In general, my diet could be healthier. On the day I analyzed, I ate 2,716 calories. That amount is 516 calories over the 2,200 calories a female 13 year old should eat per day. I also ate 1,037.4 more milligrams of sodium than I should have. High sodium levels, or hyponatremia, can cause dehydration. Dehydration can cause diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. I could eat less sodium by staying away from cheese, chicken and soy sauce. As an athlete, it is crucial for me to maintain a healthy nutritious diet. To do my best while participating in physical activities, I should eat lots of fruits and vegetables. My diet is relatively well balanced, but I should still increase my intake of those two food groups. Eating more fruits and vegetables is
When my brothers and I were younger, noodles and cottage cheese were a staple food for us. My mom says that they’re a classic in every Jewish household, but she might remember it that way because cottage cheese is another food group for my Bubbie. There’s no telling how much my mom and her siblings must have ate it. But it started a family food tradition, one that my mother put a healthy twist on, as usual: one day, she served the dish with chunks of avocado.
Did you know cooking Kale doesn't get rid of any of its nutritional value. Kind of like me, no matter what happens I will always be me. In five words I would say that I’m shy, comical, athletic, intelligent, and weird in a good sort of way. My favorite color is sky blue. Not too intense but still colorful. I have a pretty casual style. I don’t go all out and style my hair and put on a really nice shirt but I probably won’t wear basketball shorts or sweats every time I go outside. I you see me you will see my blond hair, blue eyes, and me wearing jeans or some nice shorts with a t-shirt. I have a few pet peeves. First is when stuff is really unorganized, also when people try to be cool. Why can't they just be their self? My favorite type of food
For a one hundred and eighty pound guy like myself, there are several paths I could take that would lead me, nutritionally, to a healthy lifestyle. The most appealing to me have been the more meat based diets. These include a good deal of steak, chicken, and other meats that would help give me protein throughout the day.
The benefit of adequate nutrition contributing to successful athletic performance is well known, but not completely understood and applied among athletes. The purpose of this study was to assess nutrient intakes, and dietary habits
There once was a time when when I had so much self doubt it could fill an entire ocean, it was the 4th grade, and it all started by a kid named Joe, Joe was the meanest kid in school, Joe wasn’t just a kid he was like some super villain, and I guess in this particular story the superhero doesn’t win. It was the first day of the 4th grade, I walked in as confident as ever, because of my brand new fire truck red cape and a blue rubber mask, as I walked into school Joe lll approached me and said
After eating a meal high in fats (Chips, cheese burger, French fries) a couple of hours earlier, my stomach felt full even before the workout. After starting the workout, the feeling in my stomach became even worse since while working out (jogging around the playground), the food in my stomach was being tossed up and down and I felt gastric juices rising and going down my gullet. I also felt sluggish as if something was holding me back while executing the physical activity.
Have you ever played a game in the woods? Or been on a hike at night, with no light?
The way I see it, everyone carries something. Some carry the weight of ten-thousand men, and others, well, they carry small bundles. I have been carrying a concoction of things throughout my life. It started with anxiety, when I was six. I can see myself carrying that metaphorical hobo-style bag now. When I was ten, I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Now I was carrying a backpack, and by fourteen, I was carrying full hiking gear with depression. At eighteen, I carried my hiking gear and then some, because now my seemingly awkward mannerisms had a name; Aspergers.
Two of the many areas I need to change in my diet are carbs and salt! Believe it or not, I need to consume more carbohydrates than I have been lately. When I do this, I will choose the dark breads. Whole grains can provide me with the nutrients that I need also. During breakfast, which I usually skip, I should choose oatmeal with fresh fruit, but never have the oatmeal in the packet, as they have too much sugar! Bananas are also a good source of carbs, is a fruit, and is loaded with potassium.
Nutrition is extremely important to an athlete’s performance and training. What they eat daily, and weekly will be a huge impact on the athletes performance and energy levels.
Athletes need to take care of their bodies to perform well and to stay healthy. Taking care of their bodies means having a healthy diet. It’s a strong belief that diet can positively affect an athlete's overall performance. But this is a belief that isn’t backed up by any solid scientific data. “many athletes believe vegetarianism does improve their stamina, mental alertness, ability to recover from injuries, and overall general health.” Athletes who eat vegetables and all around healthier food usually perform better due to being healthier in general. The diet of an athlete is crucial in their well being though. Athletes are constantly building muscles so they need their bodies to be very healthy. To be very healthy, you need to be
I don’t think I would have ever imagined me calling myself a Vegan since my two favorite foods in the past were watermelon and Steak. I could have easily pounded a 12 oz steak on the daily if I could a few months ago. Now, I can’t ever imagine myself ingesting an animal, I don’t think ever. Taking what I have learned from being Vegan and applying it to my daily life in ways i wouldn’t have thought of before has made me change my outlook on life. Before Veganism, I pictured myself in a stressful but decent way to live like going to college and getting a degree for music or even business. I still have that mindset just so much more creativity and a more positive outlook that could come with those passions of mine. I’d love to start
I've kind of always been big. Since I knew what the word fat meant, since I knew what size a young girl was supposed to wear, since I knew that the seesaw was supposed to move up and down and not just lean on my end. It was always hard to be outspoken when I didn’t want to be noticed. Wanting seconds or a snack after dinner was hard to admit to myself when I felt like I was being judged. My problem was ignoring the voices in my head that screamed I was too ugly to be loved, too fat not to be laughed at, and too shy not be stepped on. Voices that sounded like family members who whispered behind my back; I guess they stuck on as they passed by me. In high school, I decided that I loved eating, and anyone who believed I was less than anything
I worked in McDonalds for 4 months when I was in high school 25 years ago. I left to get married and move to Kentucky with Military Husband. I also have worked in several dietary fields'. I worked for IBP meat slaughter in Josilin Il. for 9 months before leaving to move back home nearer my parents.
I feel as though, Christopher is correct about people relying on intuition too much. My reasoning for saying this is that there are many times when people are regretful because they make mistakes with no logic. There could be moments when someone has done something negative but instead of them making the right decision, they will choose to go with their gut. A time when I had to make an important decision was when I started doing my summer reading assignments. I'd began to think about what could happened to my grade if I had decided to be lazy and not do it. My gut feeling was to skip the summer reading and do the rest of my work but I was aware of the consequences that came along with that, so I did it. Therefore, I used logic rather than
