Decor has always been important to me because it changes the way I interact with my environment. As someone who is heavily involved in the arts, I am ridiculously visual. I cannot work if my workspace is not organized, I once had an office job and I could barely stand my boring cubicle. My pinterest is filled with boards of cute dorm ideas and home decor DIYs. I am a person whose mood can change the second they step into a pretty room, and I use my space around me as another form of self expression. Without trying to air out my life story, I personally have struggled with depression for years now, and one of the few things that actually helps me cope is cleaning my room and redecorating. Being in a nice environment that matches my tastes has this weird ability to instantly lift my spirits and launch me into productivity. However, decor itself is very important to me culturally, not just as a way to “anti-stress”. My parents are Peruvian and Mexican respectively, and so our house is filled with different cultural pieces from each country. In our …show more content…
There is a difference between a bare home and a cozy home, there is a difference between a sleek kitchen with chrome countertops and a kitchen filled with knick-knacks and a refrigerator covered with magnets. The space that surrounds us is an extension of ourselves, it is a part of human nature to want to cover our walls with paintings and our living rooms with cozy blankets. Ancient civilizations had luxurious rugs, intricate mosaics, cravings and murals; modern day humans have the wonderful ikea. Jokes aside, we as a people have always delegated special attention to decor in every aspect of our lives. One must only need to look at gorgeously furnished temples, churches and mosques to wonder why humans place such a big importance on places, especially those that are sacred to
Other items are an inclusion of family members and friends and speaks of how much I love and appreciation them. I also strongly believe it is essential to me to have a nice comfortable area I can retreat to for relaxation and reflect on my daily livelihood and enjoy total privacy. Also shows I am a healthy person who enjoys a healthy environment which contributes greatly to restoration, of my overall health.
There's no harm in trying new things while decorating your home! There are many do's and don't when decorating your home. But you'll never find out what they are without trying new things. I’ll be completely honest, I love to dress nice and upgrade furniture in my place of residence. I
The most positive part of my shadowing at Exotic Home Designs was the fact that we started pretty much from scratch with an ugly bare house and turned it into something amazing. I never realized that you could take something so bland and dreary and turn it into a masterpiece. The color schemes matched the house exquisitely and made the overall feel amazing. In my shadowing experience, I am glad to report that there were no disappointments. I did find out though that even though I always knew it is a lot of work I didn't expect it would be as much work as it turned out to be. The thing is though nothing that is as beautiful as art gets done without some sort of hard work. If I had to give advice to future seniors about to experience the same
The agency I chose to interview was MyHouse at 300 North Willow in Wasilla, Alaska. Their mission is to provide safe shelter for homeless youth with a goal of connecting kids to a network of caring individuals and agencies able to assist them in becoming self-sufficient. They have a board of directors that meet regularly to discuss issues and where to go next with the agency.
Take, in example, Mathew’s room. He has mathematics, sports, and music awards from across the years, to show that he is intellectually and physically fit, or to give the idea that he is. He has a mostly clean room, that includes a full size bed farthest away from the door, and a portable piano sitting on the table cluttered with so many books and music sheets, that if anyone tried, they would only barely see through to the wood surface of the large work area. In his closet, he has many unworn clothes, in the hopes that he will fit into them, or that he will finally have a reason to wear
Some extra necessities I have is a white ceiling fan, two lamps, one T.V., two white furry carpets, one black circular cozy chair, a tiny garbage pile, a big laundry hamper, and three mirrors. On my wall I have a lot of drawing/paintings I did in art class, some pictures of my friends and I, a big wall square that I got from pottery with a white board, chalk board, jewelry hanger, mirror, picture hanger, chalk board, magnetic board, a calendar, and a clock. It is my favorite thing on my wall, but I always have a quote above a mirror and my monogram above my bed in black. My bed is extremely comfortable, I hate leaving it. It is a full size bed in a big white frame, with a flower comfortable. The colors are black, white, grey, purple, green, and blue, with black sheets and a big black blanket at the end. I love my throw pillows, I have three. One is a white fuzzy one that I use to cuddle with because it long or put behind my normal pillows. One is a big black square that I don’t ever use and one is a tiny square that says “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken”. Since 2nd grade my room has changed a lot! I redid it two times since then and I don’t regret it! It use to be a light green and I first had pink and green colors everywhere including my comfortable, then I got new comforter and new curtains,

Interior decorators always go on about color palates, textures and mood. Sure those things are important when designing or decorating your living space however, getting everything right and perfectly balanced takes a little bit more than just color, a room needs to have an attitude or rather convey a certain feeling. If you like decor that evokes certain feelings or boldly declares something about you that you want people to get off the bat, you need to pour yourself out. Now that can happen in one of two ways, you can be loud about it and use color on your walls but you can be chic and creative with wall art.
When I visited Brown what stood out to me is an environment encouraging students to be intellectually curious, not only through the idea of creating your own major, but also through the option to take a course pass-fail. This jumped out at me as an environment I would thrive in and reminded me of my senior year. I planed on taking a work heavy internship teaching course, and doubling up on science while learning calculus, putting myself in a calculus physics class surrounded by future engineers who took calculus years ago: all summer I was slightly terrified. There are many classes like Physics that I would love to take and not be constantly anxious about grades, and that's Brown’s provides. At Brown I would take full advantage of this opportunity
The choice of warm or cool colors, organization, and layout of a room convey certain aspects of someone’s personality. “An ugly room can coagulate any loose suspicions as to the incompleteness of life, while a sun-lit one set with honey-coloured limestone tiles can lend support to whatever is most hopeful within us” (Part 4). Rooms not only have the ability to show aspects of a personality, but also bring out feelings based on their design. It’s the reason that doctors’ offices, schools, and businesses spend so much time coming up with a design that will bring out feelings of joy or happiness in the people that visit
After looking around my (side of the) room, I noticed that my space nonverbally communicates to others that I am organized, neat, particular/specific about how and where I want my things to be, disciplined, studious, and well prepared. The presence of my belongings, and how they are laid out in my room, affect me by further
My room has many characteristics of which I share; it has many pictures that I have taken, about my friends or other interesting things that I have found. It is the only place that I can make my own, I can be creative and decorate
One place that I see every day but don’t put much attention to is my house. The house that I live in is near by a park and a gas station. My house is small and cozy is made of steel frames, the anterior part of the house has a beige and pink color that combine a beautiful shade. The inside of my house has many portraits of family members and drawings. I have a total of two bathrooms and four rooms a kitchen and two living rooms. We have a living room that’s used for grown-ups and the other one is used for the children. The kitchen table and chairs are made of wood, in the ceiling there is big chandelier. The walls of my house are painted in different colors that are green, beige and pink. I like that every room has its own different color, it’s not boring it brings life and shade.
