The rain was coming down hard stadium lights relflecting off the soaking muddy grass. The bleachers were packed with roaring fans you could feel the ground rumbling from the band playing. The fans waving flags and holding up homemade sighns. It was the championship my team and I had been practicing for this moment for so long. The helmets coliding as we reached in and said a quick prayer for good luck. The team had huddled up around the coach as he was going over the game plan. The team was as focused as can be no movement was made in that circle. We bent a knee into the wet grass looking up at our coach rain falling from the dark sky above he gave us a motivation speech. Being the Quarter-back I ran out onto the field first with my team behind me we met face to face with the enemy at the 50 …show more content…
I took a look at the bright scoreboard 14-14 we were tied. They threw a perfect pass and got a touchdown the score was now 14-20 we were now on offense I got up and huddled up with the coach we went over a plan. We need to make a touchdown and make a field goal and we win. I was exhausted my skin was burning center snapped the ball I faked the pass it was a hand off running as fast as he could 12 ran like a cheetah running straight through the battle dodging players left and right straight to the end zone I jumped in joy I looked to my coach to see him screaming in joy. My team set up for a field goal sitting on the bench I could see team mates praying bighting their finger nails in hopefullness that we make the field goal and win the championship. The kicker streteched one last time before kicking the ball it flew threw the air everyone got up It was a clean field goal we did it the team screamed in joyness ramming eachother to the ground hugging eachother I felt all the weight on my shoulders just dissapear. The crowd roaring behind us caused the bench to shake I got up and hugged my
We got changed in the locker room, listening to music that would get our adrenaline pumping. The game started with a tip-off with us getting the ball and scoring on the first play, but so did the other team. The game was very close. We would score, they would score. No one ever got ahead by more than four points. At the end of the second quarter with ten seconds left, it was their ball and we were down by two. They did a nice play and a girl got a wide open three pointer. Then the buzzer went off and we all looked at our fuming coach and knew what was about to come at half time. You know that scene in the movie, “42” about Jackie Robinson, where the other teams coach is yelling at him saying rude things? And then there’s the heartbreakingly beautiful scene where Jackie goes into the dugout and breaks his bat and screams and cries. That’s what our halftime was like. The coach yelling and us wanting to scream and cry, but still we had determination to win this game. We came back out ready to play and immediately tied it back it up. The game kept going back and forth, until the fourth quarter with a minute left and us up by four. The other teams coach called a timeout and our coach gave us a speech about if we wanted to win, we needed teamwork. Teamwork just like Jackie Robinson and the Brooklyn Dodgers. We came back out and held the game at four points until the buzzer went
Nebraska game. The Gophers have not beaten the Huskers in 65 years, they have only met about 15 times though. Coach Kill had just suffered from a seizure and had to coach from the coaches’ box so that if it happened again, it would not cause a distraction I didn’t think a lot of it then but he was risking a lot coaching the game he loved. When I got into the stadium, I found the score fourteen to nothing and the Huskers were up. I did not figure the Gophers would come back from an early lead by the Huskers, but I was wrong. The Gophers rallied. Something in that stadium changed. Their student section erupted, people rose their white towels that said, “Epilepsy Research”, on it and waved them around to form a white sea. The Gophers came back to win it even after watching their coach suffer from a seizure the week before. The Gopher fans rush the field after the exciting and well needed
As I stood in right field, the sun in my face, ready for anything that came my way.The first pitch was a strike. The game had now begun. All of the fans were packed into Veterans Memorial Park and cheering ever so loud for their team. The first batter struck out, and although we just started I could not help but think we were one out closer to going to state. The next two batters were also thrown out. It was now time for us, the Senior Rams to bat. The nerves were still at an all time high for everyone as we changed sides. We went down one, two, three outs and took the field again. Both of the teams were full of very quality players so everyone knew it was going to be a fantastic game. The next three innings were one, two, three innings for both teams.
It was September 16th, 2014, and I was in the most stressful situation in my life. If I could lead my team down the field and score a touchdown, I would earn the starting job as a quarterback! I was sweating and shivering, with my muscles twitching. I dreadingly glanced at the scoreboard. Down 24-19, 2 timeouts remaining, 53 seconds left after the defense miraculously got a safety. I looked up. The sun shone bright, but the falling leaves danced in the air, almost daring me to let the ball fly.
A few years ago, my best friend, Quinn, invited me and my dad to go to an NFL game that included the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings. It was my first NFL game and the first time I was ever in Minneapolis. His grandpa got free tickets every year and gave us a pair to go with them. I was excited to go, it was my first NFL game I saw in person, and was the most enjoyable trip I have had so far.
Everything felt slow with just 45 more minutes until the game no one was ready yet. Everyone was moving around, no one could sit still. This was the first time that everyone has been in this kind of position. My coach came in and asked for the captains. Our captain looked around and picked me to go with him. With chills going down my neck I slowing walked out with him. On the field I can see so many lights shining, the ice cold air. Walking to the middle of the field my captain asked me to call the toss. I told him no but he told me he was too nervous to do it. Slowly walking towards the middle of the field we saw the other team’s captains. They were huge way bigger than me. The first strategy of football is to send your biggest guys to scare the other team. Well they did it to perfection to six foot guys that looks
Heavy rain was sluicing from the sky. Lighting struck and smote two light post causing them both to go out. The crowd gasped but remained in their seats gripping hold of their umbrella's and bags over their heads. The game continued and soon my team and I was racing against the clock. Cedarwood had managed to intercept and score, and if we didn't get a touchdown soon, the game would be over.
I recently went to Marist’s first football game of the season with Peyton (in our class) and Michael Cully. Mr. Yount was our teacher that day. I showed up early and helped set up the bus and the field with equipment for the broadcast. 30 minutes until the game Michael was showing Peyton and me the in’s and outs of the camera and we got to practice with them a lot. 20 minutes until the game Peyton and I were basically pros with the camera. 10 minutes until kickoff we start undergoing problems. Apparently even though the field was supposed to have Wi-Fi for us to broadcast, we didn’t get a single bar. So up until halftime Peyton and I were playing with the cameras while Michael and Mr. Yount tried to solve the
They were marching down the field making one play after the other. “ Make a stop!” exclaimed the coach. Then we got the stop we were in great need of. It was 4th down, late in the 4th quarter. We left them with no choice but to pass the ball. They had a receiver who was about 6 feet tall and he was running right at me. I slowed him up from his route and Devon is standing right behind me intercepts the ball in the end zone. “ Don’t run! Take a knee!” shouted everyone on the team. As we came over to the sideline the whole team celebrated the
Victorious we had one more game one more chance to realize our goal make the playoffs. This one game summed up our season going into it our quarterback goes down with a high ankle sprain and can not play, but we were not worried as our backup was a phenomenal athlete we just needed him to play other spots till now. It is friday October tenth we had a home game against the Seymour Thunder who was in the same boat we were in win or go home, they were also carrying on their roster two Wisconsin badger recruits six foot six three hundred and sixty pound Jon Dietzen then do it all lineman at six foot four and three hundred even pounds Gunnar Roberege. The game does not start how we would like right out of the game they score on a long touchdown
Senior year of college, Theresa, myself, Ryan and Michelle were the returning four on the cheer squad. We were at the football field getting ready to start practice when the players came out of the locker room to start there practice. I was scanning all the familiar faces then there he was. Just as good-looking as he was last year, and he was staring right back at me. I smiled at Ronnie until one of his teammates slapped him on the shoulder and turned his attention back to the drills they were getting ready to start. His tanned broad shoulders and muscles cut so perfect my fingers tingled at the thought of caressing every inch of him. “He’s single you know?” Theresa said.
I kinda moved away from soccer and started playing football it was my first year and wasn't sure how I would do or what I would do. They put me at inside linebacker and I didn't know what to do I just remember the coach said go for the ball and hit them as hard as possible. .
Sitting on the cold bleachers, I waited for my sister to appear. Cradling a cup of hot chocolate I tried to warm my hands from the harsh fall winds. Taking a sip of the cocoa, I could feel the warmth of the liquid go down my throat. Then I saw her. My sister ran onto the field surrounded by her teammates. A huge grin on her face as she sprinted to the outfield, softball cradled in her glove, she looks like she belonged. The next year she was no longer apart of that team, yet I was still found on the bleachers. Once again I looked for my sister, warming myself with my hot chocolate. I found her running onto the field, lacrosse net in hand. Alongside of a new group of teammates; she still looked like she belonged. Another year passes, and I was
The following week was our next game and we were extremely ready. We practiced everyday as hard as we could because we knew how close we were to the championship I could almost feel it. The team we were playing was the saints and they seemed as ready has us, but we knew we were going to come out on top. In the first five inning both teams didn't score or get any hits. It wasn't until the the seventh inning when until any one got a hit. It was a little blooper over the second baseman's head for a single that's when we got fired up. The next at bat a double down the third base side was hit. Now there was runners on third and second with no outs, this was our chance to take the lead. The next batter up popped up the first pitch to the catcher
One fall afternoon on a chilly day in 2012, I was playing for LCSC against Canton Celtic in the state cup finals. Most of our team arrived an hour early to warm up, but I was running late and arrived only a half hour early. Stepping on such a well cut field filled me with joy and took my mind off of the fact that I was so late. Canton Celtic has been our rivals for as long as I can remember; each minute leading up to kick off became more nerve racking.
