When I first came to Kansas State University I thought I had it all figured out. Coming in as an Animal Science major I was more than certain I wasn't going to be one of the students who "changed their major at least once." But I did. My second semster of my first year I decided to take MC 110 as a replacement for a history requirement, little did I know that I would come to love learning about how mass media transformed over the years. From then on I made it priority to take a mass communications class. I was enjoying my mass communication classes more than my animal science classes and I knew I had to make the switch. So this past summer I switched to the A.Q. Miller School with the intent of focusing on advertising. MC 120 taught me a lot
Before my senior year of high school, I never expected to be so far away, and in such a distant place. I was initially drawn to Tuscaloosa by scholarships but did not have any idea what to expect once I arrived here in late August. I can distinctly recall my first day at Alabama, it was one of the most confusing experiences I had ever been through. Walking from my dormitory to my first class, chemistry, felt like a dream, and the start of what I knew to be an important chapter of my life. Fear and uncertainty hijacked the typical emotion of excitement first year college students usually possess. Part of this anxiety, I believe, is due to the importance of scholastic success in my situation, specifically. I had known since middle school that
As I sat on the couch getting ready for the first day back at school, I heard the phone in the kitchen ring. I stood up to go answer it and I heard loud footsteps coming down the stairs. My mother was running down the stairs to answer it just in case it was one of her work calls. I noticed that her voice started to crack as if she was going to cry and the smile that she once had on her face had disappeared. The person on the other end of the phone was my Uncle Dylan from California calling to let us know that Aunt Liz had died in a car wreck. We were so devastated but little did we know she left me $12k. A couple days later I received a letter in the mail saying that I had to use it to help pay for my tuition. I am looking to attend the nursing program at Lindenwood, Missouri State, or St. Louis University.
Tumultuous is the word I would use to describe my personal transition to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Maybe tumultuous exaggerates my experience slightly, but I did endure my fair share of highs and lows. I was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin which is about three hours from Eau Claire. As much as I thought I was prepared to leave the safety of home behind, I soon realized that my sense of security was false. It was probably week five that I had a little meltdown; I seriously questioned whether I wanted to be at Eau Claire or not. I’m an English Education major and examining the Appleton Area School District, and surrounding communities reveal that many of the educators in my desired teaching area graduated from Oshkosh. I
When I was a senior in high school my father had his second heart attack and had to have open heart surgery. Upon Graduation from High School in May 2016, I made the decision to move in with my Father who is a sixty-eight-year-old Disabled Vietnam Veteran with many health issues. During my Freshman year at Pearl River Community College, his health had declined and the doctors discovered that he had an aneurysm in his chest and blockages in his legs. Thankfully after his surgery was completed and he was able to come back home, I was to be on break so I could stay with him and help with whatever he needed. I am one of six children and have chosen to take care of him and live there in lieu of working outside of College. The two oldest of my
I am Efrashia Nicole Crespin and I was raised here in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I had recently moved to Hobbs, New Mexico and came back to finish my high school career and start at New Mexico State University the following semester. I am majoring in the school of Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management as for short we call it HRTM. I have received numerous scholarships from the university in pursing in bachelors here at New Mexico State. I am grateful for the opportunities the school as offered to me coming from a very low income family.
I fell in love with her at the age of six. Her and I were going to be together forever. When the teacher came up to me and told me how perfect we were each other at the bake sale in second grade, I knew. When I went to fairs to sell cell phone cases with my dad and she was always with me, I knew. As we grew older, the closer we got and the more her and I understood each other. At this point, she had turned into a part of me, it was no longer her and I but rather we. Coming to University of Texas at Austin, has admittedly created a strain on our relationship. I was not sure if our relationship should continue, were we really meant for each other? I did not know her, I did not know how we would change the world, but now I do. This is the story
I am a junior majoring in computer science. I earned my Associate of Science at El Paso Community College in Fall 2015 and my high school diploma at TMECHS in Spring 2016. This is my first year at Texas Tech University. I am required to take this course, but I’m looking forward to learning how to respond to situations that aren’t so black and
Throughout high school, getting involved was easy. Joining clubs and running for leadership positions was not intimidating, because I was comfortable with my surroundings. Playing in and attending varsity athletic events make up some of my fondest memories. Beyond extracurriculars, I was able to navigate high school with the same close group of friends. No matter what the occasion, there were always familiar faces surrounding me.
Waking up at Murray State University on a regular Tuesday seems boring. I could have gone to my Economics lecture like a responsible student should had. (Theme number one karma for not attending class). After rolling out of bed to see the Spring semester sky bright and blue. I thought to myself, why do I have lecture today. I went about my morning routine taking a shower and brushing my teeth like a normal human. Wondering what to wear that morning I checked the weather app. Just because the sky is blue doesn’t mean it’s always warm outside. The weather app read 75 degrees, making my pain to go to class even more dreary. I finished getting dressed for this amazing Spring day of Economics lecture, “sarcasm at its best”. While packing up my backpack to
My name I is Brandon Love ,I'm 20 years old, and I have just made my way into Wichita Area Technical college, but first I'm want to say I little bit about who I am; I'm 5'11, my favorite thing to is to wake up on Monday mornings at 7 o'clock to go running at the school walk path by my house, but before I do that I do a forty minute stretch so I can feel and get into my run, then I drink a cup of protein shake and then start my challenge for the day. once I've started my run I don't stop for five minutes and then .take a break for about two minutes . following with a repeat and a game of basketball with my cousin. Last I would like to add that I'm doing well in school, once fall semester starts ill be I will begin my associates degree success
different doors to enter the school. Each here to move on with their life’s. My first day of school
It seems to me that the world is changing. Technology is reaching new heights, culture had accelerated its pace, and most of all society itself is on the verge of something new. In what direction, this is all headed, I cannot say. What I do know is that it is not terrible as some might claim. What I do know is that that the world is getting more connected, opinions are traveling through space in less than a second, some good, some bad, some crazy and some painfully true. We live in a magnificent era, that is as breathtaking as it is polarizing. This new world I believe requires a new way of thinking, of learning, and that is what I have come to the Evergreen State College to attain.
The last few months have been extremely difficult and life changing to say the least. I've grown in so many ways that I didn't think we're possible. As much as I bitched, cried, complained and bitched some more about school, its an opportunity that I will forever be grateful for. It's so rewarding to know that I'm one step closer to reaching my goals!
Tuesday was my first day in my placement. I was nervous about going to State College, so I left an hour and a half earlier just in case there would be a lot of traffic. The drive was not too bad, but my GPS took me to the middle school instead of the elementary school. Eventually, I figured out where I needed to go and the day was good after that!
Boston University is the best fit for me because it gives me an all package deal that completes all my wishes and what has specifically led me to apply for admissions was the fact that my cousin, Anthony Esponda, told me how great of a school Boston University was and how it completed all of his wishes too. For starters, BU has the major I need, Chemistry:Biochemistry, that will accomplish my requirements of becoming a successful Podiatrist. Second, after graduating from getting my bachelors and masters, I can move on to Boston University School of Medicine, which takes place conveniently less than three miles away from Boston University, but leaves me no worries of having to travel to a college out of state. Third, pursuing to a college in
