for me to decide whether to stay in the college to continue my education or drop out of the college. I knew it is going to be difficult for me to continue my education because I could participate in my classes like my other classmates, and my family and friends suggested me to wait until I get better, but I decided to continue my education. Even though I had to experience failure in my first semester of the college, it was still a great experience for me to explore new opportunities and get a higher education.
4. Where or how do you seem to waste the most time?
I believe that I waste most of my time on the social media. The social media make me less interactive, it always causes to weaken my communication skills. I believe that there are more learning opportunities available for the students, but we waste our time so much on the social media that we cannot realize that we are missing the fun and more productive activities which are available in our community. Even though the social media is addictive and It is difficult to quit the social media because we depend on it so much, I also try not to use it during my school
One of the proudest accomplishments of my life was receiving my bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida. As I approached the stage, I put one foot in front of the other and tried my hardest not to stumble. The crowd roared loudly, I could see Knightro dancing in the corner, it was my turn. In the three seconds that I walked across the stage, I felt a plethora of emotion but most of all… I felt fear because on the other side of the platform was the rest of my life. Unfortunately, my “life after graduation” plan was short-lived, as I found it very difficult to find employment within the first three months of graduating.
Since the start of the semster I have learned many different things about myself and how I can become a better student all around. Summer classes can fly by fast and doesn’t feel like a real semester. That it is just to get credit and move on to the next semester. That was not the case for me this summer semester because I needed to think about the rest of my college career. This summer semester is my first one coming back from academic suspension and I took last semester at South Plains College and Tarrant County College. I did really well making a 3.00 GPA overall and am most likely going to make a 3.5 this semester. This will be a huge boost to my overall GPA. The point is am at the point where I am ready to graduate and will try my hardest to get the best grades I can. I really just changed my mindset towards college and the way I prepare for tests and studying.
they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please
My community college experience has been rigorous but highly rewarding. As an international student, it was like stepping from a hill to a mountain looking out at the horizon. The sheer breadth and depth of the world are mesmerizing. I have entered into a leadership role like Phi Theta Kappa and Student Government Association (SGA), that has helped me grow as a person.
It happened all through-out college. I had always heard stories about body-shaming with overweight individuals, but I never thought that it would happen to myself or the millions of other young women on college campuses.
Upon arriving to school one morning, I noticed two students engaged in a heated argument and heard one yell at the other to tell his "alien friends and family" to stop occupying the spaces in the school’s parking garage.
This community college is where I began my educational expedition. It provided the fundamentals and course work I needed to grasp the concept of education. The school program much more than on campus and off campus enrichments, they offered my first online courses that open my mind to new possibilities to learn. The elated and engaged program brought to light a magnificent way of learning. It was astonishing to be able to take classes at home in addition to school. Furthermore, the completion of the program successfully aided as I continued to a university with the skills and knowledge to be successful through hard work and determination.
Before joining GCU University, I studied at Suffolk Community College. Then I enrolled in Saint Joseph College where I only studied on weekends throughout the day. I liked the experience at Suffolk Community College because it was the place where I took my first English classes, and I learned the language. I took the academic courses towards to obtain an Associate degree. I did not like the experience at Saint Joseph. The instructors sent tasks and research to be done on week days. It was impossible for me to meet my classmates in the business hours because we all worked. My perception was the program had not been designed for an adult-oriented class because it functioned as a regular class. My favorite teacher was who taught me English Grammar
I am from a small town called Boring, Oregon. However, I have lived in five states since then. My most recent home is Arlington, Virginia. I am an Elementary Education Major. I was homeschooled until college and studied at NOVA community college for one year prior to starting at Concordia. Along with SCI 110, I am taking Art 121, EDU 199, LDR 198, MTH 133 and REL 221. Five years after college I would like to be finished with my master's degree and working full time as a 1st or 2nd-grade teacher. What makes me special is that I have moved every two years since I turned eight, that I have four older brothers, that I have been to 48 of the 50 US States. The people I grew up with and the sites I have seen
Science can be complicated, but it is one of the subjects that explains what goes on in our world. Throughout high school, science courses were always my favorite. I decided that my major of choice for college would be biology: the study of living organisms. Grogan College’s curricular focus “is the development of the professional self in the areas of health, medicine, nursing, education, criminal law, business, and the performing arts”. Looking at that statement made me realize that this residential college is my best fit. The words that captured my attention are health, medicine, and performing arts. As a color guard performer and biology major, it is important that I continue performing as an outlet, as well as increase my research skills.
Legacy has provided a wonderful foundation for me as a first time college student. To start, Legacy has created a cohort in its own to provide support for me and many other first time and returning college students. Before entering into college I did not have a lot of different responsibilities to take care of. My main focus was to go to high school, got to work, and go home. Starting college and especially the Legacy program has taught me more responsibility. I have been taught how to manage my time. Although, it is still a work in progress, I still have learned how to go to work, go to school, study, and take care of my responsibilities at home as well. Taking English 60/100/117 and Ethnic Studies 129 has help me everywhere from studying
The advice that changed my life was from my boss. I had been out of high school a couple of years, and, at the time, was working full time at a store in the mall. College had always been on the horizon for me, just barely out of reach. However, when I start to think back, I see what little effort I put in to try to reach college. Every time someone asked if I planned on going, I would say yes, I just needed to save up the money, brush up on a few subjects, and get my life in order. In truth though, I was just scared of going back to school. I had not done well in high school and had in fact dropped out. So, even if I had wanted to go to school I would need to take the GED test, and that was something I was not prepared to do. So month after
I have been accepted into Baruch College School of Public Affairs Master of Science in Higher Education Administration (MSEd-HEA) program. After my acceptance I was looking for opportunities to gain more experiences in Higher Education Administration. My goal was to find a summer internship that allow me to work with a had a diverse student population in Higher Education. Luckily, I was able to receive a summer internship with Chris Aviles a Student Services Specialist that coordinates and recruits scholarship for undocumented students at Hunter College. Along with the coordination and recruitment of scholarships Aviles organizes programs that provides academic and social/emotional support that many undocumented students need throughout college.
A family sitting around a dinner table, refugees being placed into healthy environments, a house full of family and friends, these are all images I conjure up when pondering my future. I wish to begin my journey to obtaining this fantasy by pursuing college. College represents an extremely important piece to my future and to get there, I must work extra hard. I see myself attending a University to attain a masters degree in global studies. To be able to get to that point I must reach out and ask for help, the reason for applying for scholarships. After college I would like to locate a job somewhere in the south, such as Tennessee. Once I've had a few years of settling into my career, I enjoy the idea of starting a family. Yes, this does involve
My college goals include transferring from Merced College to Stanislaus State University. I began the application process in November. I will complete my requirements here at Merced College this semester for my Associates Degree Transfer. I'm majoring in Psychology and hope to receive my Bachelors in Arts at Stanislaus State. My career goals include attaining an instructional aide position as soon as I receive my AA from Merced College. I haven't had any luck applying for that position however, I'm hopeful my luck will change. I have attended approximately eight to ten instructional aide position interviews and volunteer at a local Elementary School in Chowchilla. I believe the more education I receive, the better a candidate I will become
