“To succeed, you have to believe in something with such a passion that it become reality” (Anita Roddick). I never used to understand the true meaning of passion, I perceived life as a series of events you go to school, get a degree, get a job, get married, have kids, and then retire. It wasn’t until I made the decision to go to a school purely off of popularity that I came to understand what passion actually means. Graduating high school I made the decision to go to Virginia Tech to study Human Nutrition. During that year my grades began to slack, my motivation fluttered away, and my friendships became nonexistent. Yet the whole time one thing remained consistent and had my pure attention. That was the gym. I would be in the weight room everyday
Passion is a word used to describe an uncontrollable desire to improve or succeed. People develop a passion for many different things and reasons, some use passion to drive them towards success in a sport or activity, others use passion to be successful in raising children or performing well in their career. My passion is to become a successful bowler. Even though I did not start bowling until I was eighteen years old, it was apparent that I had a certain feel for the way the lanes worked. I was able to become the best on my high school team with only using a straight even though the rest of the team used balls that hooked and were proven to produce higher scores. After I graduated high school I took a year off from school to work. During that
Growing up was a weird time for me, I was overweight and socially awkward. When I was ten years old my mom insisted that I should join a swim team, so that I lose weight and learn to make friends. Over time, I joined multiple sports during all my years in school and fitness became my personal escape for everything. I acquired different skill sets and knowledge from my experience with different sports teams such as boxing, cross country, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, and track. As I got older, I knew that I wanted to work somewhere in the fitness industry but I did not know what direction to take. Now that I am in college I am starting to become more aware of how where I can take my passion for fitness and incorporate it with my career.
Every single person on this earth has a passion. No, I am not talking about fruit. I am talking about is something that can put a person on top of the world or put a 40 ton wrench right in the center of a person’s gut. Passion. Comparable to a lot of guys in this world my passion is sports. Michigan State University athletics. Consequently, when a sports beat writer imposed that my team... my team 's defense was not “good” enough to compete at the highest collegiate level at the college football playoffs. Well, I just had to tell him why he was wrong.
My decision to attend Trinity Valley Community College was influenced by two primary objectives. One was to conserve funds, as this is one of the most useful features of community colleges. The second objective was to maintain a 4.0 GPA. This is where I failed.
When first joining the Physiology Club our faculty advisor, Dr. Wehrwein, and club coordinator, James Poteracki, were both teaching my physiology lab course. Over that semester I volunteered at several elementary science events with the Club and observed small adjustments that could improve student safety and learning. Both Dr. Wehrwein and James were open to discuss my ideas and observations, and soon we were all sharing ideas about advancing the overall direction of elementary science education in the Lansing area. In one aspect, they remained my teachers in the lab, but I became a team member with equal ideas while discussing the Physiology Club. Spring semester, discussion moved to action when I was the first student given the responsibility
I remember being awaken by the loud commotion going on from the living room, so I decided to go check. I went out calling for my parents, but to my surprise, I only saw my mom on the phone crying from the reflection of a mirror. I wondered where my dad was. I got closer towards the living room and stood by the wall. I witnessed my dad sitting down on the floor having trouble to breath complaining about chest pain while my mom stood next to him. I closed my eyes in fear. I then heard something calling me to open my eyes. It was a siren that got louder and louder each second. I stood up and saw red lights shining through the window. There was a knock at the door and my mom went to open the door. Two men and a woman came through the door in navy
My whole life has consisted of insufficient finances, whether it be my mother struggling to pay the bills to keep the heat and electric on or her trying to find something for us to eat for the night with only $10. Even though there were hard time's she has always managed to take care of all seven of us. Due to these hardships, it has made me the person who I am today; hardworking and dedicated. For example, at the age of 16, I started my first job at Taco Bell, where I worked for 2 years and now work at Ruby Memorial Hospital being a Nutrition Care Assistant. Working at such a young age has shown me the value of a dollar and due to this, I have a great work ethic. However, financial difficulties have still held me back with schooling such
When I started to play soccer in 10th grade, although I was a strong player in the school soccer team, I used to lack of speed and stamina. In order to play soccer in a higher level, I decided to make a breakthrough on my physical condition. Accordingly, I worked out a strict diet for myself: vegetable and fruit as main food, a few starch foods like rice and potato and no junk food. On the other hand, I kept very intense soccer practice for most of days. At the beginning, I often felt starving before having meals. The most torturing thing was that I had to resist to the temptation of my favorite grilled steak and fried chicken when I was very hungry. However, I kept my diet strictly because I had a faith that fortune favors the tenacious. From
My desire to attend Belhaven University is far beyond the eye can see. I’ve always wanted to locate to Jackson, Mississippi and this college is perfect within my future location. Being out of south, from Maryland will help me clear my head a bit more and I think it’s the best thing for me to do; enter a new environment.
Secondly, the second main point to maintain your passion alive is to be curious and explore new ways to make you passion more interesting. A good example for this is in “The Ecstasy of Curiosity”, it states, “What humans care about is ecstatic understanding. Children experience this insatiable drive to understand and be curious”(Silva). What this piece of text evidence is saying is that people have a drive to understand things that are new and that they don’t know, which makes people want to understand something even
My journey in attending Howard University was not easy nor smooth sailing. The process in determining whether or not I would be a Howard Bison, was strictly contingent on the financial means of my family at the time.
“Finding Your Passions” (Larson 2013) is a discussion about finding one’s ideal career by examining their personal interests. It’s obvious that a job is necessary to get ahead in the fast paced society prevalent today, but Larson suggests that one’s profession doesn’t have to be a burden, in fact, it can be an enjoyment if it’s something that one feels passionate about. She believes that in order to determine this ideal career, one has to be willing to take the plunge into self discovery. Keeping an open mind and exploring new fields of interest are essential to understanding oneself, as with a rigid frame of mind, one may likely bypass their true passion. Larson propagates that power should not be considered in the decision making process,
Everyone has a some kind of passion of theirs like a sport or hobby. I was never one of those kids who was put in sports since they were little and I never had a talent. I felt like I was just a boring girl with nothing interesting about themselves. Although, I always knew I wanted to be a dancer or a cheerleader, typical little girl things. Never made the dance teams 7-9 grade so end of the year Freshmen year I heard about cheer tryouts and thought "hey, why not give it a try" even though I had no faith that I would make it because I had zero experience. Then the unexpected happened and trying out for cheer was the best decision in my life.
Growing up I always had a passion for playing sports and working hard in my academics. I didn’t naturally enjoy sports nor think that I should work hard at my academics but that was something that was instilled in me by my parents. Inheriting a competitive drive from my father I always wanted to be outside playing a sport or doing something active because that was what excited me. I knew though that if I didn’t take care of my academics I wouldn’t be able to play the sports that I loved so much. This is what motivated me to excel and develop my work ethic in the classroom from something that was forced to something that just came natural and not as much of a burden on my parents. I received my competitive drive from
"The only way to do great work is to do what you love. If you haven 't found it yet, keep looking. Don 't settle." warned Steve Jobs, in his Stanford commencement speech in 2005. I hear these words echo in my ears from time to time. The thought of living a life without passion and enthusiasm scares me. We all have had to do things that didn 't interest us at times, but I look at each day as a new opportunity to get closer to my ultimate goal.
