Hi Dr. Johnson,
I currently attend Stuyvesant High School in New York City. My overall average for high school, up to last semester, is about a 94.5. My SAT score was a 730 in Math, 610 in reading, and 570 in writing (total of 1910). My ACT composite score is a 31. My computer science average is about a 97.
In high school, I have taken one semester of Algebra, one year of Geometry, one year of Algebra II/Trigonometry, one year of AP Statistics and one year of Precalculus. Right now, I am taking AP Calculus BC. In the past, I have taken one year of introductory courses of computer science, AP computer science, one semester of Software Development, and one semester of System Level Programming. I am currently taking my second semester of Software
As a member of the honor roll during the entirety of my high school career, I have strived to achieve the best possible scores every marking period. Every day, I come to school with a positive attitude, and am always poised to learn something new. Over the last four years, I have taken all of the technology courses my school has to offer. I have a heavy “Engineering by Design” background, and also have become skilled with CAD software, programming, and scripting. As a result of my passion for engineering, I have won the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology. Additionally, I am also very interested in Mathematics and Science, with AP Calculus and Physics being examples of courses I have taken to reflect
During my first year of college, I completed most of the required general courses, with the exception of two science classes and a literature class. I took courses
I would like to take the time to explain my spring 2014 GPA of my freshman year to the Admissions Committee. I do not intend to make excuses, but I do wish to provide context in the hopes of showing that this aspect of my transcript is a mere aberration, and is not indicative of my ability or discipline. This GPA resulted from neither the aggressive down-curving policy of NYU Stern nor any of the “usual” hardships experienced when one attends a competitive school; rather, a perfect storm of four distinct issues led to my obtaining an un-characteristically low GPA of 2.8 that semester: seasonal depressive disorder, intense heartbreak after the unexpected demise of my first long-term relationship, a family financial emergency, and an exceptionally
Major: Psychology and Philosophy with a concentration in Religious Studies Minor: Leadership Studies GPA: 3.75
This number was surprisingly high to me at first as well. But, after some more in-depth research, I found that the average SAT score was 1460/1600 or 32/36 on the ACT. On top of this, the average accepted high school GPA was a 4.20. Clearly, I would need to study extremely hard to have a potential chance at it but, it is definitely
“Crunch, Crunch,” I heard as I walked towards the shiny blue portal. It was dark, hazy, and cold. I heard “grr” behind me get louder and louder. I turned around, I lifted my arms, and pulled the trigger. I couldn’t tell what shooked more, my arms from being scared, or the vibration of the gun. I thought the zombie died and it was all over, until I turned around and three more zombies appeared. I pulled the trigger as fast as a jackhammer but it was no use. Game over.
I'm currently a junior at Central High School with a 3.99 GPA. I am a very organized, creative, patient, and committed person. I have a very high tolerance level. I will withstand anything that comes in my way. I have the ability to multitask
In 7th grade, I took Algebra 1 for math class. In 8th grade, I took Geometry for math class and Introduction to Engineering and Design for technology class. Currently in 9th grade, I am taking Algebra 2 for math class, Digital Electronics for technology class and Biology for the science class.
There is not many times where I give up on myself, but there was one time and it messed up my high school GPA. It was my sophomore year in biology class, where I finally gave up on myself. I absolutely hated biology, and I did not understand it at all. It was such a hard class for me I thought I was going to fail it as soon as I started the class. I would study all the time for the tests and still do horrible on the tests. I would do decent on the stuff we did in class, but that is because it was usually with a partner and they would do everything. It was about half way through the quarter and we just got a test back and like usual it was a D. At that moment, I gave up on myself and decided to do something different. I had a D in the class
My current GPA is 3.71. I chose history as one of my undergraduate majors because I always enjoyed learning about the past and wanted to further my understanding of the connections between past people, places, events, ideas, and technologies. For me, the study of history is fascinating and finding new nuggets of information buried in old stories is always a treat.
Junior year was the year I had been awaiting. It was the year I would finally be in AP Computer Science after almost three years of waiting. Whether it was counselors or teachers, they all informed me that computer science would not be offered sophomore year of my high school because they did not have enough students. Junior year… it was also the year they were attempting to modify the daily schedule, and change it into a block setting. I was curious to see how well it would work especially after changing from eight periods a day to only four. I walked in, got my schedule for the year and my eyes ferociously scanned the page left, right, up, down, and center to try and find the glorious line that said “AP Computer Science.” It was safe to say that I was frustrated yet content. I
I am currently enrolled as a Junior in the Dulles High School Math and Science Academy and take all the high-level math and science courses that I am able to enroll in.
I knew, I would do all right in speech and writing courses. Math was never my strong point. However, I found out that I would have to take a remedial math course before enrolling in the math course for computer science. I also discovered that since I had not taken physics in high school. I would have to complete a college physics course before beginning the science courses. Most working students also find out as I did that they have very little time for homework, they have to reduce their courses loads.
In high school I plan to take all honors in core classes, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Principles of Business and Finance. Also, I will be taking communication classes and higher level english classes whenever possible in high school to work on my speaking and reading comprehension for my future
One dark and enchanted night in the year 2017 me and my friends were going through the woods. We were trying to find something good to kill something that we could bring back to make Jimmy's dad proud. I would have never thought this night would end up in the worst fight that god couldn't have won it all started with just one word.
