I, as the hero of my story, have, is and will experience various stages of the hero’s journey listed by Joseph Campbell in his ‘Hero’s Journey Outline’. The experiences in the past helps me now to develop the skills necessary to face numerous challenges in my future. Me, as an IB student, in SJPII required a great deal of effort and courage. With the influence of my mentor, my parents, I crossed the threshold which separated my ordinary world from this special world. This transition, for me, was very hard as I am moving out from my safe world into a dissimilar, unknown world, which is a more challenging version of the reality. Furthermore, in this special world, my former presumptions and opinions were being questioned and torn apart. As I continued my education through Gr. …show more content…
This unique world helped me to acquire some skills which supports me now, and will be surely be come in handy in the future. During this journey, I met several companions who follow my same path. We built ourselves a bond of friendship that turned us as allies. These allies help me seize pain and tension, help me to be my very best and grow as a person in this society. However, I do not have anyone as an enemy so far, but sometimes, situations act as enemies against me. These situations attempt to undertake me and inflict fear into my mind which makes me think that I will fail and it is better to quit. To fight of these temptations to quit IB, my allies assists me and help me overcome the force that undertakes me. I also encounters tests that questions and proves the skills I poses. Often times, I do fail but, I consider these failures as a step to success in my ongoing journey. These kind of tests always arises frequently, and as long as I keep going forward, more and more tests will arise. Several other challenges appear as well. To play a role given to us, isn’t fun once we learn of it, however, breaking away pushes us further into the journey. The Hero's Journey, a repetitive process that seems to be in the basic natural structure of every human, and despite any efforts are often replicating it ourselves. Following the journey is simple and sometimes unavoidable. The whole journey is mapped out by Christopher Vogler's The Writer's Journey. Then seen in Dracula, Bedazzled, and Noah. Also, in a easier way Howl's Moving Castle and The Game.

One weekend, my friend Hannah and I wanted to go on a quad ride during the night. It was during the summer and we were at Hannah’s house and we were bored. So we thought it would be a good idea to go for a ride, so we asked her step dad if we could and he said yes. We both thought it would be super fun to go for a quad ride. So, we get all geared up in proper clothing because it was cold out and off we went.
Joseph Campbell has a theory called The Hero’s Journey in where an individual is shown in a mundane world, called to an adventure, and goes on the adventure. In the adventure, the individual goes on the path of trials that consisting of making new friends, new mentors, new enemies, facing new challenges, gaining new skills, and new knowledge. When the individual comes back to their mundane world, they are the master of two worlds through their new experiences they've gained in the adventure. The Hero’s Journey has been repeated in literature and films through many years: two examples that have The Hero’s Journey are the films, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
Change is inevitable. Whether it be positive or negative, change is constantly happening. More than often change can take you from the known world and spit you into the unknown, where you return a changed person. While embarking on the journeys provoked by change, you are on a hero’s journeys. The hero’s journey was popularized by Joseph Campbell. When describing what prompts hero’s journeys, Joseph Campbell said,
Zachari's grandmother showed the QP the court documents the probation officer left that reports he has 20 hours of community services, have no contact with the co-defendants, curfew set by the parent, and contact with his probation officer.
oals, I thought to myself as I sprinted down the field, ball in my net. The scorching sun beat down on my back, as if trying to slow me down as I passed defender after defender, trying to score that next goal.
I pulled my hair up into a pony tail and slung my purse over my shoulder before responding to him.
What would happen next?! She began to go down, she put one foot down on the next step. The ladder began to wobble Chu-yi, holding on tightly stops moving ,and the ladder is still. Chu-yi knew that could have been bad. She makes it half way down the ladder while her heart is beating like a drum. Chu-yi starts to hum the swift birds's song to calm herself. Bang, Chu-yi hears the sound and hurries down the ladder.
That was a lot of money, and I didnt want to let Tony down so I got in the car and started to drive. As I drove the road was empty. I had confidence I was not going o get caught. It was a slightly wormer day out witch might have been because the sun was out. I had the windows down and was blaring music just trying to enjoy life when a cop pulls out behind me.
The deep waters of sorrow and pain have overwhelmed me in the past months. Agony and despair has left me breathless as I stay on the surface of the waters, trying to find the hope and love deep down in the water. I am scared to go further to discover as I might drown in the love from the Father who loves me so. The waters can only keep me sane for so long until I let go and let God take over. The waves have overwhelms my eyes that I have become blind; blind with anger and violence so that my emotions have become equal with the storms. How can your love seem so innocent as the farther I go it becomes more dangerous? I am left breathless as you take me deeper. Deeper into something that can leave me wanting more.
I was nine years old when it happened. I loved Shrek so much, I owned all the movies and the merchandise, I even prayed to Shrek every night, I still do. This night was no different "Shrek is love. Shrek is life." I finish my prayer, thanking Shrek for the life I've been given. My dad overhears me "Faggot." he mumbles under his breath. "Cunt." I reply, I say no more because I know he is just jealous of the devotion and relationship I have with the green lord an savior, Shrek. I can see him grow angrier before he slaps me across the face "Go to your room you disgusting faggot!" he yells. I hold back the tears and I go back to my room, once I'm in the safety in my room I let the rears flow. My face stings from where he hit me. I climb into my cold and lonesome bed, and the suddenly, I feel a warmth move towards me, it runs a large finger down my back.
The bittersweet defines me. These moments seem to chase me, to tear me down and build me back up. It was in Hyderabad, India. A city filled with the earnest cries of chaiwalas urging you to buy their steaming teas, the exuberance and chatter of countless people as you walked down the worn streets, the occasional herd of buffalos that seemed to give you judgmental side glances, but at that moment it felt empty. Thirty-two hours left—our flight was leaving back to Alabama.
One early morning it was bright and sunny, I was lost I must have slept walked a little too far last night. By the way, I am Isabelle the goat and i’m the runt of my herd, which involves five of us. There is three girls and two boys that Is including me. I try to find my way back to my home, I have no clue which way to go so I’m just going to start walking in one direction to see if I can find someone for help. About eight miles later I seen this massive thing, I have never seen anything like it before.
‘’If you're lost, just look for me... You'll find me in the region of the summer stars’’
