I felt uninspired at my high school. The routine I created for myself was mundane. The highlights of my day as a sophomore included being first in line to lunch, and that I knew I could go through the motions of school "just fine." I always felt like I had nothing to prove because nothing academically I did felt like had any significance to me. In the state of Washington, high school Juniors and Seniors are allowed to enroll at their local community colleges with their tuition paid for. Curious, I decided to enroll at Pierce College for my final 2 years of "high school." The decision to attend Pierce College has inspired me to expand my worldview and has empowered me to take charge of my intellectual development. I took classes that have enlightened
My decision to attend Trinity Valley Community College was influenced by two primary objectives. One was to conserve funds, as this is one of the most useful features of community colleges. The second objective was to maintain a 4.0 GPA. This is where I failed.
In the 2013 fall semester, I entered Bronx Community College to pursue Dietetics and Nutrition Science, and by grace, I successfully graduate with an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree. Base on my dream, I already took all the nursing prerequisites courses. The prerequisites courses that I took are Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, English Composition I and II, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Probability and Statistics, Human Development, General Chemistry I and II, Microbiology and Infant Control, History and many more.
I started my college education at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, then to GCU. My passion to help others was evident in the classroom resulting in my professors recommending that I became a tutor at the college’s learning center. I worked there for three semesters tutoring math and science. In addition, I volunteered at Chandler Regional Medical Center where I accumulated over 300 service hours working in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). After earning my bachelor’s degree, I was offer a position to work in the CV-ICU at Banner-University Medical Center. I am also an RN supervisor at Southwest Behavioral
Throughout High School I thought I was proficient in reading and writing in my English classes, from freshman year to senior year English classes were easy and felt I could transition my confidence to community college after graduation until I took the English assessment exam and failed in the spring of 2012. Failing my entrance exam was devastating and I refused to accept my results, I waited two academic year before I can appeal to retest my English entrance exam and after weeks of waiting I was approved to retest. After I retest the results were the same, I was placed in remedial English not only was I devastated again but I personally felt worthless. I did not know what was wrong with my reading and writing but I had no choice to enroll
The reason I’m interested in attending Hood College is because I’ve met many successful individuals who have graduated from here. My mother graduated from Hood in 1990 and she praises this school saying how she received a wonderful education from here. I know she’d be very happy if I got to experience all the greatness that Hood has to offer. Throughout my work experience, I was able to work for a woman that graduated from Hood. Her name is Monica Kolbay and she started her own marketing company called Arachnid Works located in Frederick. While I just clean the office, I see how successful her company is. She is very pleased with the education she received from Hood and contributes it to her success. She’s actually the reason I decided to major
Upon arriving to school one morning, I noticed two students engaged in a heated argument and heard one yell at the other to tell his "alien friends and family" to stop occupying the spaces in the school’s parking garage.
All decisions come with consequences, whether they are good, or bad. I believe that G-d has everything to do with the decisions I, and, others make in this world. If I get into some sort of trouble, G-d wanted me in that trouble, to teach me a lesson for the future. If I do something positive, someone then later phrases you, by doing something good to you. Deciding where I would go to college was a crucial decision I had to make. I had to make sure it was convenient and, where I wanted to go. Before choosing to go to Bucks County Community College I was accepted to a few other colleges, one of which was even out of state. I chose to come to Bucks County Community College, when I realized I didn’t want to leave home or go to a different University
I have had a great experience while attending Wallace Community College. I chose to come to Wallace because I got a full scholarship to attend and it was closer to home. One experience that I have had here is the teachers and faculty. All the teachers that I have had the pleasure of being in their classrooms have been nothing but exceptional. All of them have taught me valuable information that I will be able to use not only in progressing in my academic career but also in life. Every teacher always goes above and beyond to make their students feel welcomed and that you have a reason for being here. Secondly, another experience that I have had is the variety of classes you are able to take while attending Wallace. Even though it is a community
The decision to go to Converse College was protracted. It took over a year to decide that this would be my home for four or more years. I chose Converse for a number of reasons; the music department, the music professors, the tuition, and the campus.
Coming from a relatively small high school, I wanted to go to a moderately sized college that retained an atmosphere of school pride. At Washington College, I’ll be in a supportive environment where I can take advantage of various opportunities to gain experience and become actively involved.
I have spent a great deal of time on the campus of Boston College, as my wife recently graduated in 2014. I would visit her often and was always amazed by the beautiful architecthure I had never seen such a georgeous campus. There was also all the faculty members and staff who always seemed pleasant and truly happy to be at Boston College. My wife would come home and explain how great her classes were and how her Professors were committed to teaching the class. I was lucky enough to sit in on a few classes and noticed the smaller sizes and how beneficial it was to have a closer bond between the student and Professor. The classes also seemed to produce better content and really engage the students in debate and heavy conversation.
I am drawn to Boston University because of all it has to offer. For one thing, Boston University has rigorous academics that would challenge me, allow me to expand my knowledge and push me to do my best, which is what I strive for. I’m prepared to put in the work, time, and effort required to be successful. Besides the impressive academics, the diversity of neighborhoods with all the history and culture intrigue me. While on the tour, I could tell that Boston University had an eclectic student body that matched the diverse people that inhabit Boston.
At the end of my junior year, I decided I wanted to attend a college close to home and I was not even considering going to a school in the Northeast. This changed, however, when I took a trip to Boston this past summer. Boston was, without a doubt, the best city I have ever visited. I loved the beautiful natural scenery, the amazing restaurants, and the rich history of the town. Overwhelmed by the plethora of universities in the area, I had no idea which college I liked the most, only knowing that I wanted to live in Boston. I expected I would need to conduct many hours of research to decide, but thankfully, Boston College immediately stuck out to me and piqued my interests. I am a strong Christian who wants to grow in my faith during college,
This past year has been the most crucial year for me. I did not know what path I wanted to take. I did know whatever path I choose would reflect on my family and me. So, I prayed about the situation and God gave me my answer. If it was not for God placing Coach Summers in my life, I would probably be unhappy and wasting my time doing unnecessary activities.
I had only two days in Thailand, so I tried to visit as many agencies and potential students as time allowed. Brutus and I were operational for 10 to 12 hours per day promoting Bellevue College to the people of Thailand. Based on a review of our records, we have less than 10 Thai students. I believe Thai students are under represented on the BC campus. This was confirmed after speaking with several agencies, most of whom had not heard or didn’t know too much about Bellevue College. They knew BC was located in Washington, but they did not know we had such superb programs. It look as if we haven’t had a very proactive outreach program with agencies or students in Thailand.
