Personal Narrative: My Trip To Hawaii

When I started writing this, I had no clue what it would be about. I was told “It has to be perfect.” “It has to explain you without you explaining yourself.” “You have to give it meaning without being asked for anything.” “If it isn’t good enough, admission officers won't give your application a second glance.” So, I put off writing it, pondering it over and over in my mind. I’m so glad I put it off, because until recently, I didn’t know what it was keeping me in Hawai’i. My mom lives in Oregon now, and I had the option to move with her because she still has custody. Something kept me here, though, and I wasn’t sure what. Through reminiscing and building more memories, I realized what it was. It was how much I love being Hawaiian. The food,

At 6:00 in the morning on July first I was packed and ready to go to Hawaii. I was so excited I almost blew up. I was up and ready to get on the plane at 9:00am. We ended up getting to the airport at 7:30 and I was so ready to just be in Hawaii. We ended up getting breakfast there and just waiting to board. We got on the plane and I didn’t know how long the flight was so I asked my mom she said “ the flight is 5 hours.” I was so sad I wanted to be in Hawaii. I asked my mom if we could get a movie and she said sure so I got Moana. I fell asleep on accident 4 hours I woke up and like everyone was asleep. So I started my movie ate some snacks and went back to bed I woke up right as we were landing. It was so pretty I saw beautiful flowers smelled a new scent of ocean breeze and flowers. I was so excited I jumped off the plane and ran into airport. As soon as we got our stuff we saw my grandparents. We ran to them and they took us home. We immediately went to the beach and swam. A week later my mom had to leave to come back to Washington.

Last week I arrived at Hawaii or the Sandwich Islands and when I got there, all the native Hawaiians had poorly choice of clothes since it showed a lot of their skin. Since we were sailing for over 4 months, they were incredibly kind and nice to share how they live with some of my friends and me. My hair has grown down to my rib cage since the last time, I saw you my hair was only down to my shoulders. I have lost 21 pounds by just carrying heavy boxes and a printer and everything else off of the ship and eating scarcely. My bones were aching yesterday so, I asked the Hawaiians if they have any medicine. Unfortunately they didn’t, but the good thing was that the nurse we brought from the ship was in the next house and she had some. My friends

Life in Hawai’i is a fascinating journey that has enriched me with knowledge and the audacity to pursue on to greater achievements. All the seventeen years I have been here has sculpted an individual determined and interested about life. Eager to explore the world around me, I seek onward to find a sense of contentment. High hopes and big dreams drive me to push on to a higher education. Family, friends and teachers encourage me to strive for excellence, without them I would not wish to discover the outcomes of one's hard work. I had just arrived at Haleakala national park in Maui, Hawaii. I thought this was going to be a normal day, but it definitely has not. The day already started off crazy because when we got there we put the cooler down and the Hawaiian state bird the Nene goose took the cooler so we had no lunch. Me and my family still went on with our day. First we bought our tickets at the ticket booth the man told me and my family that the park was established August 1,1916. Then we moved along realizing it was a hot day we packed a lot of water but, that was in the cooler so I did not think with no food and no water we would make it that far into the day my mom just said if we wanted to go to the crater we would have to tough it out. So I had so much fun on my vacation when i went to Arizona over the summer for ten days. We went to the Grand Canon and it is way bigger than I thought!! We took all kinds of pictures on my aunts tablet and we took them are our phones. But the bad thing is that my phone died right when we got to the Grand Canon. I got so mad so then my aunt took pictures on the tablet and she let me take pictures on her phone.

Growing up somewhere as beautiful as Maui has taught me the important values that define who I am today. One place specifically enlightened me of the value that I strive to fulfill each day, which is to live in the moment and appreciate where I am . In my early teens, my parents and I were on a vacation in Mexico. I remember we hiked up a mountain for nearly forty five minutes to reach our destination. I was so intrigued with all the beautiful green, vivid colors and the flowing river that was running actively. It felt like a scene out of a Tarzan movie. During our journey, I noticed many different plants and trees. I came across a coffee tree, a banana tree, and many other fruit trees such as mango trees. I asked myself how lucky local villagers were to have such a luxury. While we were there, I noticed the air smelled different, and the atmosphere was just right: it felt purified and relaxing. “No, I promise I’ll be fine, Mari. I think a 26 year old male like myself, will do just fine in Hawaii.” At this point, I was literally placing all of my weight on my luggage in hopes of keeping it shut. “Barely zipped and ready to go. You and I have to head to Hawaii, and our planes leaving in 2 in a half hours. We’d better get a move on.” It took a moment for what I said to sink in, but he finally got the message and got up. “I’ll be ready soon. Just give me 10 minutes or so.”

My family and I are going on a trip to hawaii and now we are getting off the plane now we have to check in to our hotel it was very nice it has 4 bedrooms a big living room 3 bathrooms after we got settled we got to got to the Akaka falls state park it had a cool water fall, and when we got at the top I got to zipline all the way down that was fun i said to my mom ‘ yea it was did you see the macaws and toucans in the trees’ yea they had different colors. So where to next ‘ We're going to the hotel so we can get dresses and hula dancing with everyone’ is it going to be at a restaurant because i'm hungry ‘ no it is going to be a private buffet it should be fun’ Wait mom are we going to b riding dolphins tomorrow ‘ Yea i think’.

When me and my grandma got our tickets to go to California it was so exciting!!! We packed our bags to days early. It was hard to decide as we were packing so i had my grandma pack my bags for me that made it really easy. It was funny what we packed my packed me close to last a whole month, it was crazy. So we were done packing so we went to bed early because the next day we left. We were so excited it was hard for me to fall asleep but somehow, i managed to go to sleep. I slept on the way there it was a long drive so packing was pretty fun.
