Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. A wonderful place, the falls themselves being one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The roaring water, mist spraying from below, seagulls flying through the sky; One happy place. That was, until my family took a tour, three-hundred plus feet in the air, the aero-car being only attached to wires, stretching from boarder to boarder. A day filled with happiness turning into a day of fear.
A fear of heights plus being three-hundred plus feet in the air with complete strangers, probably wasn't the best idea. It was a beautiful day, with a beautiful view. Sun shining, the distant sounds of the falls from Niagara River, right before the river turns to Lake Ontario. Seagulls seemed to be everywhere, but thankfully, weren't too loud or annoying.
I was very wary getting into the tour car, probably not making the best decision standing on the outer edge of the car, instead of in the middle. The aero-car was more fun then I had thought, with an amazing view. Everything was so beautuiful. The guid informed everyone that we will cross the boarder a total of four times. Twice going to the US side, twice going back to the Canada side. It was truly wonderful, until we had to rotate around the aero-car so we could see the other side of Niagara Rivers as we went back to the Canada side.

Currently at the end, half-way around to the other side. Only having one hand on, as my other hand was reaching to grab the bar, was when the scare happened. As the aero-car jerked, my body went forward towards the edge, but was quickly pushed back. Knuckled were pale from gripping the bars, as was my face, or so I was told. Tears began to well up in my eyes, body shaking and lungs gasping for air. The event reminded me why the fear of heights existed with me, and made the fear worse when it was beginning to get
My trip to the Grand Canyon was the best experience I ever had so far in my life. My grandparents from Korea came along with us. Even though I saw them last year it was still an enjoyable moment that I had. Grand Canyon is located in Arizona so what our family did was fly to Las Vegas early in the morning and arrive in Nevada around 9 o’clock am. Driving to Grand Canyon was also five hours with heavy traffic. Driving and stopping every hour was hard to do but at the end it was all worth it. It was good that I had couple electronic devices and my family to keep me in company.
For years my fascination was to travel somewhere spectacular, some place that would show a dignified view that would make me say “wow.” Finally after waiting years, last year was the year that I had the opportunity to leave the borders of the United States and go to Canada. Specifically, Niagara Falls, getting there was a journey in itself. Once getting there, a scene of unspecified beauty appeared in my field of vision that was unexplainable with words. It was something that would stick to my mind forever. The flow of gentle water hitting the rocks, a originated mist that came from the falls hit my face, filling my face with joy.
At that time my body was petrified my friends had to get my hands unstuck from the railing in line. “Negrochild let go!”, said Keion. “Dude just let go it's not even that high.”, said Kelly. “Just c’mon!”, yelled Kamaurion.“If he’s scared let‘em be scared.” uttered Keion’s dad and brother. “I’m not scared I just don’t fuck with heights or anything of that nature.” “That literally means your scared!”, Keion said frustratedly. “Fine I’m scared but that's besides the point.”, I said. Nigga that is the point!” “You right, fuck it I’ll go.”, I said
Growing up in rural North Carolina was both a blessing and a curse. My hometown, Fallston, North Carolina, is a tiny town way off the beaten path. Most people speak with a southern accent, are devout christians, vote Republican, think camouflage is a normal fashion pattern, and adore country music. But while I was a child, none of these things were a problem. I never realized how close-minded everyone was or how there were no opportunities for success; I was too concerned with the three most important events of the year: the Fallston FunFest, the Belwood Tractor Pull, and the Cleveland County Fair. However, as I grew older, zeal wore off and reality set in. I started to realize how conservative and restrictive it was. What little Fallston offered,
After an eight hour drive we finally made it to Yosemite National Park. We were minutes away from starting our camping adventure and none of us could hold in our excitement. As we pulled into the parking lot we instantly noticed that the whole place was completely abandoned. We were puzzled as to why the park was closed. Annabelle was the first one to break the silence. She turned to Wyatt and said, “there is no way in hell that I’m leaving this place without going camping.” The furious look on her face made us realize that she would be impossible to reason with. Wyatt tried explaining to her that it might not be safe to camp at a deserted park but she grabbed her backpack and marched over to the fence. She promptly threw her gear over the fence
Then That's when the anxiety kicked in. As the creaky cart started to go up the tracks creek creek as the cart went up. I kept my eyes open as I watched us go up. Once we reached the top I could see the beautiful day and the bright white clouds and the… aww as the cart went down, the cart was going so fast It was like I was flying a 100 miles per hour. All I could hear were screams of everyone and myself but mostly myself. Once we went down the big drop it was not that bad, I couldn't believe that I survived the drop that was normally the part I cried on. After the big drop we went in a big circle as it headed for the little drop we went down in the big circle as I had my hands up feeling free like a bird. Then the little drop hit you could hear the cart starting to speed up on the tracks again and I said “woh” and then the cart started slowing down again as we reached the station. We all clapped and said We SURVIVED! Once we exited the cart with are legs numb from all that excitement and impact we headed down to get some drinks and to discuss which to ride next, and that was the time I survived Six
I felt the drops begin to fall, and yelled, “Hurry! Help Me get the fly on!” We hoisted on the fly, then realizing the tent was going to blow away, put in some extra stakes. The next morning we woke up, dazed by the nights’ events, but excited and ready for adventure. We began our journey into the Tetons, heading to Jenny Lake, where frigid waters dared us to jump in. We began our journey up the mountain shortly after a quick breakfast, during which a man from the next campsite over gave us some extra pancake mix, which at the moment we had no time to use, and threw in the back of the car. Little did we know the lights in the car had stayed on while we went up the mountain. I headed the trip for a while, then fell to the back, drained by trying to stay in the lead and by lack of oxygen. We had to take breaks every few minutes because of the dispersed and unsatisfying amount of air we were able to breath in. All of the sudden, like flashes of lightning, Kurtis and Allison took the
Crammed in a 1992 Ford truck that is supposed to seat three people, my brother, sister, dad, and I surprisingly arrived at my dad’s favorite park; it just happened to be over an hour away. This mini trek felt as if it lasted for hours. At first, I dreaded piling up to listen to my family complain about having each others’ elbows touching for more time than I would have liked. I soon discovered the uncomfortable ride would be worth it. Once we reached the winding road where we significantly decreased our speed from the highway, my siblings and I grew with excitement to finally be able to stretch our legs and go hiking. We unloaded the truck to spend a couple hours at what we called Great Falls Park.
Going into the fall 2014 semester, my family was not in a good place financially, and I was not mentally. Our income had been reduced, meaning I had to step up to help my family. This caused my already weakened mental state to become even more strained and took a toll on me physically. I was not able to concentrate on anything at school, work, and home, it was almost in a blur. When I resigned from the fall 2014 semester, I knew it was something that was needed to make sure I stayed healthy, mentally and physically. Two years went by and I found myself in a better place. Going into the fall 2016 semester, I found the perfect balance between studying, work, and home life. In the end I exceeded all the expectations I had set for myself in every
Living in Prince Edward Island, as a citizen, I have a lot of concerns for the future of my land. In the province of Canada, voices for confederation are coming out. This idea sounded exciting at first, after all who wouldn't want a strong country that unites all people, but for us things are different. Imagine if we handed our money and resources, or even right and prosperity to the government, how much would we get back. Our voice would still be unheard since we are of small population, very insignificant in the united government. We are already stable in development, with all these timber, farming, ship building business and more as we are developing a strong tie with Britain and United States. I’m worried that if we joined, our peaceful
During the summer my girlfriend and I went to Turner Falls for 4th of July. When we arrived at Turner Falls we noticed they weren’t letting people in because it was packed. Luckily my aunt had rented a cabin by the entrance and we got to stay with them. Around 6 in the morning, they started letting more people in so I got the car and I sped to get in line. When I was speeding it was raining awfully bad. That caused Mari to get on to me because I was being “scandalous” and could have caused a wreck.

Comfortably nestled right at the intersection of Highway 79 and Interstate 45 is an easily passed over town, with just four stop lights, named Buffalo. To the thousands that mindlessly drive through every day, it may not seem like much, but between those four stoplights and down the countless backroads, is where I have learned many lessons, had many laughs, and ultimately become the person that I am today. The people of Buffalo, as well as my family are the reason I have been able to grow and excel and become successful throughout High School.
WOOSH the wind roared but it was still sunny. We had planned on going to mackinac
The night before we began our journey to Orlando, I didn’t get much sleep. My eyes were wide open like an owl most of the night, tossing and turning under my cloudy soft comforter thinking about what awaited me the next 24 hours. I have always been interested about what it would be like to go on a roller coaster, but I hated the feeling of weightlessness like a balloon. I even hated going on elevators, just the thought of all that force sent a shivering sensation throughout my body that made me agonizingly uncomfortable. Nevertheless, there was a roaring lion fearlessness within me that wanted to indulge on this endeavor. In the morning we pack the family SUV as if we were sardines in a can and headed out to Islands of Adventure.
