If I get into summer ventures, I would take that experience with me wherever I go. I would use the summer experience to enhance my academic goals by learning how to problem solve, designing projects, and investigating topics in the area I am placed. In the future I can take everything I learn from the summer experience by using it in my future career field and throughout school. Throughout my career I will use the problem solving skills and the investigation skills to diagnose patients and help see what is wrong with them. If I get into Summer Ventures, I will keep the experience with me for my entire academic and job
There were many major highlights on my first week of my internship at Gunston Summer School. I was able to observe and learn how to do schedule changes. My supervisor counselor told me that for this week we were going to do a lot of those and we did. I was also able to learn about teachers, administrator and parents' concerns about students. Summer School is different from a regular middle school in the regular school year. All middle school who send students to the Summer classes meet in just one school, and schools take turns every year. Also, I learn more about the students who have a 504 plan, which in my past work experience I haven’t had the chance to do much. It was interesting to see how much paper work goes into it.
The Jersey City Summer Internship Program has given me a chance to experience my first job. They graciously enough placed us in Brown Brothers Harriman Bank. Let me tell you, I would not be anywhere else. This place is candy land for me, to learn and understand how systems/technology works. But, not only am I grateful for this knowledge and experience, I appreciate the way it was organized. Jason, the way you organized this event was spectacular and it incorporated some hands on experience, not just listening to specific instructions. Besides the work life, you’ve given me advice for college and how to balance your private life with work, so you don’t stress yourself out. You put a spin on every task I do, which makes me confident and takes
When I first attended SummerTech, I was amazed at how everything was done so professionally. Although our privileges were restricted, as I got older, I began to understand the liability risks that are associated with "on-the-loose" campers. I remember my first night at SummerTech, rooming with a friend from my hometown, Charles. We weren't able to sleep, and stayed up all night. I tried to soak up as much information as I can, within my two weeks at the program. When I returned to CIT, I learned that being a camper was the easy part. Nevertheless, it was still an amazing experience to see what happens behind the scenes at SummerTech. I taught two campers named Jake and Derek, in a web development elective. This was my first experience as a
My second job was a cashier at a local drug store. My daily duties included organizing and stocking shelves, providing excellent customer service, and checking out customers. The environment was incredibly nonchalant and the stress level was extremely low. Although many of my peers enjoy effortless employment, the lack of duties disturbed me. I worked the last shift almost every weekend night and was plagued with boredom. There were numerous occasions when I would pick a magazine off the shelf and read it because of the shortage of customer traffic. The job became a waste of time and ability.
It's going great in middle school so far. I have some problems with some things. There is lots of good and bad things about school. I think that some things need to be changed.
What is experience? The dictionary defines it as practical contact with and observation of facts and events while Albert Einstein defines it as "the only source of knowledge." These definitions aren't far from the truth. In my perspective, experience is a form of preparation for similar future events and a form of trial and error. This was proven to me through one of the most important experiences in my life — my internship.
Throughout my high school career I have been involved in the band and the health and science academy for 4 years. The southeast high school band is the only club that is near and dear to my heart because I have not only traveled with them all the way to Florida, but I have spent so much time with everyone in the band. This years graduating class of band members only contains five people including me, so we are like a family within a family. With this being our last year of high school we have all taken the time to look back on the things that we would change, good or bad. One of the things that I wanted to change was how the band never got as much recognition as other clubs in the school did. I have voiced my opinion to the band director, as
Initially, on my first day of fieldwork, I did not want to have high expectation for myself, because I did not want to stress myself out. Regardless of this, as an occupational therapy (OT) practitioner student in a non-traditional environment, you become an ‘accidental leader’. A leader who is thrust into a practitioner role and you are required to put into practice the occupation-based knowledge that you have learned in a meaningful way. Partaking in this community-based environment, it gave me the experience to gain and take on this responsibility. This role enhances my ability to engage and influence others in a positive and meaningful way. Therefore, my expectation for myself grew and I wanted to be capable of leading a group. Most of
I was able to get back to working like nothing had happen but unfortunately my session had end for my first term. I had been in contact with my professors about the issues and trying to get caught up but time was up and I was unable to do so. I then thought I was going to have a great next term starting in the summer of 2015. I began off strong doing well like the first term, then work started to intensify. I began working later and later. I was clearing over 40 hours almost every week and coming home just to sleep. I normally work from 9am to 6pm, but with late kids, preparing for the fall classes for the kids and moving rooms around I was working more like 8am to 7pm sometimes 8 am to 8pm. So when I came home to do school work I be so exhausted that I was able to do bits and pieces of it never was able to fully dedicate myself to the school work like I was suppose to.
My highschool career is almost over . I'm a star basketball player and bringing the team to the 2nd straight state championship. I'm a small town kid trying to make it big.
Growing up I was always taught that we are all created equally, so if this is truly the case why aren't we all treated equally? I believe we live in a skewed stereotypical world. We pass judgments far too often, judgments that affect the way we see and treat people. I believe we are raised being taught to fear rather than to understand. We are misguided and taught to be apprehensive towards people who aren’t “like” us. These ideas we are fed when we are young turn into practices when we grow older. I believe we practice treating people differently because we are scared, because we are told to be scared.
Of all the experiences of my high school career, the ones that stand out to me the most are the numerous community service projects I have participated. From working booths at Relay for Life, picking up litter on highways, working multiple community dinners, volunteering at elementary schools through our leadership’s PALS (Partner’s in Active Learning Support) program, and serving as a table leader at the middle school’s Character Counts programs, I have made myself available and useful to various aspects of our community. I am very proud of and I have enjoyed my involvement in all these events, my favorite by far is the annual Kings County Farm Day.
I am an Admissions Clinician at a private psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center in the Oklahoma City area. I currently work with ages 5+, including women with an extensive history of trauma. While working with people and families in crisis I found that I enjoy working with children and adolescents, especially the population that other clinicians loathe (children with aggressive behavior, etc.). This work is challenging and emotionally consuming at times. Due to the cognitive and emotional requirements of working inpatient, I decided to decrease my hours during the week to focus on more on being successful in the doctoral program. I also preform administrative work for a behavioral health non-profit in Virginia as needed. Working
When I was 15 I got offered a job and I was very excited! My sister worked there as well so it made getting trained and learning a lot easier for me. I had a couple of tests to take and computer work to do before I could start actually working.
