There are many events always happening at the UofA, but I decided that I wanted to attend an event that was close to heart. Which is why I chose to attend my roommates’ wheelchair basketball game. During the time I was present there I noticed not only the players spirit and commitment but also the coach’s passion for the game, the audience’s enthusiasm, and even the gymnasiums decorations gymnasium. Also, I met some of the starring players for our university to gain a deeper understanding of how they feel about the game, the audience but mainly how they feel about this second chance they have to play the sport they love so much. Attending this game with an open mind has impacted me in multiple ways; not only in my opinion about the game but
My history with Florida A & M University started before I was born. Looking back from day one, my family specifically my mom, cousin and aunts instilled in me what was the definition of a true Rattler. Some have defined a true Rattler as a go getter who stops at nothing to accomplish their goal. Some have defined a true Rattler as a well spoken and confident student attending FAMU. Others, simply would define a true Rattler as a student who has fallen on the hill going to class. Considering these definitions and countless others, I possess the solid qualities for attending Florida A & M University and becoming a true Rattler.
This past August I had moved from my hometown of 18 years to a college an hour and a half away. The name of that college is Bradley University.
My first experience on Trinity’s campus was participating in the Leadership Greater Hartford Summer Nexus program during the summer of my junior year. I spent a week at Trinity’s Multicultural Office discussing diversity and inclusion topics with my peers, expanding my leadership skills and organizing a fundraiser for Jonathan’s Dream Playground. After spending time on Trinity’s campus, I had a natural curiosity to learn more about the college’s academic rigor and commitment to diversity and inclusion. During college fairs, I spoke with Trinity representatives about my Summer Nexus leadership experience and they informed about the Preview Weekend.
I choose Florida Atlantic University because I felt in love with the sprit of the school. In my opinion FAU has all the requisites to provide me with an extraordinary education. In other words, the school is unknown for one of the best public University in Florida. For me is an honor to be able to represent the university and to able to enrich my academic journey at Florida Atlantic University. Most importantly the locations of the school was very important to me because I want a calm yet diverse area, which I can feel safe and comfortable. Once I step into FAU I knew it was the perfect school and everyone there were so attentive. The smaller classes more of a one-on-one with professors it very important for my educational learning. As a communication
Although this journey seems as if it just began let me look back and say how happy and excited I am to once overcome and complete one of my goal in life. I clearly remembered my first day at Galen University, thought I would never finish this program because numerous hindrances that I have confronted. This week have been one that I am so happy for yet baffled since I thought I would have gotten my final panel visit this week nevertheless, it is practically over. With the elegance and quality of God I can do all things. During this time we have had a few mishaps in our lesson because of having the Canadian Mission Praise and Worship Team and the New Horizon Group doing a presentation at our school on two separate dates anyways, I can considered
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point has been an element of my life for the better part of elevens years. Remembering visits to my cousin's apartment were sometimes the highlight of the month. When my brother made the decision to attend UW-Stevens Point I was thrilled because of memories I knew I would get to relive. These two people have been a major factor in my life because they are the first of my generation in the family to graduate from college. The hard work put in from these two has given me a better understanding of what it takes to get through higher. Many people go to college for the experience you will be able to get and not the academic advancement opportunities. This is exactly why my family members have succeeded in this
The reason I want to become part of the Loyola Community is first the academics and classroom feeling. I did a shadow day at Loyola a few weeks ago, and at first I didn’t really know if I wanted to come. At the end of the day I knew this was the school I wanted to go to! The first class I don’t remember the name, but kids from all different grades came into this room. People talked about there problems and they were so open to sharing their thoughts and feeling. They were so comfortable with each one, and every kid was accepting and understanding about the other kids issues or problems. Then once I got to the learning aspect the teacher's connection with the kid is something you don’t see to often in a high school. The teacher
As of today I have had many involvements at FIU but without one special event I wouldn’t have been were I am today. Panther camp on August 17th through the 19th had been first involvement at FIU .It was a retreat-like experience that helped me find other ways of making friends that I had not known of. For example, having the availability to speak to whomever throughout the camp and not be shy or worried of judgment. I was able to leave knowing that my experience in Panther Camp about making friends could be around campus as well and in other places that I wish to create friends.
mentality, I did not even bother to argue. That was the time when I applied to St. Catherine University, which took longer than other colleges to hear back. I visited the college around that time I applied; I completely loved it. I just knew I had to come here, a perfect location from home and most importantly their value for women's education. I waited, and I waited to hear back, and then I called them, and they told me I was accepted to the Associate program which I never knew about. They said if I do well the first year, I will be able to transfer to the four years. I was sad and frustrated to hear that I wasn’t going into a four year. I didn’t give up, and I actually was willing to work toward transferring to the four years. I was more than happy to graduate
During my academic career at UCLA, I learned several skills that will enable me to thrive in the open position such as research skills. I have experience with Geographic Information Systems that allow me to analyze and produce valuable maps by using software like Quantum GIS. Furthermore, I had the privilege of volunteering for the California Pacific Neighborhood Immigration Clinic in a File Clerk role, where I learned valuable skills such as records management and community outreach skills. The immigration clinic works with the United Methodist Church and volunteer attorneys. The clinic helps low-income communities with immigration matters such as Legal Permanent Resident applications. I performed initial client screening, filed applications
Azusa Pacific University holds a distinct impact on my spiritual life, which in turn impacted my entire life. Entering this journey with faith, building a relationship with God, and finding a community began here, at APU. My sophomore year in High school, my sister was a junior at APU, she introduced me to positive outlook of Christianity, where it plays out not only in Chapel but in the classrooms, with the people, and through the entire campus. I seen through her what impact and transformation Christ can do to a person and I wanted that in my life.
I lived very close toNSU while I was in high school, so I have been familiar with NSU for a while now. I was considering attending NSU for undergrad, but at the time it was not the best choice for me, financially. I also attended a NSU ASDA event last year through my universities Pre-Dental association and got to explore the campus much better, especially the dental aspect of it. I fell in-love with it and have been wanting to attendNSU
Malala Yousafzai said, “Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.” Yousafzai is one of the many people who have used their influence to change lives. Her strength and courage have left me inspired, and I hope that one day I can be as influential in someone’s life. I cannot think of a better way to prepare myself for such a task than college. I am excited to start a new chapter in my life, and I cannot wait to see what Eastern Michigan University has in store for me. I plan on making the most of my college experience at Eastern Michigan University through taking risks, personal growth, and gaining skills and strategies.
I was raised to be a Purdue fan. My dad attended in 1986, seven out of nine of his siblings attended, so growing up I was always told I could “follow in my family’s footsteps”. When I was younger I accompanied my father at Boiler sporting events, dressed to the nines in black and gold. I would clap when he clapped. Cheer when he cheered. High fived those around me like he did. However, I did not feel like I belonged there, and that is what led me here. It was not until I met David Hon, who would eventually become my stepdad, in 2010. He had graduated with a Bachelor’s degree at Indiana University, the school I was brought up to despise. One day he took me to see the campus and the flowers, trees, and the general simplicity of nature and my
The University of Maryland is the next step for me to achieve success. Coming out of high school, I had a feeling college would be the defining moment in my life. It seemed that it took me a long time to realize what I needed to do in order to really fulfill my potential – I took my education for granted. I knew I needed more time to develop before enrolling in a full time, 4-year university such as UMD. Though I struggled, I learned what I would need to do at FCC to succeed through the mistakes I had made in high school. I needed to put my theories to work: If I worked longer and harder, would I succeed? If I put in my best effort, would I get the grade I wanted? With that in mind, I did not allow my brain or body to break when I moved on
