HONK! HONK! HONK! WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO! VROOM VROOM! These are all of the sounds I heard during my experience at the Touch-A-Truck across from Columbus East. Other than the constant noises of sirens, honking and revving of vehicles, the day was pretty great. Working with the kids was awesome, getting to see them in a nontraditional classroom setting and seeing there more wild and fun sides. The kids that I worked with included, William, Brian, Jamieelyn and NAME. William was the more quiet type, but also needed lots of attention to stay alert and willing to participate. Brian did not like to walk at the same pace as us and also just wanted to play in the dirt or whatever he could find on the ground. Both of the boys acted very tired and
The way she looks on a long dark night With all of her chicken lights and chrome She is mean and green with enough light That it’s seen a hundred miles from my home She can haul a very heavy forty head All while going one hundred mile per hour All the other cattle truckers dread When they see my truck with all its power It has a screaming cat that won’t hold back And let’s the black as darkness smoke roll
On September 08, 2015 at approximately 9:29 PM I, Deputy Bowring, was dispatched to shots fired and the subjects were in a black in color, Nissan pickup, heading north bound on Farm to Market 288 toward State Highway 154.
My grandpa got the deal of a lifetime on his truck. He only payed $ 800 it doesn't have a motor in it. My grandpa, my uncle Jack, and I worked on the truck
Waking up the morning that I was meant to leave for my trip, all that I could do was try to will my bladder not to have to use the bathroom and inconvenient amount of times and trying to decipher the correct amount of water that I should drink in order to not have to go. When I woke up a peed, before I left, I peed, when I got to Anna’s house I peed again just for good measure- and that was all within a couple of hours. When we finally left on our 8 hour journey my new mantra was “don’t think about having to pee” which as you can assume was the adverse of what I was trying to do. For the first 3 hours I didn’t have to go, and I was so proud of myself. After that I gained some confidence and was like “I got this, I will pee when
The first time I drove. So, my grandmother decided to risk here life to teach me to drive for only two blocks. And my grandmother was a horrible teacher because she is used to standard cars and not automatic, so she puts her feet on both the gas pedal and the brake. Anyways, I can't believe that the car seems to go so fast and I was only going 5 mph! And then, I didn't know how to brake and my grandmother almost hit her head on the dash! Luckily, we made it
The car is a servant to the man is vivid to me because you can take a car to get places. The man drives the car like a jet is also vivid to me. I can see a man driving his car like a jet. The car is a restaurant another unusual one to me because I can’t picture it in my mind. The car is a word of the device would be another unusual one to me because I am not sure what it means. The car is a night club surprising to me because I can’t picture it as a nightclub. The car is a holder of mail is vivid to me because I keep mail in my car all the time. The woman uses the car as a glamour studio would be a surprising one to me because I would use the bathroom to glamour myself. The car is a family shuttle vivid to me because I can see a family using
Standing on that rugged practice field on a brisk Friday night, I begin to feel my nerves clench inside my rushing body. Looking to my right, the cheers of the crowd congratulate the younger boys as they stroll off the field. The bright lights glow beyond the ginormous section of bleachers and ancient trees. Lining up on the curb, the drumline pounds a beat that sends chills down my spine. My team strides down Prospect street at the heels of the drums. No words are said, as I tune into the scratchy, clicking sound of my shining white, size-twelve cleats making contact with the car-lined road.
On 11/22/2017 at approximately 17:48 hours I was dispatched to the 1400 Block East US-160 Highway, Oxford, Sumner County Kansas for a call that originated as a 911 hang up. While responding to the area I was informed the calling party from the hang up was the driver in a car vs deer accident.
Experiencing this roller coaster ride with y It has been a light and dark situation but all in all a very good learning experience for the both of us in learning one’s self. At the end of the day what is truth is the love that we share together and bringing us out of the darkness and into the light it has been a very trying situation sometimes I wondered if we would ever come out of this darkness. But then the light comes on and we understand why we go through what we go through together. We feel a sigh of relief with understanding. As for giving me that disconnection because without it I wouldn’t be saying this on paper. So here I am preparing myself for what I do best with the help and love from Larry.
As I felt the truck buck, I knew I that hadn’t switched gears properly. The engine shut off and the evening dragged on. “You killed it,” my father told me. I restarted the old truck up and tried driving again. Learning to drive was very difficult for me, but I needed to learn so that I could transport my brother and me to school and wherever else we needed to go. I waited to get behind the wheel of an automobile until I finished the dull driver’s education class that my parents had signed me up for a month after turning fifteen. I thought that I would easily pick up driving since I had passed all the written tests without any problems, but I was wrong.
It was a normal friday morning here in Dallas, I walk out to my condo balcony to breathe in the the fresh hot air, with a hint of cut lawn clippings. It is a perfect day for a parade through downtown Dallas with Mr. Kennedy. I walked over a few rooms to do my routinely check on Mr. President, and as usual his confident self just shooed me away and told me to do my own thing. I begin to start my breakfast that I usually cook for him and his family when we are on campaign. The overwhelming smell of bacon and eggs drug Kennedy out of his room over into the kitchen to eat some breakfast. Still in his PJ’s and all he does the same as me and walks out the balcony and shouts out that it is going to be a great day. After I eat my delicious
A few days before my 16th birthday my dad asked if I wanted him to take me out to practice driving. As I jumped up screaming yes, he threw me the keys. I ran to the car as fast as I could, extremely excited. My hands were shaking from the amount of excitement and nervousness I was feeling as I sat behind the steering wheel. I started the car and turned to my dad for the next instruction. I noticed he looked a little nervous, but his eyes were filled with tears. I thought he can’t be that nervous about my first drive, can he? So I asked him if everything was okay and as tears rolled down his cheeks he assured me, “Everything is fine, it’s just hard to see you growing up so fast.” We hugged, cried, and then laughed together. That is
One bitter cold night, Elvin was driving the two of us to a football game in Dallas, Texas. That night, I ended up doing something impossible. It was tragic, but It made me feel empowered.
The road was an endless sea of cars as I looked over the overwhelming amount of traffic. It was a hazy night, but not enough to interfere with a driver’s ability to see or drive. Of course, that’s only in my opinion, seeing I had fairly good eyesight and was completely awake.
Witnessing experiences my family and friends had to undergo, I have been raised with the idea of trying to live by “justice.” Because of that, I have thrown myself into advocacy work. For example, I am the Chairman of Mayor Youth City Council where I can voice and act on some of my concerns for our city of Memphis. Since last year, I have also had the chance to work internationally. For example, I got to partner with Sister Fa [she is a famous Senegalese celebrity and activist] and work with the Senegalese government on how to stop Female Genital Mutilation while still respecting the culture. I even was lucky enough to be able to open my own nonprofit Tomorrow’s Promises Inc., where I try to implement projects on the local and international level. I traveled to India [by myself] to try to resolve a situation where I had raised money by knocking door to door to try to get some toilets put in for women [previous notions had not allowed women to get an toilets so they went to the fields]. Because of my age and other reasons, the villagehead had taken the money, but did not follow through. When I went there to at least get the money back, I ended up staying with the people a little bit and began to meet the schools around. With no electricity, they needed some way to educate the kids, so I aided in building libraries for the students. Then, I
