I was worried about being drawn to other topics besides marine science. It's what I've always thought I wanted to do, but after my first year at Evergreen, I've allowed myself to explore a lot more. I decided it's okay to learn and experience different things along the way, as long as I feel they're beneficial, and will improve my understanding of the world. I haven't veered too far from my original interest and want my focus to be in environmental studies.
Philosophy, art, music, and marine biology are the topics I chose to explore my first year. Philosophy helped me think deeper, and outside of myself. My philosophy teacher was also very helpful in improving my writing. While learning about music, I also learned about how the brain interprets information, and how cultures around the world utilize music differently. The elements of art I learned were primarily in animation and drawing. The time we spent closely examining aspects of nature for our sketches called upon my patience, and helped drive home the importance of viewing issues from every angle to better understand them. I appreciated all the marine biology I was exposed to. I love learning about the way we interact with the ocean and it's life within. It's a massive, complex commodity

I'm also interested in expanding my knowledge of small and large scale economies, as well as how capitalism, and other economic political systems have altered societal values over time. Learning this is important to me because of the way commercial industry has driven humans to exploit nearly all, and destroy much of the environment. Even so, I know there is a vast amount of people who share my opinion. Large organizations and community driven groups have been growing everywhere in an effort to combat the damage commodification has wreaked on our environment. Growth in my experience with groups such as these is another goal of
During my high school days and the last few semesters when I was at Sandhill Community College I was way too comfortable. I slacked off and all I was thinking about was just getting doing the minimum to just be finished already. Recently, I was pushed by the looks of my grades that I just needed to get things done; I wanted to be free, not to do my best, just to finish so I could say I passed all my classes. Now I realize life isn’t about just getting by, but about bringing all you have to be able to become successful in what needs to be done. In the next paragraphs I will explain what I expected to happen, what actually happened, what I learned, and how I will apply what I learned to future plan.
My first year at Jamestown Community College as a student, I accomplished making Part-time Dean’s List two semesters back to back. Beginning college that year my personal goal was to strive making new habits to get the best experience out of college, while keeping up with my grades. I took classes to guide me through learning paths, but it they taught me ways of accomplishing what you wanted out of life and other significant information in classes. Prior, to entering to college I received a scholarship called Chautauqua Educational Opportunity to attend Jamestown Community College. It is significant to my study because in high school I constantly strived to push myself to get the grades I wanted to be proud of. I was part of a couple activities
During my first week at Langara College School I know from the start that school was not the one for me; therefore, I started asking around where becoming a nurse would be fast and easy to get into a school and could instantly get a job right after I graduate. From there I did some research on my own and ask previous students who graduated at Sprott Shaw Community College if all the extra money that I will be spending it in a private institution instead of a public institution is worth it. In the end, I do not regret anything going into Sprott Shaw College because this is the appropriate school for me and would recommend to anyone who is confused or lost what they want to do in the future.
When I was a senior in high school my father had his second heart attack and had to have open heart surgery. Upon Graduation from High School in May 2016, I made the decision to move in with my Father who is a sixty-eight-year-old Disabled Vietnam Veteran with many health issues. During my Freshman year at Pearl River Community College, his health had declined and the doctors discovered that he had an aneurysm in his chest and blockages in his legs. Thankfully after his surgery was completed and he was able to come back home, I was to be on break so I could stay with him and help with whatever he needed. I am one of six children and have chosen to take care of him and live there in lieu of working outside of College. The two oldest of my
I am a junior majoring in computer science. I earned my Associate of Science at El Paso Community College in Fall 2015 and my high school diploma at TMECHS in Spring 2016. This is my first year at Texas Tech University. I am required to take this course, but I’m looking forward to learning how to respond to situations that aren’t so black and
There are two main goals that I would like to achieve by the end of my first semester of college at Youngstown State University. First, I would like pass all of my courses with at least a B. Second, I need to realize that I am paying for this expensive college education so I need to go to class regularly and be prepared to learn. These are my two personal goals that I wish to achieve by the end of my first semester of college at Youngstown State University.
Hello I know it is early but I was just wondering about how to go about becoming a student here next september. I am going to into my second year of Westchester Community College in Westchester. After my two years I would like to attend John Jay, what would be the steps in attending? Is their a certain grade I need to get in order to get in. Also while I was in high school I never took the SAT/ACT would that be a problem ?
The sound of thunder went through and my house in the middle of the night. Filled with anticipation, I was just waiting for the long rainy days to be over so I could begin to enjoy my summer. The forecast said tomorrow would have low percentages of precipitations. Plenty of events had been planned for that following week with my friend and I. We just wanted the rain to stop. It was the beginning of the summer of 2016 and I had just finished my senior year of high school heading to my Super Senior year as an Early College Student. The excitement of independence and self-exploration for the following years to come rushing through my body as I thought about the future events. I was still going to attend Surry Community College to earn enough
different doors to enter the school. Each here to move on with their life’s. My first day of school
During my first year at Ithaca College I experienced a major depression. I had family complications when I first went away to college and it affected in a way which I had never experienced before. The pain I suffered day after day, night after night was unendurable. I could not never concentrate enough to even complete my work, I lacked motivation to cease any tasks. Also, I was heartbroken at the thought of not playing varsity soccer because soccer is very important to me.
I think I substitute taught for your great ESOL students on Friday, November 17, 2017, and that day was my first time at Northwestern High School. I apologize for not contacting you sooner, but I accidentally forgot to mention what I am writing now.
My favorite academic subjects I have taken in high school have been Science, Spanish, and a few Electives such as music, Environmental Science, Environmental Horticulture, Sustainable Urban Designs, and Photovoltaics. The way these subjects really influenced me was by impacting my understanding about everything that surrounds us and what happens in our world. For Science, my favorite class was Physiology. I find it fascinating the human body works such as the nervous system, reproductive system, and etc. My electives Environmental Science, Environmental Horticulture, Sustainable Urban Designs, and Photovoltaics has helped me understand the dangers of global warming and high levels of carbon dioxide and greenhouse emissions, the anatomy of a plant, and how to use green energy such as solar panels, wind energy etc. that are renewable sources and can help improve the environment. I’m learning the functions of solar panels and I have completed CareerSafe Safety Awareness Training Course and forty hours of renewable energy education and professional development in the SunPower Solar
College is an opportunity for furthering ones education, getting involved, and making new friends and connections. Being a student at Regis College I feel as though I missed out on those opportunities. After spending two years at Regis College I have come to realize that it is not the right fit for me. It offered limited amounts of organizations and activities that interested me. Which lead to me going home on most weekends because I enjoyed being at home more than being at school. Whereas, for other students living on campus, it would be the opposite. After I had completed my first round of clinical nursing I lost come to realize that nursing is no longer the career path I want to pursue. However, clinical did open my eyes to the different
Had my first day at Washington Academy. Spoke to the principal, George Brookover. their isn’t a track team here at Washington. And it’s all so unfair. Met my new teacher, Miss Ronney...who introduced me to the students in class. Ronney explained classroom rules, she said how the class starts by singing the national anthem. Ronney asked if I would lead the class in singing the national anthem and I lost it, not knowing the words.
Towards the beginning of the semester, I was a little hectic. I had an idea with what I wanted to do with my life but I was not fully sure. Now I have learned what some of the majors I was interested in are about. Knowing what the majors are about helped me narrow the options down. Also, I have learned more about my strengths and weaknesses. This told me what majors would suit me better to my strengths and weaknesses. Throughout the process of the MyPlan, I have learned my strengths and weaknesses, personality and traits, more occupations, dream career, and a genogram.
