I have had a great experience while attending Wallace Community College. I chose to come to Wallace because I got a full scholarship to attend and it was closer to home. One experience that I have had here is the teachers and faculty. All the teachers that I have had the pleasure of being in their classrooms have been nothing but exceptional. All of them have taught me valuable information that I will be able to use not only in progressing in my academic career but also in life. Every teacher always goes above and beyond to make their students feel welcomed and that you have a reason for being here. Secondly, another experience that I have had is the variety of classes you are able to take while attending Wallace. Even though it is a community
In light of being denied the Federal Pell Grant from applying for the FAFSA, I will now rely upon grants from scholarships I have been applying for. Along with my own money from future jobs and my family's contributions to my education. For the past year and still continuing, I have received money from my family in order to save up for college. Money that I received during daily responsibilities around the house. No matter the quantity, due to the fact that I am unemployed. For the reason that I have been entirely focusing on my high school education since I am still in High School and in the ACE Program. Nevertheless, I plan to obtain a job in the near future to aid my education in Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Whether that job is in
When my physics professor told me that, I was rather upset than happy. I am here to learn, not to only know couple of equations for the test. College classes are designed to challenge students, not to give easy A’s. My time with Harford Community College was great but not challenging enough. I desire more hands-on experience and research projects, which my community college both lack of. This is when I realize that I need to transfer to somewhere that would give me a lot of opportunities to shine.
Through my experiences and achievements at California Baptist University, I can gain an academic advantage over my peers attending other schools. The amount of programs and majors offered at CBU will help me develop as an educated and experienced woman with a strong educational background at CBU. With the help of CBU, I can grow into my full potential and maintain a great headstart in entering the real world with a strong mentality of maturity. I have always maintained upstanding grades and high GPA in high school, and my attendance at CBU will merely continue my pattern of success.
As a faculty member, I have experience teaching to diverse audiences. During my time at Youngstown State University, I worked within a student population that had a significant minority and low-income population. I provide opportunities for all students within my courses. In my class, I foster an environment where students are respectful yet feel safe to offer diverse opinions that will be of benefit to everyone in the class. Within my courses I often add an assignment to write about a diversity issue within community. I have also brought speakers to my classes from various minority communities.
There is not a singular event that has brought me to Colorado Christian University, rather an unexplainable journey that has placed this institution in my path. Since the day I was baptized in the First Baptist Church in Savannah Missouri at the age of 13 I have been avoiding a path that hind sight has shown me very clearly. From the beginning I have usually taken another route than the one I was intended. When I could have been more involved with my faith I typically did not fully engage. I entered college in 1990 with no real direction in mind. I was not invested and I did not succeed, but I also did not follow the still small voice that was calling me to service the lord. I left school after accomplishing very little and joined the military
I can earnestly say that I am blessed to attend Beloit. college It allows me to see the world from a different perspective for what I am use to, and that may be a dilemma when I return back home. Beloit College is a liberal school where everyone is open to new idea's while back at home at everyone is more structure and demanding. In college I can come and go place as I please, without getting consensus from an adult. Meanwhile, back at home it is imperative that I check in with my grandparents when I leave the house, so they can know where I am going. At school I eat healthy full coarse meals while back at home we eat fried chicken or fried pork with rice every other day. Life at Beloit College and life back home differ in various ways.
Time here at Bridgewater has flown by the past four years and it is crazy to think that in five short months I will be graduating. My time here at Bridgewater College has been the best four years of my life but also some of the most difficult. I never forget the memories I have made here through soccer, Cru, and all of my classes. Bridgewater has helped me get closer to achieving my goals of being a physical therapist and becoming a more well-rounded person. I have grown tremendously in my faith because of adversities in school and also through Cru. The Bridgewater community will always be one of my favorites because of the way you grow closer with so many students. I fell more prepared to face the real world and grad school because of how
This community college is where I began my educational expedition. It provided the fundamentals and course work I needed to grasp the concept of education. The school program much more than on campus and off campus enrichments, they offered my first online courses that open my mind to new possibilities to learn. The elated and engaged program brought to light a magnificent way of learning. It was astonishing to be able to take classes at home in addition to school. Furthermore, the completion of the program successfully aided as I continued to a university with the skills and knowledge to be successful through hard work and determination.
Before joining GCU University, I studied at Suffolk Community College. Then I enrolled in Saint Joseph College where I only studied on weekends throughout the day. I liked the experience at Suffolk Community College because it was the place where I took my first English classes, and I learned the language. I took the academic courses towards to obtain an Associate degree. I did not like the experience at Saint Joseph. The instructors sent tasks and research to be done on week days. It was impossible for me to meet my classmates in the business hours because we all worked. My perception was the program had not been designed for an adult-oriented class because it functioned as a regular class. My favorite teacher was who taught me English Grammar
I did not attend a typical “brick and mortar” high school. The local school district did not meet the educational standards set by TEA (Texas Education Agency) and therefore was rated academically unacceptable. My parents weren’t financially able to send my siblings and I to a private school so we decided, as a family, to attend a “virtual” school. I knew I had to be organized and well-prepared in order to, not only “pass” my classes, but to fully understand the information that was presented to me.
Life is timed and things happen for a purpose. One day when I look back at the time that I began gaining ownership of my life, I will remember of Houston Community College (HCCs); despite the downfalls I experienced regarding my academic achievements. In this journey, every person that I had the opportunity to spend some time with, thought me a something. However, there is one that although we spent just one semester, it felt like a life. And I call her the professor who changed my life. She was my instructor from the introduction to communication class “Speech 1301,” her class helped to boost my confidence and shaped me into a person that I am today. Transferring will open doors to new experiences, new challenges and it will be one step ahead
Saint Vincent College is a college that was on my radar during the application process and was also the first one that I applies to. I knew that Saint Vincent College was going to be my home away from home the moment i stepped foot on campus during my first college tour. One advantage for me is the campus size. Coming from Windber and it’s school district, I am used to a very small school and class size all in a rural area. The big city schools with thousands upon thousands of students never appealed to me; what I wanted was a small, affordable school. Going through the application process and seeing the overall price tag was an intimidating thing for me, but getting in contact with the financial aid department was extremely beneficial. Talking
I was in my junior year of High school in a new school and country. I had just moved from Jamaica about 4 months ago and still trying to adjust to my new environment. There was a stark contrast between Jamaica and The USA: socially and academically. In Jamaica, high school lasted from grades seven through eleven and included Pre-University which was grades twelve and thirteen In grades 10-11 the number of subjects I did per day decreased from seventeen to eight and the workload for each subject increased drastically in preparation for a test at the end of grade 11 called CSEC. On the other hand in America, high school only lasted for grades 9-12, I only had to do 4 subjects per week, and there was no such thing as CSEC. Jamaica also had a terrible economy and even a college graduate had a hard time finding a job.
By being a student at Appalachian State University, I will be better able to expand not only my educational horizons, but also my mental and my physical horizons. Being a student at Appalachian State University will also help me achieve my career goal by allowing me to explore my options as well as allowing me to work alongside some of the best instructors and students.
Growing up, I always had a need to help others because I endured many hardships that I hoped others did not have to endure such as bullying and a feeling of inadequacy. This is why I often took on the leadership role in a group, so other people do not have to endure the feeling of stress or having sleep deprivation due to homework assignments, but along the way, I realized that I enjoyed leading the group. I felt empowered that everyone contributed to a group as I can help other people improve their personal struggles or strengths.
